Epilogue
A/N:
Ladies and gentlemen
It's been an honour journeying with you
Two Weeks Later...
"You know, this is about the spot where I fell in love with you," Lar fell on his back on the grass, looking up at the full moon shining through the clouds.
Lizz flopped down beside him, nuzzling into his side as she laid her head on his shoulder with a sigh, "If only things were still as simple as before."
He curled his arm around her, "Life is never simple."
Lizz snorted, playing with his fingers, "I realize that now," she tilted her head to look at him a little, "You know, I spent about four years living with Skales and Selma, thinking nothing of how I looked more... human than they did."
"Four?" Lar raised an eyebrow, "But-"
"That's a long-ass story involving Ninja, some damn comics I wanted one day and a wazzed-up kinda tea or something," she shook her head, "Just... best not to get into it."
Lar snorted, "If you say so."
The two laid like that for a little while, stargazing in the dewy grass as the minutes ticked by into an hour where no one bothered them about anything, hopefully forgetting they'd gone out there. Lizz was just beginning to doze off when Lar spoke again, "What are you going to do?"
Lizz hummed, "Hmm? Oh... you mean about that."
"Yes, I mean about that," Lar poked her in the side, making her jump, "They want you to be part of their team, their family."
"And what if I want all you guys to be my dysfunctional family?" she asked, "Griffin, Neuro, Ash, you, Shade, Tox, Gravis, Karlof, Jacob, Paleman, Bolobo. Hell, I'd even settle for Skylor and Chamille at this point in time!"
Lar laughed, the feeling reverberating through his chest, "But you have a family. Lloyd..." he paused, "Whatever your parents' names are, that one with the beard. They're related to you by blood. That's not something you can't ignore."
"I can ignore, it, though!" she grinned, "I'm ignoring it now and have been since I found it out, and so I shall keep ignoring it until I've come down from my terrifying experience," she meant the Digiverse incident. That was the only terrifying experience in her life. Though she was physically recovered and had been for about a week and a half, she was still far from mentally recovered and still needed aid in falling asleep at night.
"Lizz," Lar pulled his arm out from under her head and sat up, putting one arm over her to brace himself up as he gazed down at her seemingly innocent features, "Don't do what I did with my life, okay? I was lost as a baby... grew up by myself, but one day I found my mother..." he shook his head, blinking rapidly against what Lizz thought were tears, "I ran. Never looked back. 've been running ever since... I didn't think she'd want me back after my... abilities came in," he locked eyes with her again, "Don't do that. Learn from my mistakes. Our mistakes. Everyone here, their families aren't by their sides anymore. This is a one-for-all place."
Lizz frowned. No one here has a family anymore? She knew what it felt like to be an outsider--hell, she kind of felt like one now. Without thinking properly, she sat up and hastily pressed her lips to his, reaching behind his head to pull him closer. Lar's one hand went to the back of Lizz's neck and the other buckled, laying the two back down in the grass without breaking away.
She flipped them over so she was straddling his hips, her hands tangling further in his shaggy blonde hair. Lar's hands wandered to her hips and then up her shirt--which was really his shirt--a little, his rough fingertips ghosting over her smooth skin, there.
Lar took in a deep breath through his nose, their kiss becoming even more heated; all teeth and tongue and ragged breathing. The two were so wrapped up in each other they hadn't heard the four throat-clears. The fifth one was followed by a loud voice, "Will you two stop that?"
Lizz flipped quickly off Lar, rolling to the left of him as he sat up. Both were wiping furiously at their hair, Lizz fixing her shirt and Lar wiping a bit at his mouth where Lizz bit him, "Griffin! What the hell?!"
Griffin was giving them a smug look, "Hate to interrupt your... alone time, but there's someone here for her," he gave a nod towards Lizz, whose ears were red.
She stood up, brushing off her clothes, "I don't want to see anyone."
"I could think of someone you want to see, sweetcheeks..." Griffin mumbled, turning on his heel before walking away at a normal speed for once.
Lar stood up, scratching the back of his neck, "Um..."
"Yeah..." Lizz patted his bicep and walked away, back towards the Monastery.
Once inside, Lizz paused in the doorway, blinking against the lights before walking in, "Hey, Tox," both her and the bright green girl stopped in the entryway, "Do you know where-"
"He's talking to Shade and Jacob in the lounge room over there," she nodded her head back in the direction, "Last door on the right."
Lizz smiled, "Thanks."
Toxikita was then replaced with Lar, "Lizz-"
"I'm on a mission, hold on," she held up a finger and walked in the direction Tox pointed her in. Finally reaching the door, Lizz didn't hesitate to throw it open and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the guest, "Kai?"
Kai turned in his seat, turning away from Jacob and Shade to look at Lizz. He frowned she he saw her slightly disheveled look and swollen pink lips, "Lizz?!"
Lar popped in behind Lizz, looking twice as worse, "Kai?"
"Lar," Kai greeted flatly.
"You two come in here," Shade stood up, "It's too bright in here and I need a shower. Goodnight Lizz," he grabbed her shoulder and gently kissed the top of her head before slipping out the door.
"Jacob, you take a rest, too," Lizz suggested, sitting in Shade's unoccupied chair. It was stone cold, despite him sitting there for who knows how long, "G'nighty night."
"Good night you two," Jacob smiled at them and closed the door behind him.
"Okay, what?" Lar sat in Jacob's chair, looking at Kai. He still had a bit of a grudge against him from the Tournament.
"We want our sixth team member back," Kai placed his arms on the table and looked at Lizz with hopeful eyes, "Please?"
Lizz sighed and leaned back, "Why? The team doesn't need me."
"I need you, Lizz," Kai pleaded, "Please?"

The end
*curls into a ball and begins crying*
In case you haven't noticed, I kinda suck at ending books...
