Soulmates and a good day
I really like the idea of the writing on your body and your soulmate gets it, and I figure it could be really funny or cute so here eat this stupid little one shot
Adrien frowns when he first feels the tingling sensation on his arm, before breaking into a grin when he sees writing in a pink pen appearing. Present for Alya. His soulmate! Huh. Was it Alya's birthday soon? He spots a green marker on his desk, and uncaps it. Time to mess with his soulmate for a bit...
Marinette, being the forgetful person she is, knew she would forget to buy Alya a gift tomorrow, so she wrote herself a reminder. However, she shrieks when she sees the green writing appearing below her reminder.
Is it Alya's birthday soon?
"Oh my god..." she whispers. Nervous, she grabs her pen again and writes to her new-found soulmate. Yeah, I just need to remind myself. I'm a tad forgetful. Sorry! At least her handwriting is neat... and so is his...
When is it? I should probably get her a gift too, and tell Nino to get her one. The blunette's eyes widen as she read this. He's in her class? What if it's Nathanael? What if it's Adrien?!
Day after next. So, you're in my class?
Ms Bustier? Ah, he's definitely in her class.
Yup. Do you think Nino and Alya need to get together? Adrien grins. She's in his class! Pumping a fist in the air, he writes a reply.
Definitely.
Do you know what happened between them at the zoo? Alya won't tell me! Marinette giggles, remembering that day, and how Nino said he had a crush on her (Seriously?!), then laughs remembering how Alya was hiding in the bushes.
Nah, Nino won't tell me either. Weird that Ladybug locked them in a cage. Adrien smiles, thinking of his lady. She's probably not his soulmate, but he still loves her.
Maybe Ladybug secretly ships them too! Marinette snickers at the truth of that statement. Should she tell her soulmate? Eh, maybe along the road...
Speaking of heroes, what are your opinions on the two? Adrien smirks. Of course, he's just fishing for compliments now.
Chat is a flirt, and annoying, and his puns are stupid... but Ladybug needs him. She smiles, just remembering some of the puns Chat would make in the middle of a battle. Of course, she knows he's just trying to get her to laugh, but they're pretty ridiculous sometimes.
Adrien sits there, shocked. How do you know? Ladybug needs him? He's annoying? She thinks he's a flirt?!
She giggles, a smug smile forming on her face. Met both of them.
Really?! Adrien is pretty sure the only civilians he spoke to was his father, Marinette, and Alya. Ladybug usually takes care of the akumatised victims after they save them.
Yup. Chat decided to show off. I made faces behind him, but I don't think he noticed. She snickers, remembering him posing in front of her and her overacting. She can't believe he didn't notice!
When was this? He tries to remember showing off to any civilians... She made faces behind him?! Oh, he was going to pay her a visit later...
Evillustrator incident. Poor Nathanael, all he wanted was a date with the girl he liked. Marinette frowns, imagining her tricking him. Although it was too save him, she still felt guilty.
Adrien gasps. His soulmate is Marinette! Well... that explains the present for Alya thing... He's conflicted. Marinette was sweet, kind, and bubbly, but she wasn't his Lady. Glancing down, he sees all the pink ink on his arm begin to disappear and a new message comes on his palm. Sorry, but do you mind cleaning off the green ink? My mum is calling me for dinner. He smiles at the sweet girl.
Your apologies are unnecessary, Marinette.
What? How did you figure it out? She gapes. She hadn't told him who she was, although maybe the present for Alya thing was a major clue... and he's in her class so... Wait, who does she know is great friends with Nino?
Uhh... lucky guess? Adrien hastily writes back, just as Marinette sends him one last message.
Adrien? Is that you? Can we come back to this later, Maman is now yelling at me. Adrien chuckles, guessing that mentioning Nino tipped her off.
Yes, this is Adrien, and sure thing. Bye, Mari. Marinette smiles at the message, and blushes. Her mother notices what she's looking at and gasps happily. "Tom! Marinette's got her soulmate!!"
"Oh no, no boy's coming near my girl just yet!" Her father grins, looking at Marinette's arm. Great, Adrien forgot to wipe off the ink.
"Papa! I'm 15!" Their daughter whines, and tugs her arm away. "Can we eat?"
Adrien lay on his bead, waiting for Marinette to come back. His kwami Plagg start talking. "So this Marinette girl, the one who stutters ridiculously around you, who sits behind you in class, is your soulmate? And I thought my soulmate was unexpected." Adrien jerks up to look at the cat-like creature.
"You have a soulmate?"
