Chapter 68-Home.

"Are you all set?" Vashisht asked Ambar after he knocked her door.

She inhaled a deep breath before turning to him.

"Yes... I am." She flashed a smile.

"I'll miss you, Amy." He immediately trudged towards her and hugged her.

"Aww... I'll miss you too dumbo but you'll see me in India so you don't have to get all emotional." She pinched his nose.

"Yeah but after ten days... Convey my regards to Dida..." He whispered.

"Okay."

"Hey Amy!" Olivia sneaked inside.

"Hey!" Ambar smiled at her.

"I'm gonna miss you a lot." Olivia instantly threw herself, hugging her very tightly.

"Ouch! Livi... I'll miss you too." Ambar whispered.

"Oh sorry!" Olivia pulled out from the hug and apologised awkwardly.

"While I'm not here... You both will behave and would keep your voices low. I don't want the neighbours to throw complaints at me once I come back." Ambar strictly told them and earned their cheeky smiles in return.

She picked up her handbag.
"I'll see you both after ten days in India.... I'll come to pick you up at the airport." She said and they nodded.

Ambar's phone buzzed.

"I have to go now. Nakul is waiting downstairs." She mumbled after glancing at the message.

"Can't we come to the airport?" Vashisht asked.

"No... You both have to attend classes and since, you've already missed a lot, I don't want you to do that anymore." Ambar gave them a final hug.

"Happy journey." Olivia chirped.

"Thank you." She smiled.

"Wait.. At least I can help you with the luggage." Vashisht collected her bags.

"Okay." She let him walk ahead of her.

"Take care of him." She told Olivia.

"Yes Amy... and you should take care of yourself... I'll see you in India." She murmured in a tensed voice.

"Don't worry. Everything will be alright. Uncle and Auntie are quite cool headed. They already love you." Ambar spoke and she bobbed her.

"Thank you... Amy." She smiled before hugging her.

"Okay I've to go otherwise my boyfriend will go berserk." She uttered and Olivia laughed before bidding good bye to her.

------------------------------------------------

"Hey!" He quickly pecked her forehead and she easily relaxed in his arms.

"So are you excited?" He asked her.

"I am." She breathe out.

"What's wrong Ambar?" He enquired.

She raised her head.

"No I'm actually very contented that we're going back home but... I just don't like departures. Whenever I leave, I always feel that I'm leaving a small part of my soul." She spoke.

Nakul smiled.

"Do you know what I love the most in you?" He queried and she shook her head. "What?"

"Your pure heart... You're very soft hearted Ambar and that's the thing I love the most about you." He caressed her cheeks.

"Don't ever change yourself.... especially this heart. Keep it the way it is." He said and kissed her briefly.

"Sir we've arrived." The driver's voice interrupted them as he stopped the car.

"Let's go." He held her hand as she got out of the car.

------------------------------------------------

"When will they come?" Aakash asked his father.

Mayank pulled him in his arms.

"They just got in the flight... Aakash." Mayank replied with a smile before kissing his hair.

"Okay!" Aakash pursed his lips.

"Are we going to pick them up?" He queried further.

"Then who's going to go to school?" Mayank put forth.

"Dadda! I want to come. Can I miss my school tomorrow?" Aakash earnestly pleaded.

Mayank sighed.

"No Aakash... You've to attend school... It's bad for you to miss it for a lame excuse." He said and the boy huffed.

"Then even you shouldn't be taking leave.... it's wrong." He said making his father laugh out loud.

"Aakash... I'm your Dadda not the other way around." He quirked his brow and Aakash instantly stuck out his tongue.

"By the way, where is your Maa?" He asked him.

"She's sleeping." Aakash answered.

"Since when?"

"Since afternoon." He replied.

"Is she alright?" Mayank questioned.

"Uff... How many questions will you ask me? Why don't you ask her yourself?" Aakash groaned and Mayank smiled.

"Says who? The one who does this all the time, asking me all irrelevant questions" He pulled the boy closer and started tickling him.

"Dadda.. stop!" Aakash giggled as his father continued to tickle him.

------------------------------------------------

She eyed herself in the mirror. Her eyes were groggy from crying and her face looked pale.

