Chapter 24 - "His fault"
"Well... do you remember when I told you that I stole the map from my grandpa?" Jeff reiterated, rolling his eyes up and down, left and right.
"So...?" Trugoy asked in turn, focusing on the boy's words.
"I don't want to go into details... but I hit grandpa with a frying pan... right on the head... very hard... very hard..." and he sighed loudly.
As the Village Chief thought, the little boy tried to explain further, but all that came out of his mouth were the sounds of his lamentations, which then turned into tears.
Trugoy, reorganizing his thoughts, decided to make a strategic retreat:
"Your grandpa is a bit shaken, I can see that.
Why don't we go back to the village? Let's regroup, okay?"
Jeff seemed quite taken aback...
The Village Chief then knelt down, inviting the boy to climb onto his shoulders:
"Now you can rest."
Jeff tried to protest, but after a few minutes, he found himself on the Chief's back.
"Don't be sad, your friends are waiting for you. I will keep my word and free them.
I'll take care of this matter."
In front of them, among the trees, two police cars appeared.
"For all the whales, we haven't been here that long!" exclaimed Trugoy, disturbed.
Jeff told Trugoy that it was a checkpoint.
As he scrutinized the cars with a confident and serious look, the Village Chief asked:
"What is a checkpoint?"
