Chapter Three

For some reason this boy was so relatable even though I know nothing about him and even if I ever get to know him it will be impossible to know everything about him.

We shared the meat and ate our portions. After eating he kept staring at me curiouly. Then I broke the silence by asking him.

"Did you eat well?"

Then with his hoarse boyish voice he said

" Yes... Thank you..."

" What's your name?"

"Ah... Just call me Killion."

" Nice to meet you Killion! Please call me Kira."

I am so excited to meet someone who doesn't despise me. I am overjoyed to have met him. He gave me a small smile and we shook hands.

I felt a sharp pain from my legs and groaned.

Killion got startled and stepped closer to me. He noticed my dress getting red from my blood. His eyes widened at the sight of my blood.

Killion held my hand and tried to help me but I squeezed it and stood up. Then, I looked him in his blue eyes and told him.

"It's ok I'm fine..."

" But you're bleeding!"

" I am wounded, that's all...I have to go back. "

I took my bow and arrows and buried them near the hole on the wall of the estate and went back to my room. I was no longer hungry but exhausted from the hunting and dirty.

When I entered my room I went to the bathroom to clean myself. I filled the bathtub with cold water because nobody would ever prepare me hot water and took off my dirty nightgown.

I stared at my bandaged legs, saw the filthy bloodied bandages and slowly removed them. I was a bit scared to look at the wounds but I could guess that they were severe. I staggered to the bath tub and with a bit of effort I went inside.

I felt the cold water surround me and my wounds burning. I closed my eyes and tried to forget the pain. When I had my eyes closed, I kept thinking of Killion and why I found him so relatable.

Suddenly, just like a vision I saw a handsome young man who resemled Killion, holding a big sword. He looked like a soldier with a fancy armour made with black metal that suits his black hair.

I opened my eyes again and noticed that the water was no longer clear. The colour of the water was red. A vermilion that resembled my hair colour.

I quickly went out of the bathtub and drained the water. I took a look at my wounds and I saw nothing. There was no blood.

Only a white scar that was barely visible. I touched the scar and felt like touching an anaglyph crescent moon. The scar started glowing in a golden light and I felt full of energy.

I dried my hair and wore my brown rag that I had cleaned from the blood stains and then hand washed the nightgown. Then, I went to the library sneakily to not meet anyone who would cause me trouble.

The moment I entered the library, numerous rows of bookshelves tall enough to reach the top of the room, surrounded me. For a minute I stood in awe.

I slapped my cheeks and got back to my senses. I searched through the library for books about magic and the moon.

Hours passed and every book I read said nothing about what I was looking for. Then I went to the very last bookshelf and found a black leather book that looked very different from any other book here.

I grabbed the book and skimmed through it. It was exactly what I searched for. I took the book and returned to my room. On my way to my bedroom I bumped into Torren.

When I saw him, I tried to hide the book. Torren suspected me of planning something and scanned me with his eyes from head to toe.

I took a few steps to the left and kept walking to my room trying to avoid his probable questioning.

*Tsk*

Torren clicked his tongue in disgust and and left. I rushed to my bedroom and lit the candles in the study. I sat on the hard wooden chair and started reading the book.

When I opened the book I felt a chill run down my spine as I saw letters suddenly appearing and filling the seemingly empty pages. On the first page was the sketch of a crescent moon.

That sketch looked exactly like the scar on my left thigh. I brushed my fingers past the sketch and felt a surge of electricity pass through me.

Then as if this book was an unlimited source of knowledge the book floated in the air and the pages kept turning like crazy. Immediately I felt like I could understand each and every part of it. I heard a voice calling my name.

A deep voice that was tickling my ears. I could hear him call me Kira...

" Who are you? How do you know my name?"

"I can see your name carved into your soul Kira... I am the grimoir you just read. To be specific, I am the familiar of this grimoir. Speth."

" Why are you here?"

" You summoned me human. I came to make an oath with you."

"Oath? Aren't these easily broken?"

"Don't take oaths too lightly human. If this oath breaks you will suffer a lot."

" I see... So how do we make that oath?"

"You have to say my name and pledge to never use black magic."

Then I saw it. A little tiger cub. A white tiger with apple green eyes and a snow white fluffy fur. Speth. This tiny animal who will prove to be a powerful beast when grown up.

I approached the cub and knelt in front of it. Then, in the spite of the moment I placed my left hand over the moon shaped scar and pleged to never resort to the dark path of magic and eternal loyalty to my familiar Speth.

Speth, my familiar was now binded with me just how my so called family should be. Then the book disappeared and got swallowed up by my hand.

I stood surprised for a bit and then Speth told me:

" You can always call my name and I'll assist you ".

For the first time in this world I heard such words full of care.

I took my chair and placed it close to the window while watching the crescent moon ruling the night's sky and a shooting star appeared.

My mind wandered to Killion. For some reason I felt that I would see him again. Even so I was still content with the fact that we were under the same sky. I could imagine his milky white skin contrasting with his black hair and his shiny ocean blue eyes observing the majestic showcase of the night sky.

I mean how can a person be so incomparably beautiful?

I realized that it was late and I was indescribably tired. I lied down to bed and fell asleep. Before succumbing to the temptation of falling asleep deeply, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.

Someone was watching me. I felt bloodlust. A dark sensation coming from the direction of the door.

*Phew*

I heard a sigh of relief and then heavy steps approaching me. That person must be an adult and probably male. The only three people who would fit this category were Asher, the head butler who let me starve and an assassin sent by someone.

The thought of the third kind of person terrified me while I kept suppressing any kind of emotion and reaction so as to not be killed immediately.

In my mind I screamed desperately Speth's name and he spoke in my mind. He said to calm down and to not open my eyes for any reason before he tells me to.

I heard the footsteps getting away quickly as if he was running away. Who would want to kill me so much? I was conflicted.

" Speth... Was he going to kill me?"

"...No."

" I see... Do you know who he was?"

" No. But you've met him before."

"Thank you Speth... You are the first one. The first person who saved me. I will make sure to not betray you..."

Speth nodded and disappeared. After that sudden visit, I had insomnia. I walked towards my wooden desk and stepped on something hard.

I lifted my foot and noticed a pendulum. A white crystal with all kinds of colour being specially crafted with silver details and a thick black thread.

I lifted the pendulum from the floor and observed it. Speth appeared out of nowhere and said that this pendulum is very important and that I must keep it close to me.

Many thoughts crossed my mind. One thought was constant though.

Who left it here?

Why?

Whoever left the pendulum here either wants it back or wants me to have it for some reason...
