"Chachu, why is Dadda still sleeping?" Aakash asked his Uncle Nakul innocently.
Though Mayank was discharged from the hospital but he was still in coma and trapped on his bed with all the weird machines and other instruments connected to his body.
"Dadda is very tired and he just wants to rest so we'll let him sleep till he himself doesn't wants to get up." Nakul replied, wiping his silent tears.
"Will he also leave me like mumma did?" Aakash queried. Nakul quickly wrapped his arms around the boy pulling him closer. His heart was aching due to the pain but he had to be strong.
"He won't." Nakul kissed his forehead.
"Nakul, can I talk to you for a minute?" Manyata interrupted them.
"Small shot. Don't touch anything and sit here until I come." Nakul instructed Aakash and he nodded positively in reply.
"Mom, what is it?" Asked Nakul as he approached his mother as she was waiting for him.
His mother took a deep breath before opening her mouth.
"Nakul... I know it's going to be very tough but this is necessary."
"Mom! what are you saying?"
"As you know till Mayank recovers, you've to take the charge of our business here and as a lot of stress will be already piled up on you, I've come up with a decision." She paused.
"What kind of decision?" He raised his eyebrows.
"I am taking Aakash with me to America." She declared while he gaped at her.
He didn't see this coming. One by one, all were departing from him.
"No. No. No. He-is-not-going-anywhere." He denied emphasising on each and every word.
"Nakul.. I have to. Try to understand, will you?
who will look after him all day?
Even I can't stay here as your Yogita Masi (Maternal aunt) needs me." Manyata replied holding him.
"I said, he won't leave." He was stubborn as hell but Manyata knew what she had to do.
"Okay if that's what you want then why don't you come up with a solution?" She folded her arms.
"But." He couldn't even complete as his phone buzzed.
"Go pick it up, I'll be waiting for your decision." She left giving him no room for argument.
He groaned and answered the call.
"What?"
"Mr. Suri, I'm calling from G.S. Lifecare Hospital. You forgot to sign on the form. Could you please come here and do the formality. It's important." The receptionist queried politely.
"Send it to my office..." His voice was cold as ice. He was in a no mood to talk.
"I'm sorry sir but you have to come here and sign. It's one of the hospital rules." She answered.
"Fine." He disconnected the call, angrily.
He groaned thinking about going to that place again which he never liked.
But having no other option, He left for the hospital to complete the so-called-formality.
------------------------------
"Amy! Please wake up. I'll get late."
"Dida (Sister), Five minutes more. Please." Ambar sleepily replied showing her five fingers.
"Ambar. No more five minutes... Get up now. Come on." Amrita pulled her cousin, indirectly pushing her out of the bed.
"Huhhh Dida! Okay fine."
"That's like my girl. Don't be late at the breakfast table." Amrita patted her cheeks softly and walked out while Ambar just bobbed her head.
"Good morning." Amrita greeted her parents while they just nodded at her before continuing their conversation.
"Hmm, it's really terrible." Her mother 'Sandhya' made a sad face.
"Without Mayank Suri, SkyFlame is going to suffer a huge loss. I just hope they don't layoff their employees." Vinay replied while shaking his head.
"That's why I told you to leave that company but you and your virtues of loyalty." She scolded her husband while Amrita paid no attention to them and served herself some cereals being least interested in their conversation.
"You don't have to worry, They will do something. Mr. Na.."
"Good morning." Greeted Ambar interrupting her Uncle.
"Oh my! Your highness is finally out of her bed, what would you like to eat ma'am?" Sandhya mocked her while Ambar's smile faded but she silently sat next to Amrita, ignoring her Aunt's sarcastic comment.
Amrita on the other hand served her some pancakes being still pissed at her parents. "Okay, I am getting late." Vinay stood up to leave.
"Wait, I have to go to Mrs. Desai. Drop me on your way and Ambar ma'am, please clear this up before I come back." Sandhya said pointing towards the table and left with her husband.
As soon as they were gone, Amrita started cleaning the table.
"Dida, you're getting late. Leave it. I'll clean this up." Ambar tried to stop her while Amrita smiled but didn't stop herself from picking up the untidy plates.
