Chapter Eight
Third-Person POV
"Shame!"
"Pathetic!"
"How dare you bring poison on your fellow werewolves!"
"You have broken the poor omega's heart and he's fighting for his life right now!"
Those were three of the statements made by the numerous ANGRY Alphas (male and females) who have gathered at the great hall of the Four Aces pack mansion alongside members of the Council of the Supernaturals. All of the Alphas have heard of Regan's bad choices and Carson's comatose state.
Some of the Alphas have already paid their respects to the Dark Dahlia witch coven's leaders for the loss of Gia Napier-Zeller and little Lucas before stopping at the hospital to visit poor Carson.
Others immediately raced to the mansion to give Regan a piece of his mind.
All the same, no one was happy with Regan Zallenda, the pariah of all supernaturals who has given werewolves a bad name.
"You bastard," hissed a female Alpha werecat from Nashville, who was ready to attack Regan had it not been for her male Luna. "I can't believe that such a boy like Carson was originally mated to you- a man with no soul. I can only imagine how your wolf is bearing the pain right now."
Say it, sister, Anubis snarled in Regan's head. I ask myself the same thing ever since that night two years ago.
Regan blocked his wolf, annoyed that Anubis was still pissed off at him. "I did what I had to do," he said flatly, sipping on his cup of coffee. "That runt was not what I needed."
"His name is CARSON, boy!" growled a surly blue-haired vampire from Little Rock, Arkansas. "And you going against the Moon Goddess herself proves that you are far from deserving the title of Alpha. Thank Goddess that your folks saw that Ciara was a born leader and that her mate Miles is a true Luna."
Regan snorted, earning some glares from his parents. "The Moon Goddess must've been smoking some crazy shit to pair me with that runt," he drawled. "And I'll keep calling that runt 'that runt' because he's only fitting to be walked under my shoes like dirt. You all know of it and so do I."
Fianna stood up, fiery anger in her eyes as she pointed a manicured finger at him. "There's still time for you to make things right," she said, letting a few tears fall from her face. "Carson needs someone who can free him from his coma and you are still without a mate. Accept your role, fool. Make him yours."
"And like I said, witch. I don't mate with faggots and I don't do omegas," Regan replied. "I like females, not ratty boys. Mom and Dad should've left him in the forest to die when they discovered him in the woods back when he was a pathetic tot. Maybe the rogues would've gladly eaten him up."
"Insolent boy," Alison the dragon-shifter from the Council said angrily. "So, you would rather let him die?"
Regan smirked. "It beats me killing him with my bare hands."
SMACK!
Regan staggered away from his mother, who slapped him so hard that she ended up scratching his face. "You are a true monster," she said. "You're not my son, not anymore."
Regan shrugged. "Fine with me," he said as he backed away from the dining room table and left the great hall. But just as he was stepping out into the foyer, he was greeted by eight young men- all of them dressed in identical business suits and scowls on their faces.
"Hey," Regan said, smiling brightly. "Aren't you guys the Elite Eight Alphas from LA?"
*********
A moment if you will, dear readers.
The Elite Eight that Regan speaks of is eight friends from eight different supernatural packs and covens that stuck to each other like glue since the day of their births. They shared the same birthday and the same interests in being leaders. Aside from their species, they are good friends- and also passionate lovers to each other.
But they were missing something important: a ninth and final mate that could hold them down and keep them emotionally, mentally, and spiritually grounded. They needed an omega.
And when word reached to them about a poor omega-turned-human that was fighting for his life at the UC Hospital on the way to his wedding with the late Gia Napier-Zeller from the Dark Dahlia witch coven, they needed to find the bastard that did the initial rejection.
The Elite Eight consisted of the following: Gavin Arundel (werewolf from the Nightrose pack), Ferdinand Odair (werecat from the Red Spade Pack), Dominic Gauthier (vampire from the Bloodstone vampire coven), Alain Greynier (merman from the Moonbeam mermen coven- the coven consisting of Alpha and omega mermen), Francisco Emerson (angel from the Silver Wings angel coven), Quentin Santiago (Francisco's cousin and demon from the Red Horn demon coven), Nicholas Van Silva (hellhound from the Flaming Paw pack) and Zechariah Cartier (dragon shifter from the Rainbow Victory dragon colony AND Lady Alison Maurey's nephew).
And now, back to the storyline already in progress.
************
"Hey, aren't you guys the Elite Eight?" Regan said, smiling faintly. "Man, I am a huge fan of yours and-"
"Funny, wolf, because we can't say the same thing for you," Quentin the Alpha Demon said disinterestedly as he let his eyes glow purple. "And we've been meaning to talk to you."
