The Hunters: The Monsters Within

ChapterOne: Spring Break

March 2156

It was the first day of Spring Break in the middle of a GH569 March. For one of the northern cities of Eurmerica, it was a cool and crisp sunny day in a Native city called Moska. It was beginning to over with millions of Earth Undergrounders. The Six-City-States could no longer hold the Normals and the Earth Hunters, so it was decided that it was time to connect to the cities lived in by the Natives, now also named Hunters.

One of the former Earth residents were a family of Earth Hunters. They had just arrived in Moska, a Native city, via train from Parisian. They arrived at a nice looking two-story house that looked like a classic cottage. The teenage son named Joey was looking at his brick phone dated from 2021. His parents walked up to him while holding his baby sister.

His mother said to him, "Joseph, we're going back to the train station. We have to pick up the luggage that was lost. Don't go throwing any parties. You got that?"

Joey gave a smile that would melt everyone's hearts, regardless of age, as he replied, "Yes, mum. No parties allowed."

The mother smiled as she and her husband walked out of the house with their daughter. Joey watched and sat still on the couch as he watched his family leave. He was still as someone waiting for the portrait to be finished as he heard the car drive off. Suddenly, his grew a grin that reached from ear to ear. He took out his phone. He got on his social media app known as O.N.E., and private messaged everyone with this message, "Spring Break Party at my house! I'm finally off of that hellhole called Earth!"

He then added a selfie of himself with a grin and his sun-goggles to all of his friends that made it to GH569. He also texted them to invite their friends that made it to the planet. He son got ready by bringing out the many flavored chip bags and a bowl of fruit punch. He plugged in his 150 year old iPod onto a very advanced stereo system, and started blasting the latest songs.

Before he knew it, his friends that arrived in Moska arrived at his house. The party started off a bit small, but it wasn't for long. Word was spread around all over the area, and soon more people arrived at the house.

Just as the party started to get wild, a figure dressed head-to-toe in black sweats. The hood was covering the face, and apparently looked down on the ground. The figure lurked around everyone, and yet no one noticed this.

At this point, since it's been almost two hours, Joey was quite tipsy. Now quite drunk yet, but he was very much getting there. He noticed the mysterious figure, so he walked up to them, and asked, "Bro! Dude! What's your problem? This is spring break, and we're finally off of that nuclear hellhole!"

The figure looked up at Joey. Even though he was slightly drunk, Joey noticed the figure was a guy. He had a perfect face, but his eyes were quite unusual. The sclera was a normal white color, but his pupils were blood-red.

Joey raised an eyebrow, and asked, "So, what's going on here? Do I know you? Are you one of those Mutants? Or are you one of those double-personality things, like me?"

The guy smirked evilly, and replied, "Both."

Joey was shocked by this statement, so he asked, "How is that possible?"

The guy grinned, "It is, and we exist."

He suddenly put his hands out in front of Joey. He begin lifting Joey off the ground...without even touching him his throat! Joey began choking as the guy tightened his powers. Then suddenly the guy threw him across the room, slamming him into a bookshelf, knocking him out of conscious.

Everyone saw this action, so they started to run after Joey. Yet the guy looked at the curtains, and snapped his fingers. A fire started to ablaze! Everyone screamed, and began running out. One of them grabbed Joey, and carried him out. The guy wasn't even done yet. Just as everyone began running out, he snapped his fingers again, and suddenly all the windows and the doors were locked shut!

Whoever was left in the house began banging on the doors and the windows to escape. Some even attempted to break the windows, but they wouldn't budge! The guy smirked evilly, and disappeared from the house, leaving everyone screaming their lungs out. The ones outside the house tried to open the doors, but to no avail. The only ones truly saved were those who escaped early on, including Joey.

At the military base in Parisian, the commanders were in a meeting. It was being led by Commander Aaron Eckhart, and he began speaking, "There was a report in Moska that a new house was burned down. There was a party in there, and many people had died. They were a mixture of Gen-Mods, Normals, and Earth Hunters. The owners and other party-goers were not present."

Breyden asked, "That news is all over the two worlds. Why is this being brought up?"

"For one, Moska is a recently modernized Native city, so of course it would be brought up. Second, we've deduced the culprit of this act: a hybrid known as a Gen-Hunter."

This made the commanders shocked when they heard this. They've heard rumors that there were Gen-Hunters around, but everyone would brush them off. Everyone already looked down upon that type of relationships. Yet it was true. A Gen-Hunter truly existed.

Aaron continued, "In the meantime, we should begin training the recruit of the Historical Accuracy Division soon. We've received over a hundred potential recruits, all of them high school seniors and college students. They're all both Earth Hunters and the Bittens. We'll then narrow down to the strongest members of the Division."

Breyden nodded his head when he heard this.

It was now evening when Breyden returned home. As he was walked towards the door, he saw Cassie walking next to him. He noticed she was exhausted. Due to her stance and her facial expression.

He asked her, "How was work?"

Cassie sighed, "Way too many people. They were speaking that Native language. I swear, it legit sounds like Russian."

"Sounds like the Natives are taking advantage of the trains and the new currency."

"I guess."

As she flopped onto the couch, Breyden said, "The Historian Accuracy Division has grown tremendously. All the recruits are both Earth Hunters and the Bittens. The commander plans to trim the number down to just the strongest."

"And my friends are just some of the recruits," she said.

"Are they some of the strongest?"

Cassie thought for a moment, and then she replied, "I don't know. None of us know. We never tested their strengths. Hell, I've only seen Damon's Hunter mode, and it was one time."

"Was he strong in that mode?"

"I don't know. I guess. He seemed vicious. Do we have any dinner yet?"

Breyden said, "It's in the fridge. As for Damon, we'll have to get him tested."

It was about an hour or so later. Cassie was doing her homework when got a video call from Damon. She could see he was still in his room. He hadn't move to the base yet, but he was packing up. He gave a smile, but he looked nervous at the same time.

Cassie smiled, "Hey, Damon."

Damon smiled more as he replied back, "Hey, Cass."

"How is the packing going?"

He sighed as he looked back at his half-messy room, "Well, it's going. I'm nervous though. What if I don't get into this troop? What if I never know the answers just because I got rejected?"

Cassie sighed as she asked, "How strong is your Hunter?"

He thought for a moment until he answered, "I don't know. I guess he's strong. I rarely ever summoned him. He wants to at times, but I don't let him. Why?"

Cassie explained to him what Breyden told her. She noticed his expression became defeated. Cassie noticed this, so she said, "I did try to deduce if you'll be in the division, but the feed was blocked. So all I can say is that I hope you'll get in."

Damon sighed, "I hope so. I'm probably not the strongest, but I'll train my Hunter as hard as possible."

Cassie smiled, and touched the screen of her tablet. All she could do was encourage him and give him reassurance. There wasn't much she could do. She was just an Alpha Gen-Mod who couldn't join the division.
