*Skye's POV"

It was a few days after we discovered the message, Ryder won't leave the lookout with Chase trying to find the man who wrote the letter. Everyone so far was able to keep calm about the situation, but we're still terrified of the fact that the fenrir may be here... at any moment. *Sigh* I just wish the fenrir wasn't really real at this point...

"Hey Earth to Skye are you there?"

I jumped in shock sending shivers on my fur, bringing me back to the reality.

"Oh.... hey Everest." i said.

"Are you okay Skye?" she asks as she puts her paw on my shoulder.

"Yea Everest i'm fine" i said as i struggle to put on a smile.

"Oh okay, just hollar at me when you need something m'kay?" she reassures me.

"Okay, Thanks Everest." i said.

She then went to the others who we're currently eating lunch, while i stayed on my spot deep in thought while taking in on nature's air and sunshine. *Sigh* i just hope that Ryder and Chase will be fine.....

*Chase's POV*

A few more hours has passed and there is still no sign of this man. Ryder wasn't able to sleep in a few days now because of this, he keeps stressing out about the possibility that the fenrir could've strike at any moment. I'm starting to worry about our leader's lack of sleep so i decided to let him rest and do the work instead.

"Hey there Ryder sir!" i start off.

"Hey Chase, you need something?" he asks.

"Actually Ryder, it's not me that needs something, but you." 

"Me? What is it then?" 

"You need some sleep Ryder sir." i blatantly said as i look at him straight in the eye.

"No need Chase, i'm fine!" he says as he gets more energetic and starts to type something in the keyboards.

"No Ryder, you need sleep. All of us are worried about you, you work so hard to protect Adventure Bay and the world itself! Please let us do our part" i said as i give him a reassuring smile.

He was silent for a moment until he nods in agreement.

"Heh, thanks Chase, i'm grateful to have the best pups like you guys" he said as he lifts me up and hugs me.

"*Giggles*"

After that he went down the elevator to get some rest...

So... it's just me now... Welp, time to get to work.

*A few hours later*

" yawn "

It has been a few hours since Ryder has left to take some shut eye. I have been looking up on these things for hours now and it's starting to take a toll on me now...

I too have not been sleeping for a couple days and i feel like a zombie now... And since i can't let this thing stress me out, i decided to go back to my puphouse and get some rest to, we will just continue this tomorrow. 

When i took off my eyes from the screen, i realized it was actually night time now. Huh, time flies so fast. Last time i looked at the balcony, the sun was up high, now it's the moon's time to shine. Anyways the pups are probably back at their puphouses already, so i figured that i should probably just not disturb them and go to sleep myself. 

As i turned off the computer at the lookout, i walked at the balcony. I wanted to appreciate nature's wonders and take a few moments to re-collect myself. Aside from the fenrir mystery, i also had another problem to sort out these last few weeks, so i never got the time to take a deep breathe and relax. It has been awhile since the last time i did this, and i kinda missed it.

"This never gets old." i said as i breathe in and out.

Ching

Huh? That's the elevator, wonder who could that be...

As i turn around i saw Skye in the elevator.

Wait what, why is Skye here?

"Skye?" i said.

"Hey Chase" she said as she gets off the elevator.

"What are you doing here at this time of the night, shouldn't you be sleeping?" i asked as i walk towards her direction. 

"Well, i just thought that i would check up on you and Ryder, you two haven't been sleeping a lot lately, and i wanna see if you two we're okay." she said as she looks at me with those cherry-blossom eyes, looking at me with concern.

"Thanks Skye, but no need for the concern. I've already made Ryder get some rest, and i was just about to go to sleep!" i said as i gave a small smile to her

"Oh i see... Well, i guess i can sleep peacefully now." she said as she yawns and tries to go back to the elevator.

"Huh?" i suddenly asked.

"O-oh... nothing..."

"Skye, what do you mean by that?" i asked further.

"Oh nothing really.... It's just... I was worried about you and Ryder... that's all..." she said as she faces me again with the worried look on her face.

Gotta admit i was quite flustered when those words came out of her mouth. Never knew she worries about someone that hard. Like yea, she cares about us but i've never seen this side of her...

"Oh... Sorry for making you worry that much, not our intention to make you nor the other pups worry like that." i said as i look at her.

"No no it's okay besides, atleast i know you're okay now..." she said as she also puts a smile on her face.

