Janus sighed and walked out to the balcony,he smiled as he breathed in the morning air.

He looked to a nest in a gargoyle's mouth where a baby bird was"hey,good morning!"he whispered softly as the bird stretched"so you wanna try flying today?"

The bird chirped and ruffled it's feathers"oh c'mon!i-if I could chose a day to fly.."the bird hoped into his hands"today would be it,the festival of fools!"the bird looked to people setting up a bright and colorful party.

The bird looked up and saw birds flying away,it stood up and chirped happily"go on,you don't want to be stuck in here forever do you?"the bird shook its head then flew,it chirped and flew off.

Janus smiled sadly,the gargoyle suddenly came to fly as he spit out the nesting material"thank god he left!"it complained"well that's what you get for sleeping with your mouth open,Remy."

"Ah your one to talk,Aaron."Remy grumbled then looked down"hey Jan,what's going on down there?a fight?"Aaron hummed"it looks like a festival."

"The festival of fools?"Remy asked excitedly"yup."Janus mumbled"heck yeah,pour the wine and cut the cheese!"Aaron nodded"it is enjoying to see the pageantry of the simple folk."

"Yeah there's nothing like balcony seats to the old FOF!"Janus grimaced"yeah,watching.."Janus then walked back inside glumly,Remy looked to Aaron"what's with him?"Aaron shrugged"maybe he's sick."

"Impossible!"a gargoyle with pigeons on its back hoped over"if 20 years of listening to you two hasn't made him sick already nothing will!"the gargoyles then hoped after Janus.

"But watching the festival has always been the highlight of the year for Janus."Aaron said"what good is a party if you can never get in?"the gargoyle groaned at the birds and shook them away"don't you ever migrate!?"

"He's not made of Stone like us."Janus climbed up to his little room and got to his table of figurines he'd taken years to get right,he could still remember chucking a bad carving and it hitting a man's head.

That just made him more miserable as he played with one of the figures,the gargoyle hoped over"Janus what's wrong?you can tell o' Emile about it!"

Janus sighed"I..I just don't feel like watching the festival,that's all."Emile smiled"well did you ever think of going instead?"Janus nodded"sure but I'd never fit in out there.i'm not..normal."he felt the side of his face were scales like a snake grew as the skin,his yellow-green snake eye and small horns on his head made him nothing more then a freak.

Emile sighed as more pigeons landed on him"you mind?ID LIKE A MOMENT WITH THE BOY FOR TWO SECONDS!"Janus raised a eyebrow at Emile.

"Hey lets stop beating around the bell tower,what do we gotta do?"Aaron smiled"as your guardians we insist you go!"Janus reeled his head slightly"me?"he whispered"no the pope,of course you!"Remy said.

"It would be a very educational visit!"Aaron urged"wine,women,and dancing!"Janus played with his hands as he listened.

"Jan take it from an old spectator,life's not a spectator sport!"Emile said through the chaos of Remy and Aaron"if watching is all your ever going to do your going to watch your life go by without you!"

"Yeah your human,with the hair and flesh."Janus crossed his arms I don't look that human."us,we're just stones!"Aaron said.

"Jan,just grab a new shirt and fresh pants and we can-"Emile grabbed his arm but Janus pulled away"guys,you're missing one thing."

"What?"they said in sync,Janus sat down"my master,Patton.."the gargoyles grimaced,how could they overlook him?

"Well,when he says your forbidden to leave the bell tower does he mean ever-ever?"Janus nodded"forever!and he hates the festival of fools,he'd be furious if I asked."Emile smirked"who said you had to ask?"

"Oh no no!"Janus said"you sneak out!"Remy said"I could never!"Janus retorted"it's only a few hours!"Janus gulped"And~ you sneak back in!"

"He'd never know!"Emile insisted"but if I got caught.."Aaron shrugged"it's better to ask forgiveness then to ask him,right?"Janus hummed just a few hours...

"Your right!I'll do it!"the gargoyles cheered as Janus stood up"I'll get cleaned up!"he said as he started walking"I'll stroll down those stairs!"Janus smiled at his friends.

"March right through that door and-"Janus bumped into a taller man,Patton"Deceit."

The words got stuck in his throat"u-Uh,I-it's j-Janus m-master."he mumbled looking down,Patton hummed"who ever told you that lie?"

No one told Janus and Janus knew it wasn't a lie,his memory had that name etched in his mind and he could hear a woman yelling it.

"N-no one m-master."Patton sat down"very well,lunch?"Janus then turned to his shelf,grabbing a plate and cup for them both.

He then set them down as Patton opened a book"should we go over your alphabet today?"Janus nodded"I'd like that very much master.

(Too many wordss,anywho.how I see Gypsy's in this AU is like human dragon witches with the animalistic features such as fangs and horns but Janus is only half Gypsy making him look different and Janus never really had a good look at a Gypsy before.this making Virgil(playing Esmerelda)to be a dragon witch as well as well as Remus who's the storyteller.i hope this clears things up.)
