Mission Impossible-11

Lynn's POV

Find the others, this task is proving to be pretty impossible! But those two "people" that Drew saw have to be the others right? After all, the guy in Drew's dream said that there were three others and I'm guessing that meant himself included so yeah I'm right, right?

Alex tapping on my shoulder brought me out of my revelation. "Lynn," he whisper-yelled while pulling me toward a more secluded area. This must be something important because obviously, he didn't want Drew to hear it. He pulled the piece of paper out of his pocket and continued with, " So you know how this paper is telling us we don't have much time for some so-called war?"

"Well, yeah," I said nodding simultaneously fiddling with my long hair. "But I think we both know this is going to a war with Zayn and that even with the help of this weird unknown guy giving us tips we're going to lose." I inhaled slowly looking at Alex for his opinion.

"See that's the thing," Alex commented handing me the paper, " I don't think this is Zayn, flip the paper over."

I looked over my shoulder to make sure Drew wasn't eavesdropping. When it appeared to me that he was sleeping I turned back to Alex and nodded. I slowly slipped the paper over to see a symbol; it was a staff with two snakes intertwining around it. Under the picture, a sort of caption like thing read: Although this war is sibling against sibling it's not the two you may think. "What does this mean?" I asked not quite getting the point of any of what I had seen.

"That picture," Alex stated pointing at the snake staff, "Is my family's crest. You may have seen it around the house."

I nodded slowly, "but what does that have to do with anything?"

Alex's eyes widened as he continued talking, "That's just it! Two snakes intertwining on a staff is a sign of medicine or medical practice, and do you remember what my mother's powers are?"

Just then something clicked in my brain. "This has been your parents all along! They let Zayn think he was the evil one, the one behind all of this but in reality, it was them! Everything has gone along with their plan! This can't be a part of their plan though so who sent us this? The person who is helping us must be someone who knows your family because they knew your mother has the power to inflict pain on others. They also knew that your father gained has Achilles heel like powers through a medical procedure his mother had when he was born and that that symbol was your family crest. But who would know all of this?"

I glanced over at Alex and he shrugged his shoulders. "That's about as far as I got" he sighed, " except I have one more question." He glanced over his shoulder I'm guessing to make sure that Drew was still asleep before he continued, " If Zayn isn't really evil does that mean that he could be a..."

His voice trailed off but I knew what he was going to say. We both looked at each other hoping that we were wrong. Praying that there was no way that Zayn could be what we thought. "An other." I said, finally saying the thing we both dreaded.

"Yeah that," Alex said shuddering at the terrifying thought, " But he can't be I mean after all the things he and his friends put me through he can't just be magically good, can he?" He peered at me longing in his eyes hoping that I could give him some hope, but there was none to give. For once I didn't have an answer, and I hate it!

"I don't know!" I cried frustrated, "People said a ton of things weren't possible that apparently are! I mean we have superpowers for crying out loud!" I ran my hand through my hair roughly only stopping to work on a large knot that had formed. "Oh, and not to mention we just suddenly appeared in the middle of the jungle with no food or means of communication to the outside world, if there even is one now!" Well, I think it's safe to say if Drew wasn't awake before he certainly is now.

Alex stared at me wide-eyed mouth hanging open but not saying a word. He's not going to tell me what he's thinking! Fine! It's a good thing I can read minds! So I tapped into his thoughts and almost wished I hadn't. "Lynn remember the cheetah Drew described?" he thought.

"Yeah, I do. Why?" I communicated back still looking at the panicked expression on Alex's face.

"Well it's sort of walking over to Drew with a little boy on its back," Alex said the panic rising in his internal voice, "and it's getting closer!"

"What!" I shrieked aloud whirling to face where Drew laid sound asleep. Sure enough, a giant cheetah stood directly over him. I tried to take step towards them but every time I did the cheetah would growl. But the thing that caught my eye was the boy, I think I may have seen him before but nevermind I need to get that-that thing away from Drew! "Alex!" I called with my back still facing him, "Can you distract the Cheetah so I can grab Drew and tell him to stop the time?"

"I can try!" he said moving around to the side and slowly stalking towards the large cat. "Hey kitty whats up," he called jumping up and down. That seemed to get the cheetahs attention! It immediately tried to lung at Alex, this was my chance!