He snorts and gulps down a piece of cheese. "Of course I do. It's Ladybug's kwami, Tikki. She eats cookies. Come to think of it, Marinette carries cookies everywhere..." Suddenly, Plagg jumps up excitedly. "Oh this couldn't be better! Of course it's her, who else would Tikki choose? I can see her again!"
Adrien is thoroughly confused. What on earth was the kwami talking about? What could get him more excited than cheese? "Plagg? You alright?"
Plagg turns to Adrien. "Go visit Marinette as soon as possible. And make sure you bring me."
The blond idiot stares at the cat thing. "If I go anywhere, I bring you. Why is it so important to bring you then?" Said cat thing rolls his eyes.
"You're an idiot, you know?"
At Marinette's Tikki talks to her excitedly after dinner. "Marinette! Your soulmate is Adrien! I'm sure you'll get along as well as my soulmate and I!"
The blunette looks at her red kwami. "You have a soulmate?"
She giggles. "Of course I do, silly! It's Plagg, Chat Noir's kwami. He's annoying and lazy but he's said he loves me more than cheese, and he loves cheese a lot!" Tikki sighs happily before staring at Marinette and squealing excitedly. "Marinette, if Adrien asks to meet you sometime, make sure to bring me! I know you would anyway, but this is important!"
Marinette nods, then it dawns on her. "He's... he's... He has Plagg doesn't he?" The blunette suddenly laughs, throwing her head back. "This is perfect, isn't it Tikki? Are all Chat Noir's and Ladybug's soulmates?"
Tikki nods. "Most of the time, because they work so well together, and because of Plagg and I." Marinette laughs again and uncaps her pen, writing a message to Adrien, or more commonly know as Chat Noir.
A little bird told me we should meet up soon. Are you busy right now? Adrien stares at the message. "Well Plagg, your wish is about to come true."
We can meet. Park in about 10 minutes? Marinette laughs. "Tikki, your wish is about to come true." The girl pulls on a coat and goes downstairs, telling her parents that she was going for a walk. Jogging to a park bench, she sits and giggles at Tikki's excited squeaks. Not long after, Adrien shows up.
"Hey Marinette." He smiles warmly at the girl. She grins and ruffles up his hair. He's a little shocked, Marinette was never this confident around him! All in all, he likes this side of her...
"Hey Adrien. You don't suppose I can meet this Plagg Tikki's been talking about for the past half hour?" She giggles again at his shocked expression. Plagg immediately comes out of his hidden pocket hugs Tikki, who flew out of her purse. They hug in mid air and Marinette coos at the pair. "They're so cute together!"
Plagg turns to the young holder who took care of Tikki. "You are definitely smarter than this bozo, and I bet I left more hints than Tikki." Adrien glances from the two kwamis to Marinette and back again before breaking out in a grin at the girl's smug smile.
"Why thank you, Plagg, but I believe that was obvious. He's the flirt who always risks his life for me, I'm the one who saves his butt when he does," she teases the young model, then frowns. "Although I do wish you wouldn't do that... I can take care of myself."
"Yeah, but then I'd never get to hear you yell my name in a panic." He wiggles his eyebrows and Marinette bursts out laughing.
"Chat's personality on your face... oh my god..." She continues giggling. "I would never have guessed... you act so different as Chat..."
Adrien suddenly frowns. What if she likes Adrien and not Chat? After all, Chat is his true personality. "Who do you like more? Chat or Adrien?" He needs to know. His heart pounds in nervous anticipation.
"Adrien is really sweet and kind, that's what I like about him. But Chat... he's just so... human. You know? I feel more like myself with Chat. Anyway, the Adrien I know is just a mask isn't he? Ironic, really." She smiles warmly at him, and his heart quickens, except now with something he doesn't want to identify. He feels... so much happier with her, so welcome, because she is Marinette, shy, clumsy, kind, understanding Marinette, and she is Ladybug, brave, strong, fierce Ladybug. To be honest, if Ladybug weren't real, he would have fallen for Marinette instead, her eyes would draw him into their gentle pools of crystal blue, and her raven hair would hide a shy blush, and her soft, pink lips would curl into that smile he loved so much, and her soft skin underneath his hands...
"Adrien? You're staring." Marinette breaks him out of his trance and a blush coats his cheeks once he registers where those thoughts were going, and embarrassed that he was caught staring.
"Uh, yeah, um, s-sorry, I, uh, zoned out..." He fumbles over his words, trying to not stare at her amused expression or her hands which looked like they would fit perfectly in his... NO ADRIEN THIS IS WHERE YOU WENT WRONG.
She giggles lightly. "Looks like the roles are reversed. Anyway, I'd better get going. See you tomorrow?" She stands and smiles at him again and it was making his heart flutter again. He stood up as well and before his courage left, he took her hand and kissed it softly.
