Chapter 24-Move In.

"Didn't I tell you not to loiter on the second floor?" His voice was deep and rough.

Ambar stood with her back facing him. She knew that she might end up losing her job today.

Horrified and appalled, she turned around to face him.

Suddenly she saw his mouth twist into a smile.

Was she dreaming or was he actually waiting for a chance to fire her which was he so delighted about?

Nakul couldn't control himself and burst out guffawing at her.

Earlier, he was so angry with her especially when she didn't answer his calls and also after she was found on the second floor despite of the warning.

But as soon as he saw her face, he couldn't show any of his wrath but instead broke into a fits of laughter
Who won't?
When she had a white moustache formed above her upper lip which made her look absolutely funny.

Ambar couldn't decipher what was happening?

Controlling himself, he moved closer to her. She stumbled a bit turning back but he held her before she could hit the ground.

For the first time, she saw his features very promptly. His amber eyes, a pointed nose and a slight change of skin tone somewhere near his left cheek. She felt something familiar like she had seen it somewhere but her mind couldn't focus on anything especially when her face was really close to him.

He gently brushed his thumb wiping the milk above her upper lip.

Shiver ran down her spine as soon as he touched her. He smiled slightly at her reaction.

"Chachu!" Aakash ran up to him disrupting the moment. Ambar moved quickly away.

Nakul scooted him up in his arms.
"Why are you here?" Aakash asked him.

"I was missing you, small shot." Nakul kissed his forehead.

"And when I called, no one picked up the call." He eyed Ambar who looked uncomfortable and dismayed.

"So how was your day?" Nakul asked him dismissing the topic.
"I had a lot of fun.... fun and...." Aakash elaborated everything in detail. Nakul attentively kept on listening.

Ambar couldn't help but smile. Whenever Nakul glanced at her, she averted her gaze.

"Small shot, did you have your milk?" Nakul asked him. Aakash took his tongue out while Nakul sighed.

"Explains everything now." He muttered knowing Aakash had fooled the poor girl very easily.

"Okay small shot, you go and wait for us. I have something to discuss with your friend." Nakul said and Aakash ran down the stairs following his request.

"Careful." Nakul warned.

He turned to Ambar who was quietly standing opposite him.
Nakul sighed knowing that he had to show some patience which he always lacked.
"There's a reason because of which you can't be here." He told her.

"My brother's room is on this floor and I don't want to create any sort of disturbance for him. He's in a persistent vegetative state. There's a nurse who is around to check on him all the time and even his doctor keeps on visiting him for frequent checkups but that shouldn't concern you at all. You just have to keep Aakash away from his room. I don't want his mind to be surrounded by a lot of questions regarding his dad." He elucidated and she nodded, finally understanding him.

"Good, I would be leaving for work after seeing Aakash and one more thing, keep your phone always with you and make sure, you don't leave a miss call on your phone because after that there won't be any injunctions." He warned before leaving her.

She heaved a sigh of ease.
She was sure that sooner this person was going to give her a heart attack.

She sauntered towards the little boy who was merrily chatting with his uncle in the dining area.

"Small shot! Promise me that you would finish the whole glass of milk." Nakul held out his hand and Aakash gave in.

"Okay but on one condition. Please make Amy move in with us, Please." Aakash pleaded.

"Okay but ask her if she wants to stay here or not." Nakul eyed Ambar who looked stunned at Aakash's request.

"I... I... Aa..kash...." Ambar stuttered.

She wanted to refuse at that very moment.
How will she reside here and be around Mr. Grumpy, all the time?
After all, he makes her feel so apprehensive.

Her eyes shifted to Aakash's innocent face who was dreamily looking at her.

"Okay." She smiled at him while Aakash started jumping enthusiastically on the couch.

"Amy! Jump here." Aakash asked her to join him.

Ambar felt embarrassed when she saw Nakul's amused expression.

"Small shot! I'm leaving... Hunky Dory...."

"Ambar." She corrected him.

"Yes Ambar. Get another glass of warm milk for him and make sure, he eats his lunch on time. I'll be back by eight o'clock then we can go and collect your stuff." He voiced out and left.

She closed her eyes in dubiety once he was gone.

"Amy, you will stay with me, won't you?" Aakash looked extremely happy.

Ambar didn't answer with words but just bobbed her head with a smile.

In just few hours, she had developed a soft corner for the boy.

She felt so connected to him.

"But only if you finish your milk now." Ambar poked his nose.

"But Amy, I don't like the way it tastes." He complained again.

"Alright but will you drink this if I add some chocolate syrup in it?" She asked him.

"Okay, I will." Aakash approved happily following her to the kitchen.
The rest of the day was well spent by both of them. Ambar had never thought that her day would've been better or this was the least, she had expected regarding her first job. She cooked food which was liked by Aakash despite of the fact that it was slightly overcooked.

She helped him fix a jigsaw puzzle, finished his painting, helped him complete his vacation homework and lastly they settled to watch Winnie, The Pooh movie in Aakash's bedroom.

All this while Ambar made sure, not to be anywhere near the second floor though she met the old nurse whom she ran into during the lunch time.

It was exactly at eight o'clock when Nakul had arrived.
He was exhausted as hell from all the hard word, he was putting forward.

"Hey!" Ambar handed him a glass of water, seeing how much tired he was

"Where's Aakash?" He asked her.

"He's playing with clay in his room. I came out to fill this jug." Ambar answered and he nodded.

"Okay! I'll just freshen up and then we can leave to pick your stuff." He said and started to troop to his room but stopped when he acknowledged her look.

"What happened? Are you okay?" He asked her, finding how nervous she looked.

"Yes, I am." Ambar replied lying.

"Then?"

"You can stay here with Aakash, anyway you look exhausted. I'll go alone and be back in some time." She told him as she didn't wanted him to know that she's not staying at her uncle's house anymore.

"You can't go alone at this hour. Wait, I'll tell the driver to take you." He said in a tone, avoiding any further arguments.

Ambar didn't see anything wrong in it so she agreed.

"Ms. Hunky Dory." He sounded a little coltish.

"Yes." Her voice was edgy.

"Do you really want to stay here?" He scratched his head.

"Yes.... For Aakash." She replied before bolting away, leaving a pleasant smile on his face