Regan's smile faded. "And you guys are furious at me for rejecting the runt," he said, sighing heavily. "Look, pal, I-"
"Carson," Alain said, frowning. "The young omega- now human, because of you- has a name and it's Carson Hadley. Remember that."
"Yeah...no," Regan said nonchalantly. "In my eyes, he'll always be the skinny runt that is nothing but a thorn in my side. Thanks to him, I'm not an Alpha; my parents hate me; no sane woman would want to warm my bed nowadays; my ex-best friend is mated to another guy and is a pregnant bitch, and I got angry Alphas from across the world who want me to accept my fate. No fucking way, man! I'm as straight as they come and I won't accept that fag."
"Funny, because in all the books I read on Wattpad and Inkitt there's one Alpha or homophobe who's really in denial and he either becomes a loving seme or the seme's submissive uke."
Regan whirled around to see a petite effeminate male with coffee-colored skin and dressed to the nines. "Who the hell are you?" he said, frowning.
The young man in question grinned widely. "Why, you can call me Eurydice Joneslake, the keeper of the Elite Eight and the son of Gregory and Damian Joneslake of the Winged Victory Phoenix community," he said. "And you, good sir, are a complete jackass."
"And let me guess, you're an omega?" Regan sneered.
"Watch it, pup," Zechariah hissed, letting his eyes turn from human to his dragon's rose gold. Several other passing men echoed in agreement.
"It's alright, Cartier," Eurydice said. "And to answer your question, Zallenda, yes I am. I also have a man who loves me for all I am. I'm the only one who can tame my dragon and make him happy with my moves in the bedroom."
Regan suppressed the urge to vomit as Anubis chuckled inside his head. "Please, I just ate," he moaned. "And it just goes to show that I need to make my move and get rid of all omegas like you, freak. And once I kill off Carson, I will make my move ad overthrow the Council, his dads, and my own family so I can claim the throne as my own and get rid of all omegas and faggots once and for all."
"Is that a fact?" Alain said, gripping his trident as if ready to kill Regan.
"You damn right it is."
Eurydice snapped his fingers. "Lady Ciara and Mother Marianne, did y'all get all of that?"
Regan whirled around to see the furious faces of the female leaders with Lady Alison leading them. "We heard every word," Marianne said. "Ciara, punish this jackass before I turn him into stone!"
"Gladly," Ciara snarled as her wolf Isis was coming out to play. "Guards! Carry my brother to the dungeon and make sure to beat him within an inch of his life! Regan Zallenda, you are under arrest for treason with the intention of genocide!"
Two statuesque blonde females came to Regan, one of them greeting him with her fist that knocked him out.
"And have some guards head to the hospital to guard the hospital room where Carson is at," Ciara demanded as they led an unconscious Regan out of the foyer. To Eurydice, "Kid, you remind me of Carson in so many ways."
"Well, I hope that he wakes up to a much-changed environment," the young phoenix said. "No tea, no shade, and no pink lemonade, Lady Ciara. But your brother is a jackass who needed to be turned into an omega to see how it feels to be the shoe on the other foot."
"None taken," Ciara said. "So I take it that you gentlemen already saw Carson."
Gavin shook his head. "We will, though," he said. "My friends and I have a strong feeling that Carson is our mate. We are the second-chance mates that the Goddess herself has blessed us with."
"Halleloo!" Marianne said, her chocolate-brown eyes widening. "You mean-"
"Yes, Madame Marianne," Nicholas said, letting his eyes glow magma gold. "Carson is what my brothers and I could use to complete our circle."
"Well, y'all go over there right now and pay your respects," Fianna said as she joined the fray. "Mama and I need to plan for my sister and my nephew's joint funeral and-"
"But of course," Dominic said, bowing slightly. "And our packs and coven send their respects, my dear. Carson must've loved your sister to be honestly devoted to her, even while he was a human."
"He was," Marianne said sadly. "He was."
Sho' you right!
Regan is an asshat, but we already know that! And his big mouth lands him in the dungeons for wanting Carson and other Omegas to die! But don't worry, fine people! He'll get his soon enough!
And we've met the Elite Eight Alphas of LA! In the next chapter, you'll get to know them better as they voice their thoughts on Carson being their destined mate and how they feel lucky to have him in their lives. I bet y'all want more of this juicy stuff, huh? Stick around, folks, because you can never go wrong with me!