A gentle knock on the door startled her.

She quickly splashed some water.

"Amrita, are you in there?" She heard his voice.

"Yes... A minute please." She replied before grabbing the hand towel and wiping her face.

She twisted the door knob and stepped outside to find him sitting on her bed.

"Hey, are you okay?" He queried.

"I am fine." She lied without peering at him.

"Amrita... I want to talk to you." Mayank let out.

She nodded, "Go on... I'm listening." She said.

He inhaled sharply.

"I wanted to tell you this since a very long time but I didn't had the courage to do so." He paused to stare at her beautiful face.

"Amrita... When I decided to marry you... I wasn't bluffing. I want to take care of you and this baby but there's one thing I want you to know... I can't replace you with my wife... I mean Shikha... I.." He fumbled and exhaled.

"I don't want you to". Amrita voiced out. "I don't want to be a replacement... She's Aakash's mother... your wife.... I can never be who she was." He relaxed till she started talking again.

"But..."

"But?" Confusion reflected in his eyes.

"I want to be someone new for you... I want to ask you today, Mayank. What am I to you?" She enquired.

"Amrita!"

"I want to know... Please tell me, what do you feel for me?" She implored.

Mayank was at loss of words. He didn't knew the answer himself.
Silence had entirely enveloped him.

Amrita instantly wiped a lone tear from her eyes which went unnoticed by him.

"It's okay... Mayank... It's okay if you don't want to answer." She mumbled moving away from him.

"Forget that I even asked you this question." She faked a smile.

"Where's Aakash?" She immediately changed the subject.

"Umm... he's in his room." Mayank replied and she bobbed his head.

"I'll just check what he's doing." She said and stormed outside, giving him some time to think more.

------------------------------------------------

"I'm exhausted." Ambar rubbed her neck.

"We'll land at anytime now." Nakul beamed.

"Thank god! I hate long hours travelling." She blabbered.

"So do I." He snaked his arms, pulling her closer.

After the flight safely landed, they unfastened their belts.

"Let's go." Nakul yawned.

"Yeah." She smiled and followed him.

After collecting their luggage, they strolled towards the exit where Mayank was already present in his own glory.

"Hey." He immediately enveloped his brother in a manly hug and patted his back.

Ambar smiled at them.

"Hey Ambar...." Mayank warmly greeted her.

"Hello Mayank Sir." Ambar replied back.

"Call me bhai..." He side-hugged her and she grinned at him.

"You got all your luggage?" He asked and she nodded.

"Okay then... we can go. Someone is waiting for you at home." He told Ambar and she smiled.

"Bhai... where's Aakash?" Nakul enquired.

"At school... He desperately wanted to come but he couldn't have missed a day." Mayank said and Nakul nodded before loading their luggage in the car.

The car roared to life as Mayank swiftly drove it.

"I missed you both... More than me and Amrita... my son missed you Ambar.... Amy likes this.... She did this... She did that... He always talked about you." Mayank chuckled while Nakul smirked.

"Yeah... And did he miss me?" Nakul asked his brother.

"He did but not more than Ambar." Mayank truthfully answered whilst Nakul huffed.

"That's not fair." Nakul pouted.

Ambar laughed.

"You don't have to be upset about everything Nakul." Mayank cheekily stated.

"Yes... Mr. Grumpy... Grow up. Just grow up." She mocked him and he narrowed his eyes.

Mayank too couldn't suppress his titter.

Soon the car passed through the huge gates.

A smile lit up on Ambar's face when she eyed her home.
Never once she had thought that she would address this place as her home.

Though she did have a house of her own but that house didn't had the people who made it call her home.

The car halted in front of the small steps to the main door of the mansion.

Nakul stepped out of the car and like a prince charming offered his hands to Ambar.

Ambar blushed and clutched his palms as she got out of the car.

The big door got opened and there she stood... Her dearest Dida.

"Ambar." Tears gushed down her cheeks as she immediately embraced her.

"It's so good to see you again... Welcome back." Amrita whispered.

"Yes... Dida." Ambar smiled.

"It's good to see you too, Nakul." Amrita eyed the big man before her.

"Thank you... Umm... I'll help bhai to get the luggage out." He said and sprinted towards Mayank.

