Chapter 31-Rectification.
"Wait.... I'm what? Ambar couldn't believe whether she heard it right or not.
"Pregnant... I got to know just after you left." He replied.
"Who the hell told you this?" Ambar was angry now.
"I'm sorry but you left your phone here and I answered your call which was from the hospital.... I know, I shouldn't have received your call but I thought it might be something very urgent." He tried to defend himself.
"Cut the crap... First of all, I'm not pregnant. How can you even assume such thing?" She gritted her teeth.
"The receptionist told me that you've fixed your appointment to a gynaecologist and also that you didn't mention your surname so what am I supposed to understand? After all, you're acting all strange from yesterday. Even Aakash noticed." Nakul explained.
"Oh god! If I'm visiting a gynaecologist. It doesn't mean that I'm pregnant... I thought you knew the reason behind my visit." She was almost shouting.
"What do you mean?". He narrowed his eyes.
"She is Amrita's senior.... my sister's senior doctor and I just wanted to know about my Dida's whereabouts because I thought she might be able to help me." She told him.
As soon as he heard her mentioning Amrita, the colour got drained from his face .
"I was depressed and you thought I'm pregnant even when I told you that I never had a boyfriend.... Wait a second, did you categorised me in those type of women who just. Oh my god!" She faced palmed while he didn't open his mouth.
"I'm getting late." He walked out without even apologising while Ambar just stood fuming at him.
"Amy! Are you alright?" Aakash came up after hearing some commotion from the room.
"Yes kiddo! I'm fine." Ambar calmed herself as she didn't wanted to lash out on the small kid.
"Did you finish your milk?" She asked him.
"Yes I did " Aakash nodded.
"Good boy! Let's play with your clay." Ambar said, walking out and Aakash followed her.
------------------------------
He didn't believe in revenge but he was irked really bad by getting heartbroken by the only women he could've trusted outside family.
The only one who was there for him as his friend when no one was even bothered to look at him.
Earlier when her name popped out from Ambar's mouth, he couldn't control his emotions.
He was furious.
Didn't he ask her so many times whether she was willing to get married to him?
If she would've denied in the first place then maybe he wouldn't have felt the way he was feeling after she left him.
He was glad that at least Ambar was strong enough to refuse him without feeling any sort pressures on her.
This was what he had expected from Amrita if she wasn't at all ready for it.
But she eloped instead without even caring what she's leaving behind and here, her cousin was running to the hospital suddenly to find where was she?
'Did Ambar forgive her cousin for pushing her in a terrible situation of marrying me?' He thought.
But then he realised that he was no one to question her, that why did she forgive her?
It was her decision and he had no right to ask her.
He wasn't being able to put his thoughts to rest.
All this confusion had blew his mind completely. He laughed thinking about whatever had happened earlier?
Assuming that she was pregnant was really hilarious.
He should had thought that how can a single girl who was never into any relationship can suddenly get herself knocked up?
Then he realised what a grave mistake he had done and he didn't even apologise after that.
He suddenly stood up but seeing that he had already neglected his work a lot today, he decided to make up for his mistake later on.
------------------------------
"Hello." Ambar picked up the call. She could hear someone sniffing and she didn't take any more time to recognise who it was.
"Dida!" Her eyes too started watering.
"How are you Amy?" She heard her voice which she was so desperate to hear.
"I'm okay... Just okay" She managed to tell her.
"Good." She heard her son.
"Where are you?" She asked Amrita.
"I can't tell you, Ambar... Not now at least." She replied.
"Are you happy?" Ambar asked her.
"Yes! I'm trying to be but how can I when I'm not anywhere around you." Amrita sobbed.
"I want to see you." Ambar implored.
"I'm sorry Amy but I can't do that either. It's better if I stay away for some time." Amrita said.
"But why? Why are you doing this?" Ambar cried.
"I'll explain it to you later on. Please don't tell Mom and Dad that I called." She requested.
"I'm not able to understand why are you doing this?" Ambar said.
"Please Ambar, promise me that you won't tell anyone." She begged.
"Okay but only if you promise me that you'll call me often." Ambar demanded.
"Alright, sweetheart. I have to go now. Take care." She said.
"Bye... and you too. Stay safe." She hung up the call.
As expected, Her Caller Id was restricted.
