once upon a night
a boy met a girl
under the moonlight
the boy thought
it was such a sight
to see the girl
shining so bright

and so he made
a moon clock
that only rang
when it struck one
it was the only time
both were gone to
meet each other where
noises were none

he promised the
girl to meet him
by the willow tree
so he waited until
the clock struck three
then the sun rose
far from the east
and the girl was still
nowhere to be seen

he felt so betrayed
that night
to meet the girl
under the moonlight
he knew he'd waste
all his blinding light
to the girl who never
returned in his sight

every time the
moon shows
to this day and so
the clock would
strike one and
emit a bright glow
to remind the girl
of his love forever
because he gave
all his light to her

all that's left of him
was darkness. . .
