Chapter 9

¤Dawn; Jan 5, 2009
The abandoned observatory
Mt. Alliance¤

Aphmau laid awake against the wall. Aaron was still asleep in his bed, though he was fairly restless in his sleep. He kept moaning, tossing and turning while gripping the bed sheets. Aphmau watched him for a few moments and sighed.

"Maybe Aleena is awake. I kinda wanna ask her about the whole sister, brother thing between her and Aaron. I heard nothing about Aaron having a sister." Aphmau got up slowly and looked around. She walked over to the balcony' s edge and looked over the railing. To her surprise, Aleena was sitting there, playing with something. Aphmau didn't realize it until now, but she seemed quite young. She was only a little taller then herself, and Aphmau was only 4'10.

Aphmau looked over to Aaron when she heard him moan again. Aaron turned his head toward her. He looked like he was having a nightmare, just as Aphmau did the night before. Aphmau walked over to him, standing to his right by the balcony edge. She reached her hand out and placed it on his forehead. He didn't feel like he had a fever, so he probably wasn't sick.

Suddenly, Aaron swiftly grabbed her wrist tightly, his eyes still closed. Aaron opened his eyes slowly and looked up at her, not moving Aphmaus hand away, but still holding her wrist tight.

"What do you think you're doing?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at Aphmau.

"Y-You seemed like you were having a nightmare or something... I was checking if you had a fever, j-just in case." Aphmau answered nervously. Aaron stared at her for a moment, but then he moved her hand down, loosening his grip slightly. Aphmau pulled her hand away slowly, looking down.

"Is Aleena here?" Aaron asked plainly. Aphmau looked back up at him.

"Y-Yea... she's downstairs." Aphmau answered. Aaron sat up and looked at her smirking. Aphmau's cheeks starting turning pink.

"W-What...?" Aphmau looked at him confused. Aaron put his hands on the sides of her neck and pulled her close. They stared into each others eyes, their faces practically touching. Aphmau blushed madly as Aaron closed his eyes, their lips about to meet.

"Brother!" Aaron stopped as Aleena called him. He opened his eyes, not moving away from Aphmau.

"Are you up yet?" She called once again. Aaron pulled away, but kept his hands on Aphmau's neck. He looked down as he spoke.

"I'm up, Aleena. What is it?" Aaron called back.

"Can you go hunt? I wanna make a special lunch!" She answered. Aaron paused for a moment.

"Alright, Aleena. I'll go out soon." Aaron said.

"Thanks~!" Aleena went silent after that. Aaron looked up into Aphmau's eyes once again and pulled her close again. Aphmau blushed, not knowing what to do.

"My sister ruined the moment, didn't she?" Aaron whispered huskily.

"U-Uh..." Aphmau didn't know what to say.

"We'll continue this later." Aaron whispered in her ear. He stood up and walked away. Aphmau was completely frozen, and when she finally turned to look and see if Aaron was there, he was gone.

Aphmau jumped down to where Aleena was. She had started building a small fire.

"Aleena, can I ask you something?" Aphmau said. Aleena turned around and looked at Aphmau.

"Sure, sis!" She said smiling.

"How are you and Aaron siblings? I never saw anything about him having a sister in the village."

"Oh, well... technically, I'm his adoptive sister. He found me crying in the forest about a year and a half ago and took me in. I just started calling him brother, and that's basically it! Now we consider ourselves siblings." Aleena answered.

"That makes alot more sense." Aphmau thought.

"You hungry? I made brother get some food so i could cook something." Aleena said.

"I know. I was awake. And, yeah, I actually am kinda hungry." Aphmau replied.

"Good! You look sleepy. Didn't get enough shut eye last night?" Aleena asked, curious.

"Well... I guess you could say that." Aphmau didn't want to tell Aleena about her nightmare. She wanted to forget she ever had it.

"Well, why don't you go sleep in brother's bed!" Aleena exclaimed. Aphmau blushed as she thought about when Aaron had her sleep in his bed with him. That was the same night he opened up to her.

"W-W-What? I-I don't think that's--"

"It'll be fine! Ill tell brother I told you to. Get some sleep. You'll feel better!" Aleena shoed her to the balcony. Aphmau carefully climbed the crates to the top.

"I can't believe I'm doing this..." she thought as she laid down in Aaron's bed. It was more comfortable then the floor, at least. Aphmau closed her eyes and, before she knew it, she was asleep.

Aaron walked in the observatory.

"Did you get anything?" Aleena asked.

"Its outside. I just finished cleaning it." Aaron answered. Aleena nodded and headed for the door.

"Oh, and brother?"

"Hm?"

"I let Aphmau sleep upstairs in your bed. She was really sleepy. I think she's still asleep." Aleena said and walked out, shutting the door behind her.

"Oh, she is, is she?" Aaron smiled and climbed the balcony. He walked over to his bed, where Aphmau laid asleep and half drooling.

"You're adorable..." he cooed, smiling sympathetically. Aaron didn't want it like this, but he knew if he let her go, she would try to leave the mountain and end up dead.

