Chapter 2 {REWRITTEN}

   If you are confused as to why this is a rewritten version of chapter 2, please read the two A/N's titled "Future Edits Coming Possibly(?)" and "This is happening-- Hold on to your butts."

Now read on, fellow fangirl/fanboy ;)

   Aphmau's house
   Phoenix Drop, Ru'an¤

   "You ready?" Katelyn asked, sitting on the window sill in Aphmau's room. Aphmau looked at her and was reminded of when they were squished together watching blue and red lights flash.

   "As ready as I'll ever be." Aphmau murmured out her reply before looking down at her attire. They both wore black pants and hoodies. Aphmau was wearing black finger-less gloves on top of that.

   "We look like robbers..." Aphmau said, scanning Katelyn's black attire.

   "Well, we are planning on breaking and entering. What did you expect?" Katelyn said, unamused. Katelyn exited the window, standing on the roof right under it. She hung off the edge of the roof and dropped down, landing in the bushes. Aphmau followed her.

   "Mom's gonna kill me if she sees the bushes..." Aphmau thought

   "Well, Sherlock? Lead the way." Katelyn ushered Aphmau to go in front. Aphmau nodded and they walked out toward darkness.

   Aphmau and Katelyn approached the Aaron's house. They walked up on the porch in front of the front door.

   "Okay, we're here. How do we get in?" Katelyn gazed expectantly at Aphmau.

   "Um, I... uh..." Aphmau glanced around before looking at the ground. "I don't know." Katelyn stared at her in shock.

   "What do you mean you don't know?! You're the one who wanted to come here, but you don't even know how to get in?!" Katelyn whisper yelled at her as to not wake up anyone on the street.

   "N-No. I didn't think about it! I was more worried about what we would do when we got---"

   CRASH

   "What the-- KATELYN?! What did you do?!" Aphmau shrieked

   "Shh! Its fine, its abandoned anyways!" Katelyn said as she stood next to the window she had just broken.

   "C'mon." She beckoned as she climbed through the window. Aphmau groaned nervously as she followed Katelyn inside.

   "Woah..." Aphmau and Katelyn's eyes widened as they looked around.

   "It looks like a freaking tornado came through here. Not to mention it looks like the house is completely furnished. Did his mom not take anything when she left?" Katelyn rambled, picking up random objects, just to inspect them and drop them again.

   "We should probably look for Aaron's room." Aphmau looked up the stairs before walking up them. When they got upstairs, they walked into the first room they saw. They looked around. It certainly seemed like his room.

   "This must be it, huh? It's a clean room. Not really what I expected when you compare it to downstairs." Katelyn walked over to the nightstand. Aphmau glanced around the room. Katelyn was right. The room looked completely untouched.

   "Look here." Katelyn walked over to Aphmau, holding picture. Aphmau took it and looked at it closely. It was a picture of a dark haired boy with a dark-haired girl. The guy was pretty tall compared to the girl.

   "This must be them. Aaron and Lily." Katelyn looked over her shoulder, scanning the picture again.

   "The guy's kinda cute." Katelyn muttered, continuing to search the room.

   "So is she." Aphmau continued studying the picture. She recognized the background as being...

   "Mount Alliance!" Aphmau suddenly shrieked, making Katelyn jump.

   "What the heck?!"

   "Think about it! If you didn't want to be found, where would you go? I'd say the mountain that's rumored to be cursed would be a good place to go if you didn't want to be found." Aphmau explained. Katelyn frowned.

   "But why would he not want to be found?"

   "Maybe he was kidnapped? Or maybe he's lost and doesn't know how to get back! Or maybe--"

   "Or maybe he's DEAD. Aphmau, come on." Katelyn interrupted.  "It's been two years. Even if he lived for a little bit after the accident, there's no way he's survived two years by himself, especially if he went on that cursed mountain."

   "Oh, come on, Katelyn. You don't believe in that curse mumbo jumbo, do you?" Aphmau rolled her eyes.