"Tomorrow, milady."
TOMORROW
"Plagg, is my hair okay?" he asked the kwami in a nervous tone. Now with these new-found feelings for Marinette, he was excited and nervous to see her. And she was going to be sitting behind him all day. Well, while they has class. Which was most of the day.
"It looks the same as it does everyday. What's the big deal? She's only the love of your life." The black cat snickered and gulped down a piece of cheese. This, of course, only made Adrien more nervous. Why couldn't he have a more helpful kwami? He bets Tikki would be more helpful...
"Excited about seeing Tikki again? For more than twenty minutes?" He asks. Plagg looks up with a grin he's never seen on that face before.
"Of course! Tikki's sweet and understanding and caring and although she's a little annoying at times she's absolutely perfect! I love her more than cheese." He spins through the air, describing Tikki. It's Adrien's turn to snicker.
"You sound as love-struck as me." He outright laughs at the sour look Plagg sends him.
Meanwhile, Marinette is woken up by Tikki, again, which makes her run to get ready and makes her late again.
"Marinette, I know you stayed up late with Adrien, but you need to wake up earlier." Tikki smiles at the rushing girl, who stops to send her a smile.
"Sorry Tikki, but you know me! Always sleeping in!" The girl's cheerful tone is due to the fact that Adrien is her soulmate. Adrien! And he's Chat! She doesn't like two boys anymore! This couldn't get better - well, it could, if Alya and Nino could admit to being soulmates, because that would be beautiful.
"Bye Maman, bye Papa!" She kisses them both on the cheek before running out the door to the school.
Nino nudges Adrien as he sits there, staring at the door. "Dude, what's up? You're out of it." Alya furiously texts her best friend.
"Ugh, she is always late!" she sighs, before noticing Adrien's gaze, almost as if... he's waiting for someone... Alya grins mischievously. "Nino, I think Adrien is waiting for a certain someone to come rushing through the door, late, as always."
Adrien jolts at Alya's words. "N-no I'm not! I'm just, uh, um, oh, hey Marinette!" He smiles at the girl, who, true to Alya's prediction, came rushing through the door, late. At least Ms. Bustier didn't show up yet.
The blunette smiles at Adrien, ruffling his hair affectionately as she goes past. "You look like Chat now," she whispers in his ear, giggling. This sends Adrien into a panic, as he doesn't want people to find out he's Chat, so he starts messing with his hair until Marinette grabs his hands and fixes it for him, enjoying the light pink dusted on his cheeks. Nino and Alya stare at the two for a minute.
"Wait... you didn't... Oh my god, you totally did!" Alya squeals in excitement at the two who were now obviously flirting, Adrien sending compliments, and Marinette returning them with a wink or a smirk. Nino just keeps staring.
"You were SO waiting for her to come in." He blatantly cuts through their conversation and watches as Marinette gives Adrien an amused half-smirk while he blushes from embarrassment.
"W-well, I, we - Marinette, help me out here!" He glances desperately at the beautiful girl behind him, holding back a dreamy sigh.
Marinette now gives a full smirk and takes out a pen, writing on her arm. The blond model, who now loves that tingling sensation on his skin, glances down to see the words Tease him about Alya. They exchanged grins. After parting, the two had stayed up a little - okay a lot - writing to each other. Nino and Alya had texted their respective best friends about their soulmates at the exact same time, suspiciously. Adrien smirks, replying before speaking.
Kiss for encouragement? Marinette rolls her eyes and giggles. The familiar sensation of words appearing on his arm and he glances down at her reply. Later, kitty.
He beams. She said later! Okay, get back to the task at hand. "Hey Nino, what's been going on with your love-life, if you're so interested in mine?" The aspiring DJ turned bright red, almost in sync with the girl behind him. Marinette notices this as well, as joins in.
"Yeah Alya, what's been going on with your soulmate you texted me about last night?" Marinette teases her friend, who scowls.
"Hey Mari, Nino also texted me about his soulmate last night." He turns to his respective soulmate, an exaggerated look of curiosity on his face. Marinette tries to swallow a laugh and goes along with it.
"What a coincidence." She turns to the two who wore identical looks - red as a tomato and scowling - with overdone inquisitiveness. "Wouldn't you say, Alya?"
The two brunette's smack their friends on the arm. "We get it, you know. Now what's going on with you two?" Alya whines, glancing at Nino who folds his arms. Marinette laughs, and Adrien loses himself in the sound. He wants to hear it all the time, but he also wants to hear her voice all the time, so it's a conflicting situation.
