Chapter 11

¤Night; Jan 5, 2009
The abandoned observatory
Mt. Alliance¤

Aleena had come back and given Aphmau shoes. It was pretty late and everyone was asleep. Aphmau was just laying on the first floor of the observatory.

Suddenly, she heard a door creaking open. She shot up instantly, staring at the slowly opening door.

"W-Who's there?" Aphmau asked shakily. Suddenly, a familiar face poked its head through the doorway.

"K-Katelyn?" Aphmau said in shock.

"Aphmau!" Katelyn ran to Aphmau, practically suffucating her with a hug.

"It's really you! You're here! I can't believe I found you. Oh, I've been so worried!" Katelyn grabbed her hand and tried to pull her towards the door, but Aphmau broke free from her grip.

"Katelyn, you need to leave NOW! Please... If he finds out you're here--"

"If who finds out I'm here? Don't you want to go home...?" Katelyn sounded confused.

"Of course I do! But, I can't let you stay here. Please, Katelyn, leave! For your sake!"

"But... Aphmau..." Suddenly, they heard footsteps from the balcony. It was Aaron.

"Katelyn, leave, now!"

"Aphmau, who else is here? Did you... get kidnapped?! Aphmau, c'mon, we both need to leave!" Katelyn grabbed Aphmau's hand once more, dragging her to the door.

"No, Katelyn, you don't understand! Aaron--"

"Aaron?" Katelyn quickly turned around, letting Aphmau go.

"You really found Aaron?" Katelyn said, shocked.

"It doesn't matter right now! Leave!"

"Hey!" A commanding voice rang throughout the observatory. Aphmau and Katelyn froze instantly.

"No..." Aphmau murmered.

"Who are you?!" Katelyn yelled, ready to fight.

"I should be the one asking you that." Aaron stepped in the light, his eyes blood red instead of black.

"Hey! Don't move any closer!" Aaron didn't stop, but only came closer and closer to Katelyn and Aphmau. Katelyn stepped in front of Aphmau.

"Did you kidnap my best friend?!" Katelyn yelled, furious.

"Kidnap is a strong word, don't you think?" Aaron smirked at Katelyn, still getting closer and closer. Aphmau pulled Katelyn back, standing in front of her.

"Aaron, stop!" Aphmau yelled. Aaron stopped, looking at her.

"Don't hurt her! You can do anything you want with me, just don't hurt her. Please..." Aphmau begged as Aaron watched her.

"Wait... that's Aaron?!" Katelyn said. Aaron and Aphmau ignored her. Aaron stared at Aphmau intently.

"Anything?" Aaron narrowed his eyes at her and she froze. She looked him in the eye.

"Anything." Aphmau finished.

"Aphmau, no!" Katelyn yelled. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Aphmau was practically selling her soul to this red-eyed---

"Wait... red-eyed..? Aaron didn't have red eyes in the picture!" Katelyn thought in realization. This can't be Aaron... could it?

"Listen well." Aaron said to Katelyn. Katelyn looked at him. Aphmau was now standing beside him, looking down.

"Aphmau has convinced me to give you a very rare opertunity that I would never give." Katelyn didn't understand what he meant.

"You should be grateful. I'll let you leave this mountain peaceful under one condition." Aaron continued.

"You tell no one of this encounter, and you never come back." Aaron finished. Aphmau looked to Katelyn as if begging her to take the offer and leave.

But Katelyn wasn't having it.

"No." She said firmly.

"Katelyn, please! Just take the--" Aaron quickly grabbed Aphmau, pulling her close and covering her mouth so the rest of her words were muffled.

"Now, now, Aphmau..." Aaron whispered something in her ear that Katelyn couldn't understand. Aphmau gave up struggling at his unheard words, her head hanging.

"Don't you understand? Do you wish to share the same fate as your friend? Or are you just so hard-headed that you can't see what's infront of you?" Aaron challenged.

"I do understand." Katelyn said with confidence.

"And neither of us are sharing what you call her fate! I'm leaving this mountain and I'm taking her with me." Katelyn continued.