She sighed after flopping over the bed.
"Who made you cry, Amy?" Aakash asked her.
"Nothing.... I'm just missing my Dida." Ambar wiped ber tear strained face.
"Oh! Who is Dida? Where did she go?" He asked her, cutely.
"She's my sister who was always like a mother to me." She replied hugging the boy.
"I miss Mumma too. You know, I'll turn five soon and she won't be there when I would be cutting the cake. She always was." Aakash's face had turned all gloomy.
"Hey!" She hugged him closer.
"You do remember what I had told you, don't you?" He nodded as she whispered in his ears with solace.
"That she's here observing me all the time and I just can't see her but can always feel her." Aakash answered remembering those words.
"Exactly." Ambar planted a kiss on the top of his head.
"Thank you Amy." He smiled.
"You're welcome." She too smiled, holding him closer.
Indeed her life would have been harder if this little kid wouldn't had stepped into it.
------------------------------
It was almost nine when Nakul returned from work. He had few bags and some flowers in his hands, when he entered.
Ambar was still upset from the way he had judged her. She had considered him as her friend and she had rights to be angry on him.
"Chachu, what are those?" Aakash pointed out the bags
"It's for someone to whom I truly want to apologise." He said looking in Ambar's direction.
Ambar was not going to forgive him this easily. She decided to avoid him.
"Aakash! Come I'll get your teeth brushed then I'll also read you a story." Ambar offered her hand and he readily accepted it.
"Wait... You both had dinner?" Nakul asked them and both halted.
"Yes, Chachu... Amy and I had dinner early today." Aakash replied while Nakul frowned a bit.
"It's sleeping time and Amy promised to read a story for me. Good night Chachu." He kissed his uncle before going back to his room.
It was almost half an hour later when Ambar walked out.
"Did Aakash sleep?" He asked her and she just gave a slight nod in reply.
"I'm hungry and Mrs. Melanie left and I don't even see any food here." He said and she still didn't reply him.
"Could you prepare something for me?" He asked her and she scowled.
"Sir. I'm Aakash's babysitter, not yours". She replied, stressing the word Sir.
"But I pay you to work for me and it's your duty to follow my orders." He smirked and she couldn't help but feel more angry towards him for being so cocky.
"Fine. Will a Sandwich be okay?" She asked him, faking a smile.
"Is that the best you can cook?" He teased her and she fisted her palm in fury.
"Okay... A sandwich will be great." He replied and sat on the chair at the dinning table.
She started buttering the bread whilst preparing his dinner when he opened his mouth again.
"I'm sorry for whatever happened today... I don't think anything low about you." He said and she still didn't pay heed to him.
"Ambar. Forgive me. See I brought you, your favourite flowers." He picked up those in his hands.
"And even your favourite cake." He evinced and opened the gift wrapped packet in front of her.
"How do you know, this all things are my favourites?" She asked him, surprised.
"Small shot told me that you're almost exactly like him... so, I guessed it because all these things are his favourites too." He grinned sheepishly.
"For once I'll agree with you that you are right." She picked up the flowers.
"I'm always right." He seemed too proud.
"I highly doubt that." Ambar coughed.
"Fine." He rolled his eyes and she giggled.
"So did you forgive me?" He asked her.
"I accepted these flowers. doesn't that ring a bell?" She said while inhaling the scent.
"Yeah." He scratched his head.
"Ambar, I'm sorry." He repeated the words again.
"Just forget about it." She placed the flowers on the table and started making sandwich for him.
"Here!" She served him and he took a bite of it.
"So, how is it?" She asked him whilst intently fixing her eyes on him.
"What? Do you expect me to compliment about a normal sandwich?" He raised his brows.
"Obviously.... I did prepare it even when this wasn't suppose to be a part of my job." She huffed.
"Okay! This is the most extraordinary sandwich, I ever had." He lampooned, jeering her and she picked up the flowers which he had bought and started hitting him with it.
"You... you... are such an arse, Nakul Suri." She continued sloshing him.
"Stop it... I'm your boss. You can't do that!" He tried to stop her from tormenting him.
"No!... For now... You're just my stupid idiot friend and not my grumpy boss." She chortled still hitting him and he just kept on defending himself while he too couldn't stop ridiculing her.
