Chapter X: Richard Wolfe's Historics

A new morning. All the remaining teammates have gathered at the round table after having just woke up.
"Have any of you checked the library yet?" Selene asked while eating an apple with a small smile and she seemed slightly more energetic than usual.
"Selene... You seem... Exhilarated... Is anything very exciting going on?" Geoffrey asked and seemed slightly weirded out.
"Well, ever since the weird museum-library yesterday, Selene's been at her best. Smiling more often than not. I have to say though, she's pretty when her cheeks are a little pinker." Celeste smirked at her suster and Selene gave her a frown.
Mars and Haley's deaths still lingered in the back of their minds. But better to be positive rather than wait for the day someone else would fall to their feet.
"We haven't checked the library or anything Selene. Breakfast doesn't even start until all of us get down here." Jin said
"Shame..." Selene said and hummed.
"Geez... Do we have to call all the others?" Marco asked with a frown.
"Guess we have to. Chelsea, Ryan, James aaaaannndddd... Just them right?" Carl said in a playful tone.
"I'll wake up Chelsea." Celeste offered and then laughed to herself as she went up the stairs.
"Ryan and James are on me then." Marco sighed and then jogged towards the staircase.
Tyler sighed at how moody Marco always was. Sometimes, Tyler felt like the only sane one among them. Well, he probably wasn't the only one.
And then, the others finally descended down from the staircases.
"And first off, we have our drama queen!" Carl said in an announcers voice. "Ryan! Watch him as he gracefully pirouettes off the staircase; dances as the spotlight hits his shiny mass of hair; as he flaunts aimlessly and smiles!"
"Ah! Perfect! Thank you for beautifully announcing that I am perfection!" Ryan said vainly as he struck a pose.
"Gay." Jin said with a smirk. Geoffrey only shook his head but also smiled.
Tyler couldn't help but smile. It wasn't really something to go in hysterics about but the humor was there.
"Next! We have James! In a sharp suit and a crisp look right off of the-" Carl then paused and sighed. "I got nothing."
"Well I'll be..." James sighed as he shook his head.
"And I don't get a grand introduction?" Chelsea asked as she trailed down the staircase with a huff.
"Insulting girls isn't manly." Carl huffed and crossed his arms and then stopped and burst out laughing.
"Have the relics and books filled you Narren with energy? I hope it has." Some annoying voice then said.
"Yes Dad~" Carl said in a pitchy and close to feminine voice that made everyone in the room laugh. Even those who barely laughed at jokes.
"Do stop..." Richard grumbled. "Eat and finish your day."
"Yes-" Carl started.
"NEIN." Richard said sternly and Carl immediately shut up while the others held back their laughter.
They then began the regular morning routine. Stuffing themselves silly as they told each other of anything random. Even bragging about their 'Social Status' or of their highest score at 'Reaper's Stand'.
"Selene~~~ I know you want to go to the library place~" Celeste sang.
"Perhaps." Selene replied with a smile.
"Let's go then. Maybe we could learn about this weird mansion and get out." Geoffrey then said.
"Are you sure that isn't an excuse for you to do some other research instead of the mansion?" James asked. His somehow posh tone didn't help much and Geoffrey's pale skin had a light pink to it which made it obvious.
"Of course not." Geoffrey grumbled.
"No use standing around then. Let's get cracking." Jin said and stood up with a smile.
They then walked towards the mirror and one by one entered.
And for some reason...
It had someone! Someone other than those stuck in the mansion! Were they free?!
Tyler then looked at the only person who stood behind him which was Selene and... Their clothes! They changed again! They were all in more professional outfits. With Selene in a hair bun and heels and things, and Tyler in a sharp suit and shiny shoes.
"This is another Scene Room..." Tyler observed with a look of both dismay and disbelief.
"Are you the new staff of the Historics Library?" A huge woman with bulky muscles a tan uniform, tough DocMartens, a cap that supposedly was to cover her shockingly Neon pink hair, a clipboard and a stern face asked the souls.
"Staff?" Tyler asked.
"Yes. You're inside the Historics Library before opening times. I thought you were newbies who applied for jobs here..." The stern woman said. "Unless you all snuck in here to steal?!"
"No, Of course not-" Selene started.
"Ahhhh, they're here!" A stout man with grey hair and a suit said as he slowly walked to them. His large body didn't help much.
'This guy should really lose off the weight and chocolates...' Tyler thought.
"Theses are the detectives that I've hired, Bertha." The stout man said to the stern woman who crossed her muscled arms.
"Really? I told you, they won't do much." Bertha grumped.
"Now, now, you two, come with me to my office." The stout man said to both Selene and Tyler who were disoriented by everything but followed the stout man obediently through doors that weren't there during their first time.
"Might you be Richard?" Selene asked the stout man as they walked down several corridors with amazing lighting, books and relics and decor.
The stout man laughed and smiled at the group of young souls. "Richard I am! Richard Wolfe. Feel free to call me Rick or Wolfe. I know I told you all my name when I sent the police my case and they told me they'd send experienced individuals."
"Case? What about?" Tyler asked as his suspicions arose.
"Someone sent me a strange letter. A letter of theft and an attempt to kill me to send my wife a ransom note..." Rick then said.
This Rick or Richard's voice was... Different. He didn't sound like a German at all.
"I see... May we see the letter then?" Tyler then asked and nodded at Selene.