"And, yeah, I see somethin'. I see a psycotic and insane man who kidnapped my best friend! So you listen well, Aaron. I'm not leaving without her, and I won't let you get in my way!" She stood firm, ready to fight. A fiery passion and will burned in her eyes. Aaron removed his hand from Aphmau's mouth, throwing her on the ground.

"He doesn't like being called insane..." Aphmau whispered loudly and shakily.

"Alright then." Aaron relaxed his shoulders.

"Katelyn, is it? It's a shame you won't live long enough to tell others your name." Almost immediatly, Katelyn charged at an inhuman speed. She jumped, her foot soaring toward Aaron. Without any effort, Aaron caught her foot, a devilish glint in his eye.

"Checkmate." Aaron said as he pulled her back by her foot, slamming her against the floor.

"Katelyn! No!" Aphmau tried to run to Katelyn, but Aaron grabbed her around her waist and threw her back.

"No!" Aphmau screamed as Aaron knocked Katelyn out with a kick.

"Leave her alone!" Aphmau yelled, grabbing Aaron and pulling him away. She fell to the ground next to Katelyn and tried to wake her up. Aaron pulled her back and on to the ground. He grabbed her and pulled her up, slamming her against a post.

"You have explaining to do." Aaron said.

"Who is this girl? How did she know where you were?!" Aphmau didn't answer.

"Answer me!" Aaron said sternly. Aphmau once again didn't answer.

"Don't force my hand, Aphmau. If you want to make it away from this unscathed, you will answer me." Aaron threatened.

"You think I'll answer to you after what you've done? I can handle you torturing and abusing me, but when you touch my friends and my family, you've crossed the line." Aphmau said, not backing down. Aaron had an anger in his eyes that seemed like it could burst out at any second.

Suddenly, Aaron fell to the ground in pain. Katelyn had hit him over the head with a box that was on the junk table.

"C'mon!" Katelyn yelled. Aphmau quickly ran with Katelyn toward the door.

"S-Sister...?" Aphmau turned her head anf stopped. Aleena was standing there, tears in her eyes. She stared Aphmau down in disbelief.

"Aphmau, c'mon!" Katelyn said. Aphmau ignored her, still staring at a sobing Aleena. Aphmau looked down, not knowing what to do.

"I..." Aphmau said. Aaron watched Aphmau, confused.

"Hurry!" Katelyn yelled. Suddenly, Aphmau got a chill down her spine, almost feeling a dark aura.

"W-What the...?" Aphmau looked around for the source of the ominous feeling, but saw nothing.

"You... you've interfered long enough..." Aphmau, looked around, terrified.

"D-Did you hear that?!" Katelyn and Aleena also looked terrified, telling Aphmau that they heard it as well. She looked to Aaron, who was on guard, ready to fight.

"It's him..." Aaron murmered.

"The shadow..." Aleena said, backing up. Aaron walked slowly toward Aphmau and Aleena. Katelyn ran to Aphmau. They all came closer together.

"You search for me when I'm right in front of you." Aphmau couldn't find the source of the sound. It seemed like it was coming from everywhere at once.

"Look to the door." Immediatly, Aphmau turned to the door. A shadow-like figure stood in the doorway. The only thing that was distinct about it were it's glowing... red... eyes...

"Just like Aaron's eyes..." Aphmau turned to Aaron and his eyes were now also red.

"If any of you, except the blue-haired girl, try to leave this mountain... well..." The figure looked exactly Aaron's shadow. The shadow looked at Aaron.

"Let's just say you'll see Lily sooner than expected..." The shadow smirked. Anger was flowing in Aaron's eyes. Aleena looked terrified.

"Nothing? I expected a react---" Aaron immediatly charged, cutting the shadow off. But, before Aaron could attack, he stopped in his tracks.

"Now, Now..." Aaron fell to his knees, groaning in pain.

"You'll get your chance... someday." The shadow faded and reappeared in front of Katelyn.

"Don't hurt her!" Aphmau yelled as the shadow grabbed her.

"Hurt her? Never." The shadow looked back to Katelyn.

"Sweet dreams... forget" Katelyn passed out as soon as he finished.

"And as for you..." The shadow dropped Katelyn, walking to Aphmau.

"N-No..." Aaron muttered so quietly that no one heard.

"Sleep..." Aphmau felt herself start to black out. She fell to the floor unconscious.