Aaron pulled his shirt off with his right arm. His shoulder wasn't hurting nearly as much as yesterday. He dropped his shirt on the floor and sat on the bed. He gently pulled Aphmau to him, holding her against his chest. Aaron leaned back against the wall, Aphmau in his arms. Aphmau moaned in her sleep quietly, holding onto Aaron's arms. Aaron felt the heat rush to his face as he blushed lightly. He looked away from Aphmau.

"Aar..." Aphmau trailed off and Aaron looked at her.

"Aaron..." Aphmau turned her head to the side. She was still asleep.

"U-Uh..." Aaron blushed a little harder. After a few minutes, Aphmau groaned and opened her eyes.

"Huh...?" She looked around, then looked up at Aaron, who was doing everything in his power to keep himself from blushing again.

"A-Aaron...?" Aaron stared off into space for a moment, then looked at her, smirking. Aphmau turned around and moved back so she wasn't up against Aaron's bare chest. She blushed when she realized he wasn't wearing a shirt. He leaned forward and pulled her toward him again, this time, she was facing him. She instinctively placed her hands on his shoulders. Aaron put his left hand on the back of her head, pulling her as close as possible without their lips meeting. Aphmau blushed as she looked into his eyes.

"A-Aaron... what are you...?" She trailed off as Aaron blushed lightly. Aphmau was shocked. It was the first time she had seen him blush.

"D-Does that mean... he isn't doing this just to mess with me..?" Aphmau's thoughts were cut off when Aaron finally started kissing her. Aphmau blushed madly and felt like she was going to pass out. After a few moments, Aaron pulled her body closer to his, not breaking the kiss. Aphmau wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes, but didn't kiss back.

"What am I doing...? Am I making out with this guy? Please tell me I'm not that desperate..." Aphmau thought as they pulled away for air. Aaron breathed slowly and heavily, looking down. Aphmau moved her legs and wrapped them around his waist. It was like she wasn't even in control anymore.

Aaron looked into Aphmau's eyes. He hadn't noticed that Aphmau had her legs around him.

"I... I..." Aphmau didn't honestly expect him to kiss her like that. Aaron studied her eyes.

"Y-Your sister will probably be back in any minute and maybe we should help--- Mmh!" Aaron interupted her with another kiss. This time, it was more passionate. Aaron pulled her as close possible, making Aphmau blush. Aphmau didn't know whether to kiss back or not.

"What are the pros and cons of kissing back right now? Well, he is pretty hot, and maybe I can help him with all these issues he's having. Plus, he seems like past these problems, he could be a nice guy. But, if I kiss back, he might take it like he can do what he wants, and knowing him, he would probably do something sadistic and hurt me...

Well... there are more pros and cons..." Aphmau silenced her thoughts and kissed back.

"Pleeeaaase don't take this badly and hurt me..." Aphmau thought as Aaron pulled away slowly. He opened his eyes and ran his hand through Aphmau's hair, making her nervous as he pulled her close again.

"You're afraid..." Aaron whispered, not sounding intimidating, but sounding depressed.

   "A-Aaron, I--"

"Don't... I can see the fear in your eyes." Aphmau didn't know what to say. He was right. She was afraid of him...

"I don't blame you... I deserve to be feared..." Aaron looked down. Aphmau moved her legs so they were at his side instead.

"Aaron... you don't deserve that. No one deserves that. I--"

   "Shh..." Aaron cooed.

"..." Aphmau didn't say a word until Aaron spoke again.

   "Aphmau..."

   "Y-Yes?"

"Have you ever been in love...?" He asked. Aphmau blushed a little.

"D-Does a HighSchool crush count?" Aphmau laughed lightly and Aaron smiled.

"I mean... really in love... like you feel like you could never live without the person." Aphmau didn't really know how to answer.

   "W-Well... no..." she answered.

   "Really?" He sounded slightly shocked.

"Y-Yeah... I never really felt like that about someone before, much less been in a relationship or anything." Aphmau placed her hands back on Aaron's shoulders.

"I'm shocked... you seem like the type who would've been in a relationship at some point at least."

   "I do?"

   "Yes. But..."

"What?" Aphmau asked. Aaron put his hands on either side of her neck, pulling her closer.

"Thats not a bad thing, is it..." he smirked at her and Aphmau had to think for a minute to get what he was saying. She blushed madly.

"A-Are you saying... you have feelings for me...?" Aphmau asked, shocked. Aaron ignored her and moved his head to her neck, kissing roughly. Aphmau was so confused and embarressed that she just sat there and let him do as he pleased. Her eyes widened and she squeaked when Aaron found a sensitive spot on her neck and bit down on it gently, leaving a mark. She saw Aaron's hand go under the pillow next to him, but Aaron moved her to an angle where she couldn't see, moving up and kissing her on the lips again. Aphmau felt something graze the back of her leg lightly and she flinched. Aaron broke the kiss. He held his dagger in his right hand, which was now hanging beside him.