"It's being difficult for him to digest the fact of you marrying Mayank Si... I mean bhai." Ambar explained on his part and Amrita nodded.

"Don't worry... he isn't objecting at all.." Ambar smiled as she added further.

"Yeah I know. He's just worried about his brother and it's completely natural." Amrita said.

"Come let's get inside... You must be very tired." Amrita guessed it from her facial expressions.

Ambar grinned, "Yes I am."

------------------------------------------------

"Oh Dida! I missed your cooked food... Nobody can cook better than you." Ambar sang praises whilst serving more dessert in her bowl.

"And what about my cooking?" Nakul raised his brows.

"It's nothing in comparison to what my Dida cooks." She teased him and Nakul rolled his eyes.

"How are your classes going on?" Mayank asked her.

"Pretty good..." She replied with a smile. "Actually I'm glad that I won't miss my neice or nephew's birth because after holidays, my schedule is going to be a lot more hectic." She breathe out.

"When is the due date?" Nakul enquired suddenly becoming more interested.

Before Amrita could answer, Mayank voiced out.

"Most probably in two week... The doctor's are quite confident that no C-Section would be required since there are no complications." Mayank told in a surprising way.

"That's good." Ambar glanced at her sister who had her eyes cast down.

Mayank cleared his throat.

"Nakul, are you free after lunch?" He asked him.

"Yes bhai."

"Good... I need some help from you." He said.

"Okay bhai..." Nakul nodded.

"When will I get to meet my Kiddo?" Ambar sighed looking at the clock.

"I was wondering to pick up Aakash from his school today." Amrita mumbled.

"No Amrita... you need rest. I'll send our driver for it". Mayank interrupted her with a finality in his tone.

"No worries. I'll pick Kiddo from school... anyways I'm very excited to meet him after so long." Ambar quickly chirped in.

"Fine.. but still take the driver with you." Nakul muttered and Ambar bobbed her head before he planted a peck on her lips.

------------------------------------------------

"Nakul which one is better?" Mayank asked his brother.

"Seriously bhai! You got me here even after knowing that I'm worst at selection." Nakul snorted.

"I just don't know how would you manage rest of the stuff if you're bad at this one." Mayank shook his head.

"If you're that good then why did you bring me for this job?" He groaned and folded his hands.

"This one." He said.

All of a sudden, Mayank's phone buzzed and he quickly fished out his phone from the pocket.

An unknown number flashed on his screen.

He swiped the call symbol and answered the call.

"Hello." He whispered unsure as he heard miffed voices in a hush tone.

"Hello." He uttered again.

"Mayank... Mayank.." An evil laughter was followed after his name.

"Who's this?" He asked the man from the other side of the call.

"Let's play a game. Mayank." The man suggested, irking Mayank's patience.

"Listen.... You are wasting my time." Mayank snapped and the person laughed again.

"So concerned about your time... but what about your son, aren't you concerned about him?" He questioned and Mayank's body stiffened.

"What happened, bhai?" Nakul asked after seeing his brother's tensed muscles.

"Why are you referring to my son.? Who are you...?" Mayank yelled.

The man chuckled.

"I won't waste any of your time because you're a busy man. I'll directly head to the main point. I have kidnapped your son and this crazy lady with him... If you want them alive and back then hand me the papers of Suri Mines and a sum of ten billions... It's payback time." The man gritted his teeth.

"I don't believe you... I want to speak to my son." Mayank shouted.

"Bhai... What's going on?"

"This is not a bollywood movie... Mayank.. grow up." He muttered. "And if you still don't want to believe then get prepared... Prepared to see your son's dead body... Choice is yours. You have only six hours and the time starts now... I'll call you again... One more thing." He paused and Mayank immediately balled his fist.

"You know the rules, don't you..?" He asked but Mayank stayed silent.

"Don't inform the police or the consequences will be worse... Good bye son." And the call was hung up.

"Hello... hello.." Mayank screamed over the phone.

"Bhai?"

Mayank's eyes had turned red with fury and worried line etched on his forehead. Nakul was bewildered to what got him all raged.

"Aakash and Ambar have been kidnapped."
