Pride of Berk
a/n: Sorry it took me so long to update. I was planning to draw my OCS for this chapter, but I haven't had time.
The blonde dragon rider leaned forwards, pressing her body against her trusted pet and friend as they zipped through the sky.
The dragon let out a warble and the rider smiled as they approached the 'target'. "Haha I've got you now!"
"Oh no, you caught me!" The other dragon rider exclaimed as he was tackled by his fiancée. They both rolled for a bit, laughing. The two pulled to a stop with the rider decked in icy white and blue on top.
She removed her mask as she glanced down at him fondly. "I won the race. I see you've been attempting to 'free form' again. Any success?"
She moved backwards and Hiccup sat upwards slightly so that his elbows were propping him up. "Ah you know, it could use some adjustments here and there."
"So that's a no then. Now, want to tell me why you're avoiding your Dad?"
In the background, the two dragons were playing much like oversized kittens.
Hiccup scoffed lightly. "Oh you'll get a kick out of this. I wake up to the sun shining, Terrible Terrors singing from the rooftops. So I saunter down to breakfast, thinking everything will be alright..."
Thalia nodded thoughtfully to herself as she cut him off. "Very foolish of you, but go on."
"I know right, how dare I? Anyways, so the first thing I get is 'Son, we need to talk."
"Oh, this'll be good."
Still using his Stoik impersonation, Hiccup continues. "You're the pride of Berk son, and I couldn't be prouder."
Thalia smiled before responding. "Ah, thanks Dad. I'm pretty impressed with myself too."
The future chief laughed slightly. "When do I ever do that hand thing?"
The blonde tossed him a teasing smile. "Your lack of self-awareness is astounding. Go on, continue your story."
"You're all grown up, and since no chief could ask for a better successor, I've decided—"
"To make you chief?" Thalia sighed and wrapped her arms around him. "Oh, Hiccup."
She knew he didn't want the responsibility and the weight of Berk on his shoulders. What he didn't seem to realize is that everyone's been looking to him since he showed them that they didn't have to kill the dragons.
She pulled back to look him in the eyes. "You're already leading most of us. You'll do a great job."
His green eyes searched her face for any signs of doubt only to find warmth and confidence. Hiccup sighed and leaned into her touch. "What would I do without you?"
She smiled mischievously. "Oh, simple. You'd be dead."
He tossed her a fake hurt look. "Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, Thals."
She winked. "You're welcome." Her smile dropped slightly as her gaze drifted to the smoke. "Babe, I hate to ruin the moment, but we should probably check out what's burning."
He turned instinctively and followed her gaze. They exchange a look before mounting their dragons.