"Welp we better get going to our puphouses now..." i said as i walk towards the elevator.

"Wait!" Skye said as she pulls my right arm closer to hers.

"Hm?"

"Uh..u-uh...uhm..."

"What is it Skye?"

"C-ca-can i as-ask you something...?" she says struggling to form words.

"Hey hey, it's okay. No need to be flustered just tell me what you want to ask." i said as i pet her soft head.

"O-okay..."

She was a silent for a little bit with her eyes closed and i've waited for her to say the words she wanted to say. Finally she told me what she wanted to say.

"Can i... Sleep... with you tonight??" she asks as her cheeks get red from i don't know what.

I also got flustered by her words and blushed aswell. To be honest, we we're both a blushing mess. I was still flustered by the fact that she wanted to sleep with me... That's actually nothing special at all since she is used to sleeping with the other pups but, with me?? Huh...

"It's just that.... I'm having these nightmares.... about... about..."

"About... that?" i said. 

"Y-yea..." she said as her cherry-blossom like eyes fall down.

This is new to me... Skye has never been this scared before, well atleast she hasn't shown that side of her. She is one of the bravest pups i know, and seeing her this scared makes me unsure whether or not we would be able to find the man and defeat the fenrir. Thinking about it makes me shiver down my spine. But either way, i still have to comfort her as her friend.

"I see," i said as i look down at her. As much as i want to comfort her, i don't know how... Only her, Ryder and Marshall are good at that...

"Hey Chase..." she said as she looks up at me again. Her eyes clearly showing fear and dread... But there's something else... 

"Yes Skye?" 

"Will... will we be okay...??" she suddenly asks me after a long silence.

I was again flustered... Oh goodness me, why do i have to answer that?!

"You know Skye.... i'm not sure anymore..." i said as she lowers her head down in worry.

"But..." i quickly said.

"But..... i believe as long as we have each other... we can do anything.." i continued.

She then looked up at me.

"You know... Not the best speech but... Thanks" she said as she giggles in the end, aswell as i.

Then the silence crawls in. We we're just there, staring into each other's eyes. And not saying a word. Seeing her this vulnerable a moment ago... It makes me wonder, how are the other pups taking this in??? But as their second-in-command, it makes me even more determined to do my best in dealing with this fenrir situation. Usually people who hear such things would just ignore it, but i love how the team is taking this very seriously and doing it's best to take care of it.

Anyways as i was just about to speak Skye speaks.

"Uhm.... So... about..." she says stuttering and shaking.

"Yes?"

She then mumbled the words that i can't seem to understand...

"A little bit louder please?" i said as i prick up my ears.

"So... about... the sleeping with you thing..." she said as her face starts to blush, and not long after, so did mine.

"Oh... that..."

"Nonononononononononononono, please don't think too much about it, i was just..."

"No no it's okay, also.... *mumbles*" i said.

"Huh?" she said as a sign of not understanding my statement.

"It's just that..... i kinda want to sleep with someone tonight..." i say as i blush deeper.

"Oh okay!" she says as she dashes towards the extra sleeping bags on the compartments on the desks.

"Skye?" i said as i look at her confused.

"What? I though we we're sleeping..." she says as she finishes preparing our bed for the night.

"Oh uhm... okay." i said as i walk to our make-up beds.

When i meant that i don't want to sleep alone, i didn't mean it like this though... but i'll take what i can.

As i position myself to sleep, Skye gets close to me. Her fur brushing up to mine and her warmth calming my nervous and cold nerves. It was very comfortable and pleasant to say the least.

"Never thought you we're such a cuddler" i said with a smirk while she blushed lightly.

"It's just that... I wanna cuddle to someone i trust. Looking into our situation, it's probably gonna be a while until things turn back to normal. And i wanna atleast cherish these moments." she said as she leans her head into my shoulder and wrapping her paws into my arm. 

I was blushing like a mad man. Her warmth taking over my cold body is sooo relaxing, and her cuddling makes me have butterflies in my stomach. And so i also did what she did, i rested my head in hers and cherished this moment, she was right afterall.

"Goodnight Skye" 

"Goodnight Chasey"

And so our eyes closed, drifting into dreamland.

But i did felt something touch my lips... I don't know what but i continued to sleep anyways.

Afterall...

We need all the energy we can get...