"Dida, you're not going to listen to me ever, don't you?" Ambar crossed her arms.
"It's almost done." Amrita shrugged after dumping the dirty crockery in the dishwasher while Ambar rolled her eyes knowing that her cousin won't stop.
"Hello to my favourite girls, Good morning." Vashisht entered as he made his way towards his friends.
"Good morning." Both replied in unison.
"Amy, why aren't you ready yet? We are getting late."
"Late for what?" Amrita asked turning towards him.
"Where are we going?" Ambar got up from her place.
"Actually Dida, I am taking this cool chick out for a date...."
"Me.... and a cool chick?" Ambar stuttered interrupting him, unbelieving those words that just popped out.
"Not you silly .... It's Leena Pinto, I am talking about. She's so hot.." Vashisht babbled while Ambar's small smile pressed into a thin line.
"Then why don't you grill a fish on her face?" Ambar made a poker face.
"Haha. Very funny." He rolled his eyes.
"Weren't you dating that girl? What's her name?" Amrita tried to recall.
"Saloni." Ambar answered instead in a bored tone.
"Yeah, I was but I'm done with her at the last date.
She's quite talkative and I don't like her anymore." Vashisht said casually while Amrita shook her head.
"If you're going on a date with her already then why do you want me to come with you now?" Ambar questioned him.
"Dumbo, will I go on a date empty handed? I am Vashisht Rajput and I've a reputation so you're coming with me to buy a gift for her." He declared.
"I am not." She divulged, backing off.
"Hey, common! You've to help me. You're the only girlfriend, I have."
"Excuse me." Ambar quirked her eyebrows at the quick realisation of those last words.
"I didn't mean in that kind of a way... I mean you're my... only girl buddy." He scratched his head.
"But I don't want to.."
"Please.. Anyway you don't have anything to do rather then to laze around." Vashisht mocked while Ambar launched a sofa cushion at him.
"I would've thought to help you but now I won't." Ambar scowled at him and turned towards her room.
"Okay .. Okay.. I am sorry Amy. Please help me out. I just don't get it what girls like so. PLEASE." He pleaded but she didn't stop shaking her head.
"Dida. Please convince her for me." He implored turning to Amrita while Amrita picked up her bag.
"Sorry Vashisht. Deal it yourself, I am getting late." She smiled and left them alone.
-----------------------------------------------
"Is that all?" Nakul stood by the hospital reception.
He was already agonized for the lame signature, he was called for.
After all, he had more important work rather than this.
"Yes. Thank you, sir." The receptionist replied politely flipping the documents.
He huffed.
Without saying any word, he started leaving.
His head was hurting really bad as he didn't get any food and sleep in his system. All the stress that had crept up in his life was taking a troll on him.
Suddenly his head started spinning and his vision became blurred.
Before he could comprehend anything, he felt a soft arm stopping him to hit the ground.
"Are you alright?" He heard some voice. A soft voice.
"I'm fine." He managed to respond.
"The way, you were about to fall does explain the contrary." She folded her arms.
"Plus your body is radiating a lot of heat. You have fever." She added.
"I said, I-am-Fine." He replied gritting his teeth.
"No, you're not. definitely!"
"Who are you to tell me?" He sounded more rude being more irritated by her.
"A doctor and nobody else can tell about your condition better than a doctor so if you're done with your debating then I advice you to follow me rather than wasting your energy and even mine." She sounded irritated while he accepted his defeat and followed her.
She entered her cabin with him and placed her bag on the rack.
She quickly poured some water in the glass and handed him while he sat down on the chair in front of him.
"Thanks." He took it from her hand and gulped it.
Meanwhile she wore her doctor's robe and the stethoscopes around her neck.
His eyes landed on the name plate which was on her desk.
Dr. Amrita Sahay.
It was very familiar. He had heard that last name somewhere before but where?
"When was the last time you had eaten anything?" She asked him breaking his chain of thoughts.
"I don't... remember." He mumbled as he stressed his brain to recollect.
She huffed and moved towards him as she started examining him.
While she continued doing her job, his eyes caught some shiny object..
'No... It can't be!'
