Soon the day, my sisters and brother needless to say my mother had been waiting eagerly, came. I was, unlike them and so like me, into hurriedly reading the classic that I have taken from our nearby library a week ago. As she the librarian beware, I shall not exceed the due date. But nevertheless, I had one chapter left but before I could finish a loud bang teared up all my concentrations.
"Jungkook..." My brother James sang out as he snuck into my room, "It is time to look presentable."
"I refuse to look presentable. James tell me, why this manner is celebrated to look presentable in front of a suitor, in order to get married... is the beauty lying on my appearance the only beauty in this whole world?" I sighed while putting the book on my bag.
"The most preferable beauty to be precise, and the most celebrated one." He said while taking my suit from my wardrobe.
"And I disagree with that. I would rather celebrate the ugliest beauty than the most beautiful ugly in my life."
"Oh dear, Jungkook! You say such sturdy words that flies off of my mind."
"And you and your fetishes about muscles." I said and within a moment a sheer laughter breaks out my room and equally charmed the manor in the eve of the evening.
As I saw my sisters who are so well dressed and busy fixing their perfectly pinned hair, while James was busy dusting off the invisible dust on his shoulders and Arthur who was impatient to meet Elliot in the ball. My mother was busy scrutinizing each one of us as if one beautiful ornaments we lose to tempt such man.
"Okay I hope each of you behave and especially you, Jungkook I do not want to you be wild in front of them."
"I promise mama, I will be as silent as I can be."
"Now that is even more scary. Do never be silent when he asks for your hand." She said as she went into the carriage.
"I would be the last one to be able to tempt him." I whispered to James, and as he rolled his eyes, we both followed mother to reach the destination.
Mr. Park was the fair man everyone was eager to tempt. I shall not disagree as he is genuinely charming, handsome and lively, unreserved youth with a well fortune that everyone could dream of. The gossips say he is one of the youngest yet most successful business person in our neighbourhood that even Lady Margarette sing praise for. He did not come alone; as his other two brothers Jung Hoseok and Park Namjoon who with his husband Park Jin and his friend Jeon Taehyung also came. And to my utter surprise the latest person I have mentioned, was the one who piqued my curiosity as he was relatively silent and reserved all along the ball. Some said he was highly presumptuous and some said he was imbecile, where I believed that reserved is the most appropriate word for him. While I was busy thinking about which word is more suiting for him, our eyes met for a quick moment, and quicker than that he diverted his gaze, as if it was ruined to meet my eyes. I frowned and again put my concentration on the crystal chandelier brightening the room, rather than charming men.
It was then I believed my assumptions were true, as Mr. Jeon refused to dance with any of the present youths, be it a man or a woman. He danced once with Mr. Jin Park and then once with Mrs. Bennet. 'He certainly is reserved.' I said to myself. I did dance with once Mr. Park Jimin who was so enthusiastic and charming that I had to close my eyes and ears and the second dance with Mr. Jung Hoseok who had the brightest smile of the century and also had a dear talk with both Mr. Park Namjoon and Mr. Park Jin but never with Mr.Jeon Taehyung. But that did not unease me.
Later that evening, to have a clear, cool lungsful of air, I excused myself from the excessively cheery ball to the quitter balcony decorated with houseplants. Scanning that no one followed me, nor noticed that I slipped out, I deliriously fished out my book which I have been urging to read all the evening. It wasn't even three lines when I heard a faint sound of pencil screeching on some paper. Curious, I looked up and there my eyes fell on the back of a figure handsome in the moonlit night. Didn't know someone was here and that too is Jeon Taehyung. The cold wind of autumn brushed his locks made them fell on his eyes but he was focused on his journal more. Oblivious to me, I was enchanted by his beauty never in my life I had seen such oblivious, dishevelled beauty that a man beheld, with such dignity, with the beauty of silence, with innocence, eyes dawned with experience, lips that is precious as some year old wine... I lose myself within.
Losing myself in his beauty and my thoughts, neither I nor he noticed that I already came to close. It was then his ears perked and shoulders flinched, when I drew the locks to his ears. He looked at me,
"They were grazing your eyes, I assumed that would be bothersome." I said smiling, and he seemed to believe and not to gawk about.
"Thank you. How come you are here not dancing?" He asked, much to my surprise. It was the first time I am hearing his voice this closely, and with an instant his deep baritone voice made my heart go wild.
"I- I had a book pending to read. And with honesty, I care not to dance. May I sit if you do not mind?"
"Sure, and about dancing, I too do not find that tempting for me."
"Then what is that you find so tempting enough to tempt you?"
"Curves." He said with a smile, and the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. I questioned him with my eyes,
"Define curves."
"The curves that flows over our body, precisely from the breasts to the waist, I have a large oeuvre of corsets."
"Oh that I have heard from Miss Lydia Bingley that you have a large fortune in business along with your friend Mr. Park. It must be beautiful."
"It is, here." Saying he showed me the journal, in which he had been screeching the pencil. And it was really something to be astonished on.
The paper full of the blue prints of corsets drawn by his beautiful penmanship. I made an wow and he giggled.
"You seemed to like it."
"I do, I definitely do. I admire the beauty."
"I also." His eyes all the while lingered on me.
"If you want I can make you a corset. The finest one anyone has ever seen."
