Chapter 10-Misunderstanding.
They kept gaping at each other as they couldn't comprehend why they were actually fighting for?
"You're right, I was here for a reason." Vashisht was the first one to talk.
"What?" Ambar asked slowly.
"I broke up with Leena. I was here because I needed you and Dida." He mumbled.
"Okay." She felt bad for him.
"Did you.... did you?" She fumbled while he continued giving her those questioning looks.
"Speak up, Amy." He demanded.
"Did you love her?" She finally asked him.
"No, why do you ask?" He clamoured.
"Then what are you resentful about?"
Her question had a valid point but he didn't have an answer to it. He knew that he couldn't fall in love with a girl so soon but then why was he so despondent?
May be because he wanted more in this relationship. More to end up in something may be 'love'.
"It's complicated." He replied tilting his head to one side.
"Why were you angry earlier?" He questioned.
"Uhmm.... Actually I don't know." She lied.
"What do you mean?"
"It's just that I don't like your choice of girls. They are too provocative show pieces and..... arrogant bitches." She shrugged and he smirked.
"I thought you wanted to be friends with them?"
"Not after you spoiled my image". She snapped.
"I'm sorry." He instantly apologised.
"You should be." She folded her arms, smiling.
"By the way. I'm here for one more reason." He said.
"Now what?" She cocked her eyebrows.
"Books. Library." He startled her as she understood what he was referring to.
"Oh shit! What's the day today?" She moved towards the calendar on the wall.
"Oh God. Today is the last day and I don't even know, where I have kept them. There are a lot of books, I've to return or there will be a hefty fine that I've to pay." She yawped.
"Hey, calm down. I'm going home to freshen up and collect my books too till then you search yours. When I'll be back, we will leave for the library together." He explained and she nodded giving him a thumbs up.
He left her by herself as she started her search in hurry.
------------------------------
"Mr. Mittal, I would like to speak to Mr. Sahay urgently." He said to the man who stood before him.
"Sir, my apologies but Mr. Sahay is on a leave today. He's not feeling well." He said.
"Okay! Just give me the data tomorrow and handle everything here till I come back. I have a meeting to attend. Thank you and you may get back to work now." Nakul dismissed him.
After he left, Nakul quickly removed the file from his cabinet drawer.
He opened it and flipped the pages swiftly.
He stopped after he found the specific detail that he wanted.
He grabbed his car keys with the file and walked out leaving everything under Mr. Mittal as in charge.
Once inside the car, He adjusted himself on the driver's seat and after setting up the GPS, he ignited the engine, driving towards his destination.
------------------------------
After one hour of searching, she heaved a sigh of relief as she finally found all of her books.
As she arranged them into a pile, her phone buzzed and without wasting anytime, she picked it up.
"Hello."
"Amy, Are you done?
because I'm leaving and would be there in 5 minutes." She heard him speak.
"Vashisht but I've a lot of books to carry. You have to help me in picking them up." She beseeched.
"Ambar! Fine but I won't come inside. Hand me half of them at the doorstep till then you carry the rest." He elucidated.
"Okay." She chimed and hung up.
Bracing herself, She picked up the pile of seven huge books and sauntered towards the door. The books she was schlepping were so many in number that it had covered her face completely.
She knew that the door was already opened so she kept walking until she was about to collide with him.
She was about to drop the books and trip herself but was saved on time by him.
"Thanks. Hold this." She said it without even looking to whom she was handing those to.
He was forced to carry the pile as she left all of them in his arms
The books which he took in his hold, hid his face as well.
"Take these while I'll come up with the rest." She instructed him.
Before he could utter any word, she scurried back to her room to bring the remaining books with her.
Nakul couldn't fathom why he was coerced to carry these many books?
Having no other option, he stood at the doorstep with the books, waiting for her to return.
As she came back with another small pile of books, she saw him still at the door.
"Hey dumbo, why are you still standing here like a statue? Take them to the car." She scolded him.
While he was about to reply she interrupted him again.
"Nevertheless. Let's go." She asked him to follow her but stopped suddenly when she saw Vashisht entering.
Her eyes widened as she guiltily looked over at the man whose face had been buried behind her books whom she had supposedly assumed to be Vashisht.
She signaled Vashisht to fetch all her books from the man who was standing behind her.
Vashisht promptly stepped ahead and grabbed all her books from him, freeing his hand.
Nakul sighed while Ambar quickly apologised.
"I'm so sorry."
Nakul was highly pissed by her. Ambar gasped after acknowledging his look.
He had never expected this kind of thing to happen with him.
Did he look like a porter to her? Surely not, in a three piece suit.
He scoffed after she apologised.
As he was about to reply in his rudest tone. He heard a voice behind him.
"Ambar?" Sandhya approached them as she faced his back.
Till that time, Ambar and Vashisht absurdly ran out of the house saving themselves from her wrath.
Nakul turned to face her.
"Mr. S.. Suri." She stammered.
"Mrs. Sahay. Sorry to disturb you today." He nodded formally greeting her.
"Not at all sir. Please come in." She welcomed him inside.
"Could you please call Mr. Vinay?" He asked and she bobbed her head.
"Yes sir.... Please sit." She gestured him to sit while he sat comfortably on the couch.
"Mr. Suri?" He turned to Vinay who came out of his room with a puzzled look on his face.
"Mr. Vinay. How are you?
I heard from Mr. Mittal that you were not feeling well today." Nakul voiced out.
"Yes sir, I had headache this morning but I'm fine after taking the medicines." Vinay replied shortly.
"Sir what would you like to have? Tea, Coffee?" Sandhya offered being really polite.
"No. Don't bother about it. I'm here to talk something very important and serious and for that I need you both." He exclaimed.
Sandhya quizzically glanced her husband.
"What are you talking about, sir?" Vinay queried.
He inhaled sharply.
"I'm here with a proposal..
I want to marry your daughter, Amrita."
