Chapter 6-Party.

"Dida, you look mind blowing in this dress." Ambar complimented her while she continued combing her hair.

She was wearing a long white dress with silver embroidery.

"Thank you Amy but I don't want to go. Can't I join you and Vashisht rather than attending this boring party." Amrita implored.

"Dida, we always loved your company but not today as you really need to go to this boring party. I don't want them to hate me more thinking that I snatched you away from them." She half-smiled.

Amrita placed the hairbrush on the table.
"Ambar, you know that's not true. No matter how they're, I still love them as well as you." Amrita said turning towards her.

"Yes, that's why I think you should go." Ambar patted her slightly and handed her the raindrop earings from the dressing table.

"Thank you." She replied taking them.

Amrita picked up the chain and tied it around her neck.

"Dida, it's okay if you don't wear it. That one won't go with your dress anyway.." Ambar said but Amrita cut her off.

"No it's really special to me and it doesn't matter if it won't go with the dress because it's you who had given me this." She beamed and wore it before hearing a knock on the door.

"Amu, come fast. Dad has been waiting near the car." Sandhya called from the other side of the door.

"Yes mom." Amrita replied as she quickly wore her heels and hugged Ambar before joining her parents.

Ambar kept on masking her emotions as the family left. She wanted to go but not against their wishes.

------------------------------

Nakul was standing in front of the mirror looking at himself. Today was an important day for him, his mother and the firm which was his father's foundation and his brother's years of hardwork.

As he was buttoning his blazer, he heard a knock at the door.

"Nakul, Are you ready son? guests have arrived." His mother's voice striked him and he turned to unlock the door.

"Yes, mom." He answered after opening the door.

"Oh, look at you. You're looking so handsome." She complimented him.

"Hmm. Thank you." He muttered turning away. Manyata knew that Nakul was nervous at that moment. To cheer him up, she started teasing him.

"I bet all the girls out there won't be able to take their eyes off you and maybe a lot of proposals might come up too." She joked.

"Mom, what are you talking about? You know I'm least interested in these kind of stuffs." He sounded displeased.

"Nakul! I was just kidding." Manyata shrugged her shoulder.

"Yeah, right." He scoffed being irritated.

"By the way. It would be good if you get married as it will benefit you only."

"How?" He raised his eyebrows.

"Aakash will get a chachi (Paternal Aunt) and your problem of leaving him alone would also get solved." She added.

"Mom, what are you talking?" He said dryly.

"Nakul. I was just kidding son. You're too bad in sensing humour and I'm not like those mothers who would get their children tied up to anyone against their wishes. I would want you to fall in love and then get married to someone like.... Shikha." She said and he smiled slightly.

"That's never going to happen mom." He murmured and turned his face towards the dressing table.

"Son, It will. I believe that day will come one day. Mark my words."

"Mom, we are getting late and our guest would be waiting for us." He said while she nodded as there was no room for discussion, further on this topic.

She knew that his childhood had a very bad impact on his ideology of falling in love.
He never had a girlfriend. Worse, he didn't have any friends. The only people that mattered to him was his family.

She knew everything about him even when she was not here with him.

She just hoped for any miracle that would sparkle his life and would break his wall of complex.

She looked up at his face while he adjusted his collar and offered his hand to her immediately.

She obliged and clutched his arms as they both strolled out.

"And the show begins."

-----------------------------------------------

The car lurched forward and stopped right in front of the mansion with glowing lights.

Amrita was surprised that her father worked for someone so rich. She had never attended any office functions as she was always busy at the hospital or she chose to stay at home with Ambar.

"Finally.. we're here." She turned her head towards her mother who was straightening her sparkling silk saree.

"Okay." She chimed and got down following her parents. Her dad presented the invitation card to the security and they were allowed through the doors.

The lights were illuminating as the big golden chandelier was hanging above, radiating the glow in the middle of the hall. Her father whispered something in her mother's ears before disappearing in the crowd.

Numerous people were busy in some sort of conversations which she hardly understood or was least interested about.
On the other hand, she found her mother giggling with some women who were way too dressed as if they were attending any sort of wedding.

She knew that her mother was always the only excited person who attended business parties with her father.

Her mother 'Sandhya' was continuously singing praises of her daughter while the other ladies were too admiring her talks or were they faking it?

At that moment, she regretted her decision of coming here rather than staying with Ambar.

Suddenly, the whole crowd went silent. She snapped her head in the direction where the people were gawking.
She saw a woman in her elegance descending down the stairs with her hand clutched to the arm of a very handsome man who was dressed entirely in black.

Wait a second, Isn't that the guy, she met or whom she attended at the hospital, a day before?

'Yes. It's him!'
She gasped when she recalled.

She didn't get any more time to think as the woman started speaking.

"I'm glad that you all are here on this short notice. This firm was a founded by my late husband and my son's hardwork with yours too took this business to various heights. From Suri Industries to SkyFlames, I would like to thank you all for supporting us throughout.
Some of you might know that we had a terrible loss in the family and my elder son is now currently incapable to take any charge of the business.
No matter how bad it is, we have to continue working hard. Today, we all are gathered here as I introduce you to my yongest son 'Mr. Nakul Suri' who is keen to follow the step of his father and brother. I hand over the responsibilities to him now in the absence of his brother. In the last few days, we have faced a drop in the business but now you all need to come up together and in the leadership of 'him' be more dedicated to the work so from tomorrow onwards I want you all to be more passionate, more steady and lively towards your job. My son, Nakul will brief you everything in the office tomorrow but for now, you all may enjoy the party." She finished lastly with a smile while the rest applauded.

Nakul nodded his head whenever his mother's eyes were on him.

Despite of the hard times they were going through, he knew how important this function was for their firms to stay in the limelight of the press and also to boost up the lost confidence of their employees in the absence of his brother.

As soon as his mother stopped talking, the media came forward to question him and his mother about their current moto and even few personal questions which he politely avoided to answer.

His eyes roamed at the people who were present in there. He was never into his family business which his brother was handling since his father's death and he never knew the people who worked for his brother except for few.

Mr. Mittal, company's most senior person was incharge of introducing the other employees to him.

While he was busy greeting the rest, he felt someone's piercing gaze on him.

And then he finally spotted her.
'How could she be here?' He thought.

Was he imagining things?

While his eyes were fixed on Amrita, she felt weird with the way he was looking at her.

'May be he's equally stunned to find me here as well.' She reasoned.

"Amrita dear, come." She heard her mother asking her to follow.

'Oh no! There is Dad already standing next to him and Mom is taking me there. I don't want to go.' She panicked thinking about meeting him as his father's boss with whom she was a lot more than rude yesterday.

'But this wasn't my fault and I did help him. Why should I panic?" She thought and stopped few inches away behind her parents.

"Hello. Mr. Suri." She heard her parents greeting him politely while he nodded.

"Mr. Suri. This is Mr. Vinay Sahay. He's the incharge of the sales department." Mr. Mittal introduced.

"Nice meeting you. Will be glad to work with you." Nakul said whilst handshaking.

Meanwhile, Amrita saw her mother poking her father secretly. She internally rolled her eyes.

"Mr. Suri. This is my wife Sandhya and my daughter Amrita." Vinay introduced his family while Nakul said his warm hello's to them while his eyes were on Amrita only as he spotted her wearing the same peacock colour 'A' letter pendant.

"Nakul... Can I talk to you for a minute?" His mother 'Manyata' interrupted him.

"Excuse me." He said and left with his mother.

"What happened, mom?" He asked her once he was somewhere in private.

"Nakul.. Yogita Masi. I can't stay any longer."
