Volpin? (Part 2 of Liam?)

Everyone wanted a part 2, so here it is! I feel like this song fitted this...

Adrien's self-satisfied smirk slipped away as he gaped at the building that just came crashing down. He ran to the window and caught a glimpse of an athletic boy in an orange and brown suit that resembled a fox. He hadn't even noticed Marinette at the window next to him as he swore.

"Oh, merde."

With that, he ran out of the classroom to find a place to transform.

Marinette had gone home, and was talking to Tikki when a knock came at her window.

"Tikki, could that really be another miraculous holder?" She asked with a confused look on her face. "And the way Adrien reacted..." She jumped when a knock came from the window. "Tikki, hide!" She hissed before going up on her balcony. Where the... hero? Akuma? Whoever from earlier was standing.

"Hello, my angel." He knelt and took her hand, planting a kiss on it. She couldn't help but feel slightly uncomfortable... kissing her hand was something only... Chat does.

"Uhh, who are you?" She shied away slightly, careful not to let him notice her discomfort, even though it was apparent. He smiled charmingly (I use that word a lot).

"Do you not remember? Well, my mask must make it hard to recognize me. It is I, Volpin, the fox superhero!" He bowed extravagantly. Marinette's bluebell eyes widened with realization.

"I... you... Liam?"She stammered, a hand going to her mouth. She was even more shocked when Chat appeared behind him. "What the heck is going on?! Why are you dressed like that? Why are you here?!"

The fox hero, oblivious to Chat's presence, moved closer to her, once again making her step back. She panicked slightly when her back hit the wall. "Well, angel, I am here to prove what I said is true. I am Volpin, and Chat Noir was simply jealous I was with such a beautiful young lady. He is the liar, he has always been jealous of me, for I am more powerful than Ladybug and him combined!"

"How could I be jealous of someone I've never seen before?"

Volpin whirled around to face Chat, who was cockily leaning his staff on his shoulder, but his eyes were anything but playful. His eyes were flaming, his face set in a stern frown. Marinette would have been scared if that look was directed at her, but as it was directed at him, she was relieved that he was serious about Volpin.

"Back off, Volpin. She doesn't want you here." He jumped down from her balcony railing and approached him, his posture now completely serious and intimidating. Volpin scowled.

"And how do you know that?" He sneered at the blond hero, before the corners of his lips curled up. "Are you attached to this one?" Volpin grabbed Marinette's wrist tightly, causing her to cry out in pain. Chat Noir's eyes turned wild, his once stone-like face now snarling. Volpin's malicious grin grew. "Oh, you are? Well, I'll be taking this!"

He forcefully pulled Marinette towards him and flew away.

Adrien pushed himself too hard, and Plagg knew it. That's why the kwami cut the transformation off early, forcing the teenager to go home early. He watched sadly as Adrien paced angrily, pulling at his hair with a furious and terrified look in his normally bright green eyes.

My fault he took her, my fault she's in danger, my fault, my fault, my fault, all my fault, all my fault, my fault-

"Kid, you're not going to help her by searching mindlessly and blaming yourself. You need a plan." Plagg interrupted with an unusually serious tone. "And this time, you can't fall back on Ladybug." He added, causing Adrien's head to snap towards him.

"What do you mean?! What's happened to Ladybug?!" He demanded. Plagg took in his expression. His skin was pale, cheeks flushed red, hair messy, eyes wild and angry and... scared. His holder was scared. The kwami felt his remaining playful attitude drain, along with his heart. "Tell me Plagg, please! I can't lose her too!"

"Ladybug can't help you find herself." Plagg stated, voice emotionless. Adrien's face paled a shade whiter, before groaning and sitting on his bed, head in hands. "Kid, we need to get back out the-"

"Plagg, I can't do this without her." His voice was cracking and shaking with unshed tears. Plagg was taken aback - he'd never seen his holder like this before. "She's the one who-who makes the plans, I'm just the stupid sidekick, I'm-"

"Damn it Adrien, she's counting on you!" The kwami screamed. Adrien looked up, startled to see the usually laid-back small god fuming, practically blazing with power and fire and... it made him realise this is a god. "Stop your whining and transform so we can save her, or I'll find someone else who can!"

Adrien let his fear and self-doubt drain, now only filled with fury. "Plagg, claws out."

Night had fallen. Chat Noir ran across the rooftops, the epitome of darkness, expression scarily blank and eyes practically glowing. There was one place he hadn't checked.

The top of the Eiffel Tower.

All day, Volpin had been leaping around Paris, leading him on while gaining the citizens' trust. Chat had figured out that he created illusions by now, and was often left frustrated when he grabbed at Marinette only for her to disappear in a cloud of smoke.

Now, Volpin was up at the highest point in Paris, and he had Marinette there too. His Princess. His lady.

Chat Noir was nothing like the jokester Paris had come to know.

Alya had come found him, almost in tears, asking him to find Marinette. His response was only that he would make sure Volpin would pay for taking her. His eyes were a dark, menacing green, a stark contrast to the bright green they normally were. Alya was left shocked, only wondering why he cared so much about her best friend.

He'd probably tie that up later. Or she would, whichever, he didn't care.

His footsteps were silent, the only sign of his presence were two eerie glowing spots in the night.

Volpin would not stop him from saving his love.

A leap, another, and he was crouched above where the fox-themed villain stood. Marinette was tied up, gagged and trembling. The anger flourished, that fire within him flared as if tonnes of oxygen were pumped on it. She was scared. He made her scared.

He would pay.

"Angel, how long do you think before Chat Noir comes for you?" Volpin knelt and grabbed her face roughly in his gloved hand, twisting her face into the light. Chat could barely hold in his growl at the sight of a purple bruise on her perfect face. "Maybe he's too cowardly to face me." Volpin laughed, gripping her face tighter when she tried to jerk her head away.

Echoing silence, an inaudible thump as Chat loomed over the unfortunate akuma. Unfortunate indeed, and that's saying something coming from the embodiment of bad luck. Said akuma stood and turned around.

"Maybe he doesn't care for you as much as I th-" Volpin cut himself off at the sight of the menacing hero behind him. "Ahh, Chat Noir. We were just talking about yo-" Chat shot forward, hand curled around Volpin's neck, holding him up.

"I could easily kill you now." Chat mused, voice terrifyingly calm. "After all, you kidnapped and hurt someone special to me." Volpin would've gulped in fear if he could. "But she wouldn't want to see that, so instead, I'll just knock you out." He was dropped, a force hitting the side of his head. He blacked out.

Claws slashed at her binds, careful not to hurt her as they untied her gag. She gasped for breath, after all, the gag had limited her ability to breathe, and stared at him. The masked boy's eyes were wide and relieved, hair messier than usual, breathing ragged. He pulled her into his arms, stroking her hair tenderly and shaking with contained sobs.

"You're okay... you're okay... thank god you're okay."

The next day, all was well. Sabine, Tom and Alya had enveloped her in hugs and showered her in concern. Marinette had gone to school, and was met with many 'I'm glad you're okay!'s. Liam stayed away from her, probably scared for his life after what Chat had said to him after Ladybug had cleansed him.

Lay a finger on Marinette again and you will answer to me. This time, no-one will be there to stop me.

Adrien sat in front of her, as always, offering a smile and tentatively asking if she was okay. She nodded, well aware of who he was, as he had felt it was only fair if he knew who she was that she knew his identity. They were glad, but Marinette would never forget the look in his eyes.

Chat Noir was very protective of his Princess, and now, everyone in Paris knew it.

voila, enjoy.
