Chapter 16
Dalila didn't know what to do. That evening when Thri left she went for a walk. In the forest between Ironhill and the Blue Mountains there's a little cottage. That cottage is owned by Radagast the Brown. When Dalila was younger and didn't have any friends besides Fili should would come here. Radagast treated her like her own. She made friends with all the animals.
"Oh Radagast! I don't know what to do! Fili is my one true love but it can't be. Thorin won't let it. And now everyone wants me to marry Prince Thri!" She cried.
"There there child. It'll all work out for the better." He assured her.
"If I have to marry Thri I'll surely die. I'll kill myself if I have to."
Radagast didn't know what to do. He looked around his cottage looking for inspiration.
"Aww! That's it!" He started mixing things together.
"What are you doing?" She asked him.
"This my child is the answer to your problem." He handed her the little bottle.
"What is it?"
"It's a potion. Be nice to Thri and agree to marry him this week. The night before the wedding drink this. It's a sleeping potion. You won't wake up for 48 hours. Everyone will think you're dead. You'll be put in your family's vault. I'll send word to Fili and in 48 hours we'll come get you. And off you two can go. But you must be brave." He explained.
"Give it to me. Don't talk to me about bravery. Thank you Radagast!" She took the bottle and hugged him.
Someone burst through the door. It was Kili.
"What are you doing?" She asked him. His sword was drawn.
"I heard crying and I recognized the voice. I thought you were in trouble."
"I'm not in trouble. But thank you. Why do you come this way?"
"Your father sent a letter with the stupidest servant around. It was for Thorin. Me and Fili read it of course. Your father said you were to be wed to Thri Thursday. I came to see what I could do to prevent it."
"Well we have already solved the problem. Wednesday night I'll take this poison and people will think I'm dead but I won't be. And in 48 hours I'll wake up and Fili and Radagast are going to come get me." She said confidently.
"Should I go tell him now?"
"No. Wait till Wednesday morning so he's not anxious. Stay here." Radagast answered.
~back at Dalila's house~
"Nalur, is Thri coming for dinner tonight?" She asked her cousin.
"He can. Would you like him to?"
"Yes. I need to talk to him."
"I'll send for him." Nalur smiled.
Later that night Thri arrived for dinner. It was very uncomfortable for Dalila because he kept staring at her. But she tried her hardest to act interested in him.
"So Dalila, Nalur said you had to talk to me about something?" He asked her.
"Yes. I've thought about your offer of marriage. And I decided to accept it." She said calmly.
"Really?! That's-that's the best news I've ever heard! We'll be wed tomorrow." He said thrilled.
"No not Wednesday. Let's be wed Thursday. We'll have one day to prepare and rest."
"Yes Thursday! My love I'll leave you be till Thursday morning and I'll send for you. Until then keep this kiss as a token of my love." He kissed her forehead.
"I'll see you Thursday." She faked a smile...again. Thri left with a spring in his step.
"Well...that wasn't what I expected." Nalur chuckled.
"What'd you expect?"
"For you to tell him to leave you alone and not so much even think of you."
"No. I've decided this wedding is for the best."
"You'll grow to love him Dalila. He's a good and noble dwarf. And he's from the line of Durin."
"I know."
