souls
This one is dark. Fits my current mood, but be warned. Feel free to ask questions if you need to understand anything, though, this one may be hard to follow.
Inspired by Frisk and Chara. And Undertale in general.
Your heart was beating fast and your stomach was twisting into knots and you felt like you were going to throw up and you felt your eyes stinging with tears threatening to fall. It was illogical, unbelievable, that you couldn't even face your teacher when you broke your perfect record for homework. After all, you were Ladybug, for Christ's sake! You shouldn't be scared of not turning in a project because it wasn't completely finished!
But you were. And you were on the verge of breaking down.
What's worse, Alya wasn't there.
You were alone in a noisy classroom and people could be staring at you and oh god what if they were staring at you oh god what if they were all staring at you what would they think of you would they think you were a loner would they make fun of you for being a loner but you're not a loner you have AlyaohgodwhatifAlyaditchesyouandleavesyoualoneandthenyou'llreallybealonerandeveryonewill

Damn it, you were rambling again.
You heard a laugh somewhere around you.
"Look, everyone, Marinette's all alone! What a loner!" Chloe's wicked voice directed their attention on you. You shrank down in your seat, trying to get them to stop staring and just leave you be and-
Oh god, it was happening.
You tried to hold it in, tried to hide, you had to hide, you couldn't let them see, you couldn't break, not here, not now. Hide, hide, hide, be invisible, don't run but get away, hide, run, bolt, you need to get away, go, hide, NOW!
You wish you didn't listen to the voices in your head, because you felt her come out.
The one who doesn't follow rules. The one who doesn't care about any feelings except yours. The one who doesn't feel anything at all except a fierce sense of protectiveness for you and only you. When it gets too much, when you're unstable, when you're so close to shattering, she comes out and pushes you behind her to protect you, give you time to settle yourself away from the edge, give you time to heal.
In a way, you loved her for that. But the things she did, the words she said, they were never careful as you usually were. And it was worse, because no-one but Alya and her parents knew of her. No-one in your class would understand.
She was the one you called Bridgette.
You felt your consciousness slip as she took control.
You blacked out.

With her in control, her entire aura shifted. She stood up straight, eyes blazing with unforeseen anger, her eyes turned a shade darker as she walked right up to Chloe. The tiny girl was replaced by a presence that captured attention instead of deflecting it. She stared right into Chloe's slightly fearful eyes and smiled creepily.
"We haven't met, but I know who you are." Her voice had changed too, it was terrifying. Her voice was low and croaky. "You're the reason she cries to herself in the silence of her home. You're why she's so insecure, she's so full of self-doubt. You're the reason she did this to our body." She violently pulled up her sleeve to reveal silvery scars running in neat lines across her arms.
"Wh-what's g-going o-o-on?" Chloe's voice trembled. "Marinette, w-what are y-you doing?!"
She chuckled darkly. "Don't mistake me for her. If you have ever heard of Undertale, you could say I'm Chara while she's Frisk." Nino and Max sucked in breaths. They knew exactly what she was talking about. "But, then again, you're not the type to play games with anything other than people." Drawing back her other sleeve, she showed more scars, these ones curving in the delicate, sickening shape of a flower. "She puts up with the pain you inflict on her. I won't."
"Marinette, what the hell are you talking about?!" The blond's voice grew high-pitched and screechy, attracting more attention. A curious cat watched too, fear and shock mixing in his stomach.
"Marinette has been... disconnected, if you will. I am her other half. The Flowey to her Asriel, the darkness to her light, the witch to her princess, the violence to her passive nature." She cracked her neck, still with that sick, creepy grin on her face that was more like a snarl. "You may call me Bridgette, or your worst nightmare, your choice."
"BRIDGETTE STOP!" A voice from behind her, footsteps slamming onto pavement, arms grabbing at her fists which had started to move. She turned around to see Alya, hair wild and eyes wide and panicked. Her grin only grew wider.
"She almost broke her again. I have to protect her, Alya, don't you see?" She looked back at a trembling Chloe before Alya grabbed at her face to force her to look her in the eye.
"I know, I know you have to protect her, but while she's at school, that's my job, remember?" Alya said firmly. She tilted her head.
"How are you supposed to protect her when you're not here?" She placed a hand on her heart, staring straight in Alya's guilty brown eyes. "I can feel her, in here. She's curled up in a ball, asleep with tears running down her cheeks. She's so small, so fragile. So easy to break. I am her last line of defense."
Alya nodded, acutely aware of the stares they were getting. "Yes, yes I know. But look all around." Her head slowly moved from side to side, scanning faces and meeting confused, shocked, scared eyes. "You're scaring them, you're getting attention. What do you think will happen when you're gone and she's back? The attention she'll get, the questions, the comments about the girl with another soul inside her. Wouldn't that break her?"
Slowly, she nodded, copying Alya's action. "Yes... yes. I see." Alya broke into a relieved smile, which turned to horror when she clenched her fists and her eyes darkened further and her twisted smile turned into a frenzied grimace. "They plan to hurt her." Her fists started to glow, something which Alya had been trying to prevent.
Panicked, Alya tried to calm her down "No, stop, this will get her more questions and more attention! She doesn't want that! Please, Bridgette, stop, this isn't what she would want!" Alya cried, desperately trying to stop the wrathful shaking.
"I will not let them hurt her." She snarled, the crimson light moving from her fists to envelop her whole body as she lifted off the ground slightly. Alya, perturbed, didn't notice her own glow lifting her up too, her hands still on Bridgette's shoulders.
Adrien watched from the ground, mouth open. Nino, beside him, whispered. "They're... two of the Determined?"
"No, no this isn't right! Marinette, if you can hear me, stop her, please! She's overreacting again!" Alya was shaking now, with fear, desperation, and unease. "She's going to bring out Aya, and then I won't be able to help you!"

