Somewhere in England, 19th century
I heard the fortepiano from the other room while concentrating on the lines in the book. It was faint but melodious. I nodded my head, as the rain's pitter patter wasn't enough to drown the song within him. It was understandable that in this rich sociocultural manor, people would love to baptize their ears by playing Beethoven, or Bach, or Tchaikovsky even dancing with it. In this context, let me inform you, people with such extroverted mind and soul where everyone seems to capture a full of wealth and young lad so that their daughters or sons could live off a healthy life be it love or not love, and I was among the lads who was even considered neither to be a suitor nor a subject to suit.
The following day began with a loud cock-a-doodle-do of our dear rooster or my neighbours probably, and by a few pretty minutes or two, a loud yell of my brothers and sisters trailed my mother's loud yelling. The pittery pattery rain has stopped a long ago making me groaningly missed him. Since rain is my only beau, I can love and make mine and who also listens to me and do never persuades me to run errands here and there. Sluggishly, I wiped the dried drool and went to freshen up while my mother and the maids yell for me and my father to reach downstairs for breakfast.
A feisty feast with two sisters and two brothers and one loud mother with relatively silent father, I silently spread the butter on my bread.
"So Mr. Kim, have you heard Mr. Bennet and Mrs. Bennet are organizing a ball in the near week for their only son Elanor Bennet and I have heard from Bingleys, that a fair, young lad namely Mr. Park with a large fortune and dignity will preside the guest appearance." Mother said stuffing a slice of egg inside her mouth, which made her bulkier than she already is, and continued talking about that mysterious young person to my father who was busy eating the tomatoes and reading newspaper.
"So, what business I can possibly hold on regarding this information?" Father said, nonchalantly. On the other day, when my mother and father have conversations, I am the only one who listens regardless of their privacy because everyone would be busy to themselves. Jane would be busy braiding Anne's blonde hair while James would be busy fantasizing about the random boy with puffy muscles who he has seen in the market a week ago, and Arthur would be just to somehow gulp down all the food and meet his fiancé, Elliot. Today was such an exception that even my mother was loud and father was nonchalant, everyone seemed to perk the curiosity to this new mysterious man.
"Oh you poor Mr. Kim," Mother grimaced, her blush turning into anger, " do you not care for your daughters and sons? If either James, or Anne or Jane could marry such bright young man, I could relive on my nerves. My pretty boy Arthur is already engaged which is soul soothing of course." She said smiling at my oldest brother Arthur.
Father looked up to meet mother's face, which made her instantly quirked for finally succeeding in getting his attention, "If that is the issue and you have seemed to forgotten about your another boy, then I think Jungkook is the perfect child to present to that fair person in ball."
"Oh there, there Mr. Kim. You do not just prefer among your own blood. I would never in my thousands life would do so."
"But mother, human only lives till hundred." Jane piped only to earn a glare from my mother who pretended herself busy in serving more toasts to my brother.
"Rest apart, are we going to the ball or not?" said Anne, winking harshly to me. To that I couldn't help but smile.
"Mr. Kim, think about my nerves, do you not love me like you did the first time we met?" Mother said acting so terribly with a hand on her head.
Like before and always, father took the last sip of milk and before heading off, he yelled,
"I have already met Mr. Bennet few weeks ago for some business advisories and he dearly invited all of us to the ball. Rest assured, we had a little time for fathoming about such eligible bachelor. "
With that a huge wave of laughter and squealing ringed our house. But little did I assume I would meet him there, and my life awaiting.
