Chapter 12-Inclined.

The room was dark when she stepped in. Her stomach had curled up into various knots that she felt like she'll throw up despite of an empty stomach.

The small bag that was in her right hand fell on the floor instantly. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she couldn't hold up any longer.

How could they do this?
Why were her parents doing it?
Her mind was filled with such kind of questions.

Expunging the wet droplets which were covering her face, she reached for her mobile phone.

Now this was the only option she had beside the other unpleasant one.
She dialed the number rapidly and held the phone to her ear.

The phone went on ringing at the other side but again no answer.

She kept calling again and again but in vain.

That's it. She couldn't take anymore and threw the phone on the floor near the bag of money.

She climbed on the bed as she sobbed hard, hugging the pillow until letting the sleep to consume her.

------------------------------

"Hello Chachu."

"Hey small shot, how are you?" The smile grew bigger on Nakul's face after hearing his boy's voice.

"I'm fine Chachu... I'm having a very gooooood time. Great granna is very sweet and funny and..." Aakash kept on ranting.

"Aren't you troubling her?" Nakul asked her. He could imagine Aakash sticking his tongue out.

"No. I didn't, Chachu." He denied but Nakul knew better that he was surely lying.

"So when are you planning to come?" He quickly asked.

"Chachu. Wednesday." Aakash replied.

"But aren't you supposed to come on Monday?"

"Chachu. I want to stay more." He pleaded.

"But small shot. I'm missing you." Nakul said immediately.

"I'm missing you too but I want to stay more, can I please? Chachu.  Please. Please. Please." He implored cutely.

"Okay fine but on wednesday, I want you here as even Granna is leaving this Friday." Nakul replied..

"So soon?" He heard his sad voice.

"Small shot. She have to." Nakul tried to explain.

"Everybody's leaving..." The happiness on Nakul's face vanished.

"Small shot. Your Chachu and Dadda is there with you, aren't we?" Aakash hummed in response.

"Okay. Chachu, I have to go. Shilpa auntie is calling me. I'm going to have chocolate cake today." Nakul sensed his grin from the other side.

"See, you're going to have it without me. Too bad, small shot." Nakul teased him.

"Sorry but I have to go. Bye Chachu." Aakash hung up as Nakul chuckled lastly.

"Okay bye." His smile faded as soon as the call went dead. Indeed he was missing him a lot.
He glanced at his watch and strolled towards his mother's room.

"Mom." He knocked the door.

"Yes, Nakul." Manyata opened the door and let him into her room.

"I just talked to Aakash." He said.

"I know."

"Mom. I'm missing him." She stroked his face while he flinched a bit.

"I know. So do I." She replied smiling.

"I can't let him go anywhere after he comes back. It's hard. Really hard." His voice trailed.

"Nakul. He'll be back by this wednesday." She tried comforting him.

"You knew, already?" His eyes widened while she nodded.

"Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me?" He spoke like he was throwing some sort of accusation on her.

"If I had told you then you would had gone to get him at that moment itself." She reasoned.

"But I didn't go!" He frowned.

"That's because Aakash convinced you and he's the only one who can make you dance around his fingers." She winked at him and he laughed.

"Now tell me what happened at her house?" She demanded while he scratched his head.

"I talked to them. Told them about the proposal." He replied.

"And?".

"And I have her parents permission." He answered.

"What about her? Did you talk to her?" She quickly asked him.

"No." He shook his head.

"Because I couldn't meet her. May be she was at the hospital." He continued.

"Nakul! You had to ask her first." His mother sounded exasperated.

"Mom, don't worry. I'll talk to her and I won't even marry her if she doesn't agree." He held her shoulder.

"Good. But do this as fast as you can." She relaxed a bit.

"I will."
------------------------------

Ambar stepped quietly without letting anybody know.

She didn't wanted to face her Aunt's lashing at this hour. Snooping inside, she ran up to her bedroom.

As soon as she stepped in, the darkness scared the shit out of her. Amrita always kept a little lamp on. As she trudged forward, she spotted a broken glass piece of the mobile screen on the floor.

Indeed her sister had a fowl mood today. Picking it up very carefully, she placed it nicely on the side table.

She lit the little lamp on and made her way towards the washroom.

After she came back, her eyes landed on Amrita's face which clearly showed that she had cried a lot before falling asleep.

Was this because of her?
Or was it because of her Aunt and Uncle.
Ambar didn't know.

Leaning towards her, she wiped her stained cheeks gently.

Her mind recalled that her Dida wanted to talk to her but due to some or the other reason, she wasn't able to hear what she had to say. May be there's something very important.

Ambar was very determined to ask her but only after she would wake up as she didn't desire to disturb her sleep.

Without going for second thoughts, she lied next to her until she too fall into a deep slumber.

------------------------------

Amrita's eyes opened as soon as she heard the alarm ringing. She hurriedly turned off the alarm as she didn't want to disturb Ambar.

Ambar, her sister.

She had always desired for at least one when she was herself very small. Being the only child, Amrita always wanted someone to play with, someone with whom she may share her things, someone who will support her against others. Someone whom she would love to look after.

She was elated on the day when Ambar had just walked into her house.

And never ever she had considered her as an orphan who was just a responsibility of her parents. Instead she herself had been a mother to her.

All that had happened the previous night was truly a thunderstorm for her. She just hoped it to be a nightmare but it wasn't as her eyes spotted the bag which her parents had given her.

Was she really ready to this? For Ambar, was she willing to say yes?

Picking up the phone reciever from the side table, she dialed the number for one last time.

She silently prayed for the call to get answered but this time the call got rejected on the very first bell.

Betrayed... Cheated... Helpless... was all she felt.

Now she knew what she had to do.

Getting out, she clumped towards her parents room.

After a lot of reluctance, she finally tapped the door thrice before her mother opened it.

She glanced at her father who had probably woken up because of her.

Finding her voice, she finally let out the words.

"Yes.. I'm inclined to do whatever you say."