   "Well, have you ever been up the mountain and back?" Katelyn put her hands on her hips and furrowed her eyebrows.

   "No, but that's why I don't believe it. What I do believe is if there is any chance at all that he is up there, I have to try. Even if he really is dead... maybe there will be evidence so there is at least more closure." Katelyn sighed. She knew Aphmau wasn't going to give this up.

   "Fine, fine." Katelyn sighed.

   "I'll go to Mount Alliance in the morning, it's not that far from here anyways."

   "Wait, alone?" Katelyn said, shocked.

   "Yeah, I'll be fine, Katelyn. There's no such thing as cursed mountains anyways. I'll see if anyone's up there, and then come home. Hopefully, not alone." Aphmau replied with confidence.

   "I seriously hope you know what you're doing." Katelyn murmured.

   "You already said that, and I have it under control. Now, let's get out of here and get some sleep." Aphmau walked out of the room. Katelyn hesitated before following her.

   "Please don't do anything stupid when you get up there, Aph..."

   The Abandoned Observatory
   Mount Alliance¤

   Aphmau finally made it up the mountain, exhausted. She looked in front of her and widened her eyes at the sight. She saw a small, run down observatory with flat plain around it for a few yards. Around the plain was a thick forest. Aphmau dragged herself closer to the observatory, shielding her face from the wind.

   "I never even knew there was an old abandoned observatory up here... maybe Aaron's inside!" Aphmau run up to the door excitedly, and knocked on it. "Hello? Anyone in here?"

   Silence.

   "Hello?!" Aphmau yelled.

   Still silence. Aphmau groaned. She gently pushed on the door and it didn't budge. She then pushed on the door and jumped when it cracked open slightly. She fist pumped and walked into the observatory.

   "Uh, hello?" Aphmau stepped into the total darkness. The only light came from the slightly opened large doors and the small circular window above her. Aphmau slowly walked forward, starting to get nervous. The spacious area felt ominous.

   "H-Hello?" She called again, with no answer. Yet she still felt like she was not alone. She gasped and whipped around at a large banging noise. The doors were shut.

   She was trapped.

   She stiffened as she heard the sound of feet hitting the ground. She turned back around, the light from the small window illuminating the outline of a figure. The figure straightened. All Aphmau could make out were the bright, blood red eyes shining at her.

   "Who are you? What are you doing here?" The figure turned its head slightly as it spoke. Their voice was dead. Definitely male.

   "I-I think I should be asking you that question!" Aphmau retaliated. The red eyes narrowed, before the figure stepped forward slightly. Aphmau's eyes widened and she backed up slightly. The figure stopped, but not before the light illuminated him just a little bit more. Aphmau could make out his raven, disheveled hair and he looked even taller and more intimidating.

   "I'm only going to ask you one more time. Who are you, and what are you doing here?" He asked again in a deep, husky voice. Aphmau knew not to try his patience.

   "I'm Aphmau. I'm here to find a man who went missing two years ago." Aphmau announced her purpose with confidence that she had already completed her mission. The figure looked away for a moment before looking back at Aphmau.

   "What makes you believe you'll find him here?" He asked.

   "Because I already have, Aaron." Aphmau answered. His eyes widened before narrowing again. Before she knew it, Aphmau was lying on the ground with a sharp pain in her head.

   "W-What the..." Aphmau murmured, her vision failing. She looked up at Aaron's blurry figure as he loomed over her.

   "You shouldn't have come here, Aphmau." He whispered darkly as her eyes fluttered closed, slipping her away from reality.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   All finished. Pretty different from the original, huh? I didn't like the idea of Aaron being a kidnapper out right, so I thought this would be better. Aphmau is just to curious for her own good. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
   Chapter 1 is officially being unpublished and is being moved to its new home in my book, "Just for Funzies." If you ever want to read the original, go there! The same thing will happen to the original version of chapter 2 once the rewritten version of chapter 3 comes out.