I sprinted over to Drew and started to shake him violently. "Drew wake up!!" I screamed in his face. Slowly his eyes started to flutter open. "Quick stop time!" I shouted again.

"Wha-?" he started to question but then I moved away just enough so that he could see Alex about to get his throat slashed open, and he quickly raised his hand and stopped the time.

"Okay," I said pushing myself off the ground and walking to Alex who was still lying underneath the cheetah, " what do we do now?" I looked at Drew who was now wide awake and standing next to me.

"Well," he started swaying back and forth "Seeing that I'm still working on controlling my powers Alex is frozen with them until I unfreeze time. So I say we get the cheetah off of him first and then maybe tie the boy up and see if we can get the cheetah to switch back to whoever they are?"

"Sounds good to me," I agreed walking around trying to get a better look at the animal in front me, " except how are we going to lift the thing up? You and I definitely can't lift it on our own!" The animal was definitely much too big for us to carry it looked at least three times the size of me!

"Yeah," Drew said as he studied the large cat, "But can't you use your teleportation powers?" He then turned to look at me as if hoping I would say yes.

"I don't know!" I said sighing. Ugh, there are those words again! "I don't know if it has been long enough since the last time I did it. Teleporting takes up a ton of my energy, but I can try." I slowly walked over to the creature still worrying it would turn and slash my throat open.

"Where are you going to bring them to?" Drew asked looking around for a good spot.

" What about that tree?" I asked hesitantly putting one of my hands on the cheetah's back and the other on the boy's shoulder, "It's close so I might be able to make it. Plus there is a big rock next to it so then we will be able to get the boy off of the cheetahs back." I looked for Drew for feedback and he shook his head yes in response.

"Okay," he said taking a few steps back just in case, "let's get this show on the road!"

I nodded then close my eyes trying to visualize the tree with the large rock next to it. The way it curved a little bit to the left and how high up it stretched. The I visualized us right next to the large rock, close enough that we would be able to get the boy off of the cheetah's back. After I had done that I concentrated all of my energy on teleporting. I slowly felt the ground disappeared beneath me, it was working! The tingly sensation I usually got when being disintegrated into to tin air came. Then as soon as it happened it was over. I opened my eyes to see we were right next to the rock. "Yes!" I yelled as I pumped my fist into the air.

"Awesome!" Drew yelled rushing over to my side, " now to get the boy off of the cheetahs back and tied up."

I hopped up on the rock looking at the boy, I had to know him from somewhere! But anyway I could probably lift him on my own, he looked like he weighed no more than 70 pounds. So I reached under his armpits and heaved him off of the cheetahs back, balancing on the rock with him in my arms. "Watch out!" I called to Drew as I was about to jump of the rock. I leaped the short distance it was to the ground and set the boy down against the tree's trunk.

"I have some vine, I'll tie him up!" Drew said marching over with the vine. He bound the boy's wrists and ankles together with the vine so that he couldn't move.

"Hey," I called walking back over to where Alex was "Do you think you can just release Alex?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot about him!" Drew said jogging over to us. He raised his hand and Alex immediately sat up painting.

"Did I kill it?" he asked with his fists up, " I bet I did!" He then stood up and looked at Drew and with pride all over his face.

Drew and I glanced at each other and burst out laughing. "Not quite!" I said through giggle fits, "But Drew will release the time soon so we can find out if they are the others so we figured you'd wanna be awake for that. But if it makes you feel any better at all you were an amazing distraction for us!"

Alex grumbled some sort of response while Drew and I tried to control our random fits of laughter. After we were over that memorable moment we all walked over to the cheetah. We stood next to the young boy ready to make our deal with the cheetah/ person/ possible other. I was still unsure if this would work or even if they were the 'people' we needed to find but this was our only option and we need to try. God, I hope this works! I really really don't want to be in the middle of the jungle bracing for an incoming war forever. Especially if we don't have any other people to help us fight! Finally ready I turned to face Alex and Drew, "Are you guys ready? I asked the boys looking to both of them for responses.

"Yes," they said in unison as they returned my look of hope and uneasiness. We stood there like that for a while trying to work up our courage and faith.

"Okay then," I finally said taking a deep breath in bracing what was to come, "Drew, release the time." With those words Drew raise his hand and speed time up again. I really really hope all of what I've been through isn't just to dies here, at least not now.
