Adrien Agreste, the boy underneath Chat Noir's black mask, completely and totally loved Ladybug and all he wanted was for her to be happy and alive and breathing and living and laughing and loving, even if she wasn't loving him, because that's what you do when you're in love. You put aside your happiness for theirs, even if they don't deserve it.

And every night, standing by her side, while she would survey the city, his eyes would be on her. When he was in danger, her feelings for him were apparent, in both forms. Lady Wifi, when he was trapped in the freezer and she used up her lucky charm in order to save him. Timebreaker, her panicked and furious state when he faded peacefully. Simon Says, protecting his civilian form to a bigger extent than necessary. Volpina, nearly giving up her miraculous for him. 

Days grow longer and nights grow shorter, I can show you I'll be the one.

But when he wasn't in a life-threatening situation, she kept him at arms length, shutting down every attempt and rolling her eyes and keeping her eyes easily off him.

An akuma based around knives, aiming for her heart. Her yoyo cast to the side, out of reach, and the steel blade descending rapidly towards her. Fear, real fear in her eyes as she braced herself.

And he jumped in front of her, took the hit while also swinging a punch at the most dangerous akuma they ever faced. Knocking Assassin out, but also bleeding out.

A frantic Ladybug broke nearly every item she could, cleansed the akuma and hoped, prayed to God her miraculous cure could bring back lives and heal wounds.

She sobbed into his chest, ignoring the beeping of her earrings, clinging onto her partner after he almost lost his life for her.

Please tell me you'll stay.

Letting her mask fall because her savior, her partner, the other half of her was almost lost forever and she couldn't bear to think of a world without him. It didn't matter to her that they were in the front of the Eiffel Tower in the middle of the day, all eyes on them. She once said she couldn't imagine a world without Adrien Agreste in the privacy of her diary, but she now knew in her heart that she would always need her kitty more than her crush. 

Use me as you will, pull my strings just for a thrill

And with his mask still on but hers disappeared in a flash of pink shimmers, she kissed him not because an akuma forced her to, but because after nearly losing him, she realised that she couldn't live, couldn't love with him.

He tried to reassure her later on her balcony, tried to reason that she was more important than him when she shouted that he wasn't to her and kissed him again.

And when he saw her march into the school with her head held high and a determined glint in her eyes and her mouth set in a line, ignoring the stares and the questions only to turn around at the top of the stairs and yell, "I am Ladybug, and there is nothing you can do about it," he had that same lovesick, gentle, caring smile on his face, green eyes shining in adoration and admiration.

He fought for her. Always for her. Side by side, for her life, for her love, for her smile, for her laugh, for her happiness. Her knight, her protector, her anything and everything, as long as he was hers. Battling akumas, his father, his oldest friend, his insecurities, his weaknesses, the darkness that threatened to swallow her light and he fed her more fuel to help her burn brighter. In his eyes, she was brighter than the stars, than the sun, brighter than the combined supernovas from around the universe and she guided him home. Home to her.

Because with every bruise, scar and cut; with all of the pain and sorrow and fear and anxiety that he felt; every internal battle that he fought, she was there. She fought with a fire unseen before when her kitty was in danger, desperate to save him from whoever or whatever dared touch him, even if it was himself. And he hurt no longer. 

Because the Miraculous Ladybug could not live without her unparalleled, extraordinary, perfect Chat Noir.