"A-Aaron... what are you doing...?" Aphmau asked confused and slightly scared. Aaron pushed her on her back gently, climbing on top of her. He held the dagger close to Aphmau, making her nervous.

"I can't decide what I want with you..." Aaron said in a whisper.

"W-What do you mean?" Aphmau didn't understand what he was talking about.

"I don't know what I feel for you... love... hatred..." Aphmau didn't understand still. What did he mean by that?

"I need to find out sometime... what better time then now..." he said, holding his knife tightly. Aphmau realized what he meant.

"A-Aaron, n-no!" Aphmau tried to push him off to escape, but he was too strong. He pinned her right wrist down while holding his dagger in his right hand. He paused, thinking.

"Aaron, please... don't do this!" Aphmau begged, and Aaron smirked.

"Keep begging. You look cute when you beg." Aphmau turned her head to the side, shutting her eyes tight.

"You think if you look pathetic enough, I'll stop? Heh... keep trying. It won't work." Aphmau looked him in the eye, silently pleading with him to stop. Aaron ignored her and grabbed her right wrist, seeing the wounds from the first night Aphmau was there.

"It hasn't healed yet? What a shame. Does it still hurt?" Aaron pulled it close to him, Aphmau's hand resting on Aaron's neck. Aphmau felt tears starting to form in her eyes from fear. Aaron took his knife and held the tip to Aphmau's wound.

"Aaron... please..." Aphmau said, getting desperate and starting to cry. Aaron looked stared at her for what seemed like an eternity, but eventually pulled the knife down. Aphmau's eyes widened as he threw the dagger over the balcony railing, causing a loud crash of the metal on the floor when it landed.

"Don't. move." Aaron said in a deep, intimidating voice in her ear. Aphmau shut her eyes tight as Aaron got of her. He walked to the railing, climbed it, and jumped down. Aphmau heard him shifting through something.

Aphmau couldn't move even if she wanted to. She heard Aaron climb back up the balcony. She opened her eyes and Aaron walked into her view, holding something behind his back. Aaron pulled his hand away from his back and held it out to Aphmau. He was trying to hand her a gun. Aphmau sat up, looking at the gun.

   "Why are you--"

"Take it." Aaron said in a commanding voice. Aphmau took the gun.

"Shoot me." Aaron said in a serious tone. Aphmau's eyes widened.

"W-W-What?! No! I can't... shoot you!" Aphmau tried the put the gun behind her back, but Aaron grabbed her hand, forcing her to point the gun at his chest. His eyes were slowly changing red, which had never happened in the light.

   "N-No... I can't... Aleena--"

"I don't care. Do it." Aaron felt Aphmau's hand start to shake.

"No... I can't be the weak one anymore."  Aphmau tried to pull her hand away, fighting Aaron.

"I thought you of all people would want this." Aaron said, pulling her arm behind him, pulling Aphmau onto him. Aphmau fought back, trying to get free.

"Why would I want to murder you when I could be helping you?!" Aphmau yelled, getting frustrated. Aaron froze, his eyes widened.

"H-Help... me...?" Aaron murmered. Aphmau pulled her hand away, falling onto the bed. Aaron stared at her. Aphmau ran past him and climbed the railing, jumping down to the bottom floor. Aaron watched her for a moment, then followed her. She went to the door, opening it and running out. Aaron walked slowly, following her outside. Aleena was no where in sight. Aphmau looked at the gun in her hand, then got ready to throw it. Aaron grabbed her wrist, stopping her. Aphmau looked at him. He took the gun from her slowly and gently. He pointed it up, looking down. He shot off the gun until there were no more bullets. Aphmau flinched from the loud noise. Aaron slowly moved his arm down to his side, turned, and walked back to the observatory. Aphmau watched him close the door. Aphmau looked down at Phoenix Drop. She longed to see her mother again... but...

"I can't leave Aaron behind... I have to help him and take him home. He needs me." Aphmau stared down at her village.

"He's a handful, isn't he?" Aphmau whipped around as she heard a voice. It was just Aleena.

"I know my brother isn't in the best... condition... but that's why I'm glad your here." Aleena walked next to Aphmau, staring at the village with her.

"You came from there, didn't you?" Aleena said. Aphmau looked at her.

   "Y-Yea. I did."

"I know my brother kidnapped you. It didn't take long for me to figure it out." Aleena sighed. Aphmau was shocked. She was smarter then she looked.

"I'm sorry, sis. I hope he hasn't hurt you to much..." Aleena turned to Aphmau. Aphmau paused and looked back down to the village.

"I just hope you can help him. He's seems more... messed up them he should be." Aleena turned and walked back to the observatory. She stopped half-way and looked back at Aphmau.

"I'll make food later, by the way. I hope you don't mind." She finished and continued walking to the observatory. She opened the door, walked in, and shut the door quietly. Aphmau turned back to the village one last time, and then followed Aleena back into the observatory.

"That girl... that girl needs to die..."