Deep in the back of your mind, you stirred. But... Bridgette wasn't there, waking you up and telling you it was okay. Slightly uneasy, you tried to look out through your eyes. What you saw, however, filled you with terror.
Alya was there, but she was glowing, and there was only one reason why she'd be glowing in broad daylight. That meant she was glowing. You jolted up and screamed for Bridgette to give you back control. When she wouldn't, you tackled her away and took control by force.
The fury in your eyes faded, replaced by desperation. You dropped the glow, dropped to the floor, Alya right in front of you the whole time. Frantic, you shook your head. Bridgette was trying to force you back.
"No, no, no! You were about to hurt everyone, I can't let you do that!" You cried, tears slipping down your face. "No, I won't allow it! You can't! I'm in control now, there's nothing you can do!" Alya was rubbing your arms comfortingly as your voice nearly gave out. "No, no, let me have this one time! One time where I don't let you protect me! Alya's here now, she can protect me, I don't need you anymore, I'm sorry! No, please, I'm sorry Bridgette." Your voice dropped in volume. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you hurt them." You whispered, bending your head to the ground. "Not one of them. We had an agreement. No-one gets hurt unless they are trying to hurt me and no-one is coming to protect me." You listened as she yelled in your mind. "I know, but I'm okay now. Alya's here, you don't have to worry."
Alya pulled you into her arms, where you listened to her heartbeat as she calmed down. "Yes, I'm here now, I'm sorry for leaving but I'm here now, it's okay..." She whispered in your ear soothingly, and you felt yourself relaxing. "Now, let's go home and have some hot chocolate and calm down, alright?" You nodded, scared to look up and face the stares. After all, they were taught that the Determined were dangerous. And after what they just saw?
There was no doubt they'd try to lock up you and Alya.
You got up, still holding onto Alya's hands, trying not to turn your head because that would mean meeting the stares, seeing their distrustful gazes. But you couldn't help it, you had to know. You had to know what those two would think.
You glanced over at where you knew they were standing. Nino... he looked shocked, shaken, but not angry. Nino wouldn't be angry with you or Alya for keeping a secret. It was, after all, to protect yourselves. But Adrien... you didn't know how he'd react. What you saw surprised you.
He was staring directly at you, searching your eyes for something, what it was you didn't know. When he noticed your gaze, he smiled. Just smiled. Nothing else, no angry, distrustful glances, no hidden fear. Just a smile.
You felt your heart lift, and you shakily returned the smile before turning away.

He searched her eyes and found it. That vulnerability, that brokenness, that insecurity and... behind that was her strength. Her determination. The determination that helped her take control of herself back from Bridgette. He offered her a smile, and watched as that insecurity faded and determination to be strong, to keep going shone in her eyes. She smiled back before leaving.
He was left knowing he had two people to confide in, and one small girl who would understand completely. The same girl who always understood completely. His partner. His lady.
He found his Ladybug, and he was more determined than ever to stay by her side.
So... many... Undertale... references...
