Chapter 29

But they weren't the only people watching the two lovers. From afar an enemy was watching. Bolg, son of Azog the defiler. Azog was furious when his massacre didn't destroy every last one of the dwarves. Now, he's back for another try. But he's taking a more personal approach.

Bolg reported back to his father. He told him what he saw.
"The eldest brother was dancing with a dwarven maid. Thorin, Dís, Kili, and other dwarves were watching."
"This dwarven maid, did she have long brown hair? Was she actually pretty for a dwarf? Did he call her by the name Dalila?" Azog asked Bolg.
"Yes master."
"Dalila has returned. What a wonderful day." He smiled wickedly.

How does Azog know Dalila? Well, when the orcs were killing the dwarves those 34 years ago, he stayed out of sight. He didn't want Thorin to know he was alive just yet. But, he did go in one of the houses. The house farthest out of a town. The house belonged to Anila, Dalila, and Bofur. They hadn't heard of the massacre yet for they were so far out of town. When Bofur answered the door he was knocked out cold. He didn't have time to realize who Azog was. Azog went into the bedroom where Anila and Dalila were sleeping. Anila instantly grabbed a sword and readied herself for a fight. Azog laughed at her. He knew she couldn't fight him. But she proved him wrong. She's the one that put the other scar on his face. But he was stronger. He pushed her down and plunged the knife in her stomach.
"Dalila." Was her last word. The baby was crying. Azog walked towards the baby.
"You must be Dalila. I will spare you because your mother put up a good fight. It will be her reward."

That's the one day Azog showed mercy. It was also his last time. Now, he's glad he spared her. For she holds the key to the eldest brothers heart. He can destroy them all with one girl.

Since then, he's been watching Dalila. Admiring from afar. He knew of her romance with the prince but he didn't think it'd go this far. He felt something. Something he never felt before. Was it jealously? Was he jealous of the prince? Or was he overjoyed that he could now over power them? Maybe it's a little of both?

"We leave at dawn. Just me and a few warriors. I have a plan..." Azog commanded.