"Yes, of course! Come, come, my office is here." Rick then said as he opened a door for the two 'detectives'.
And... Celeste! Celeste was there!
Celeste was covering her mouth and shaking her head as she read a letter and then jolted when she realized the door opened.
"Celia!" Rick then said and gently took the note from her and left it flat on his desk and gently held the palms of Celeste.
"Celia?" Selene asked confusedly.
"Selene?" Celeste asked as she stared at the doorway.
"Selene? I thought your name was Detective Saffron." Rick said in confusion.
"It is." Selene then said but sounded confused herself.
"And your name is... What was it... Detective Trevor." Richard then said.
'We must have different names here...' Tyler thought.
"Do you have any suspects here?" Selene asked.
"Maybe the staff? We aren't a very big place so we have at least ten to fifteen staff members." Rick said.
'Aren't very big?' Tyler asked himself.
"Bring them here if you please. Even Bertha." Selene said as she gave Tyler a glance.
"Alright. Celia, my daughter, do get the tea and things for the detectives." Rick then said as he opened the door.
"It is quite alright. Just please, do gather the staff." Selene said formally and the stout man left the room.
"Selene!!!" Celeste said as she embraced her sister tightly and Selene did otherwise.
"It's been way too long!" Celeste grinned.
"Celeste, sister, think back to ten to fifty minutes." Selene smiled.
"Alright you two, stop the reunion. We have to find the others. And when we call each other, we go by our names in this... Scene..." Tyler said. Emphasizing on the word 'Scene' without enthusiasm.
"So... Celia as the daughter, Saffron and Trent as officers..." Selene then said as if in a daze.
"Right..." Celeste then said.
Tyler looked at the note and somehow found the instinct to rummage in his pocket as he instinctively wore white gloves to avoid his fingerprints from getting on the 'evidence'.
He picked up the note and read whatever was written on it in handwriting very much similar to the inky writing on the paper airplanes they got to enter the mansion.
They couldn't look for obvious signs of the same writing as it's what the German voice also named Richard used for them.
There was then a knock on the door and then Rick came into view. "Come now you three, and bring the note with you. I have gathered all the staff."
The three teammates gave each other nervous glances as they stepped out of the room and were following the steps of Rick back down to where they started.
There were several familiar and unfamiliar faces amomg them all. And...
"I demand to know why I'm here!" Ryan shrieked.
"Robert, the boss gathered us here, we can't deny that. It doesn't matter if you were told to just be a tour guide to them. You're still staff. Please don't think highly of yourself." One of the staff members said.
'Ryan's name here is Robert then...' Tyler thought.
"Selene!!! Celeste!!! Help!!!" Ryan exclaimed in agony while running towards Tyler and the two females.
"It's Celia?" Celeste said with a nervous smile.
"Celia?!" Ryan exclaimed in surprise and shrieked and Tyler facepalmed.
"Calm down Ryan, we have different names in this scene. It's fine." Tyler said.
It took Ryan a long time to calm down. But he did eventually.
"Right... I'd like to know what each and every one of you were doing just earlier and I'd like to know your schedules." Tyler said as detective instincts began to kick in. He deduced that those instincts came with his role as Detective Trevor.
Bertha grumpily gave Tyler the clipboard she'd been holding for a while and there were several papers about their shifts, schedules, working stations and how late or early they are to work.
"Do tell us when the letter was mailed to you." Selene said.
"Before you policemen even arrived! A couple of minutes ago or an hour ago actually." Rick said. "I was actually surprised when you police came over swiftly."
"Right... Names then?" Selene asked the staff.
And Selene then took out a pocketbook from her... Pocket... and took down notes. Names of the staff, ages, backgrounds, family, their height and weight and etc. If they lied, they'd be suspected and they'd find out the truth through the computer database of the place and also through citizen research.
"Tyler," Selene whispered to him after finishing up the notes. "Do call the others over."
Tyler quickly scanned the notes for the newer names if the group and then nodded and shot the staff members a stern and confident look.
"Robert, Gregory, Casey, Johan, Marcus, Cain and Jasper. Here. Now." Tyler said and the remaining teammates followed.
Robert was about to start 'creating' as he opened his mouth. "Don't treat us like you're authority Tyle-"
"I need to have a word with each of you. Beimg the most suspicious ones..." Tyler mumbled angrily as he dragged them towards the hallway and Selene and Celeste followed behind.
When they made their way there, someone familiar spoke up. "Enjoying the roleplay scene I created for you?"
"You German ass-" Carl started but was then cut off by an annoying sigh.
"Now, now, none of that swearing you dumme und undankbare Kinder."Richard said playfully. "Don't get me and Mr. Wolfe mixed up alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, put a sock in it." Marco said as he rolled his eyes.
"In this game or roleplay, there is no killer among each of you. No worries. But! The killer is among the staff! Find them, and you'll all be able to leave." Richard said casually yet playfully. And his annoying accent didn't match and made him sound really childish and stupid.
"Are you sure it's that simple?" Geoffrey asked as he wiped his glasses with a cloth he pulled out of his suit pocket.
"Ja. Sure I'm sure." Richard then said. "I won't be of any assistance at this rate you lot. Well then, it's time to play detective."
'Detective huh?' Thought Tyler as he held both the letter and the pocketbook with the information Selene earned.
'We'll see if you're fooling us.'