"You seriously didn't notice?" She raises an eyebrow and points at her forearm, which she just wrote on. Alya reads the writing and looks at Adrien's out-stretched arm and squeals for the second time that day.
"AH!!!! NINO LOOK!" The excited girl shoves Marinette's arm closer so the bespectacled boy can read it, as well as his best friend's. Soon, he wears an identical grin to Alya's.
"Called it. Didn't I, Als? I SO called it." He smiles smugly at the two grinning at each other. He notices the look in Adrien's eye is one of adoration, and that same look is reflected in Marinette's eyes. He sighs at the two, silently thanking whoever decides people's soulmates for putting these two together.
"ADRIKINS!!!!" Marinette groans and writes on her arm again. Here she comes, brace yourself. Adrien laughs at the message before arms were thrown around him. However, they weren't the arms he wanted. Chloe always smelled heavily of sickly perfume and her face was covered in makeup, while Marinette didn't need makeup, or perfume... she smelled of cookies and bread, she smelled of home... SNAP OUT OF IT AGRESTE!
"Hey, Chlo." Adrien squirms uncomfortably in the girl's grip. He somehow managed to write a message to Marinette without her noticing.
Marinette glances down at her arm and notices his message. Help me. She starts giggling. However, Chloe notices the girl's mirth, and leaves Adrien to harass her instead.
"Ooh, little Marinette has a soulmate! Would who'd've thought? I thought she'd end up alone, with seven cats to keep her company." Chloe sneers at the now brave girl, who stands up. Strangely and conveniently, Ms Bustier still hadn't shown up.
"Chloe, what are you gaining by bullying me?" She asks the blond girl calmly. "Everyone has a soulmate. You know that, everyone knows that. What do you gain by putting me down?"
The class goes silent, watching the blunette stand up to the girl who seemed to put them all down. Chloe splutters, trying to come up with something. "I'm not bullying you, I'm telling the truth!" she screeches. Marinette almost winces but doesn't, for the sake of girl in front of her.
"You are bullying me, you bully everyone in this classroom except Adrien, and you know it. Why? You aren't making friends, you aren't impressive, you aren't winning anything except other people's fear. Do you want them to be afraid of you?" Her calm, questioning tone makes Adrien proud. He's proud of this girl for standing up not only for herself, but for her classmates as well. If he wasn't already in love with her, he was now.
"I - I'll call Daddy!" She whips out her phone, but doesn't make the call. A gentle hand stops her, belonging to a smiling girl with kind eyes. A girl she bullied, yet is still being nice to her.
"Chloe, none of us want to dislike you. Give us a reason to be proud to call you our classmate. Give us a reason to call you a friend instead of the Mayor's daughter." Marinette smiles at the blond girl, who was now dangerously close to tears.
"I - w-why are you being so nice to me? All I've been is horrible to you!" She sniffles, her voice quiet. Marinette pulls her into a hug, shocking half the class and bringing smiles to the other half.
"Chloe, will you do me the honour of letting me show you what it means to be a friend?" Holding the girl by her shoulders, Marinette smiles gently. Chloe sniffs again and nods. That's when Alya pipes up from behind them.
"Hey, if you want, come hang out with us! Marinette makes mean croissants, and we might let you have one or three!" She winks at the now smiling girl. Chloe couldn't believe these girls. They open up to her after a year of bullying, a year of names, after a simple nod. Her heart feels weird, it was like... she feels, for once in her life, genuinely liked. Not for her daddy, not for her money, but for her. She could stop feeling so used all the time, she could stop using other people. She genuinely smiles, feeling for once happy, and accepted.
"Thank you," she says timidly before turning to the rest of the class. "I'm sorry for how I acted towards all of you. Especially you, Sabrina, because you've been nothing but a friend to me, and you, Marinette, because even after all I did, you still showed me kindness. Thank you. I truly am sorry." She bows her head, expecting nothing, but what she got was hugs from Rose and Marinette and Alya, and a clap on the shoulder from Alix and Kim, and claps from everyone, and cheers from Mylene and Nino, and a whisper in her ear from her oldest friend.
"Welcome back, Chlo." Adrien smiled at her and she realised, she didn't deserve this boy. She didn't love him. He was her brother, her friend, not her love interest. He knew her before she changed, and he was welcoming that girl back. She returns the smile.
"Glad to be back, Adri," she whispers, using her childhood nickname for him.
Later that day
Chloe laughs with Marinette and Alya, who were making fun of X-Y. Marinette grins at her old and new friends, before waving goodbye to the two before heading home at the end of the day. Tikki, who had spent all day with Plagg, smiles up at her holder.
"What you did was really nice, Marinette. I'm glad to have you as my holder." Marinette smiles affectionately at the red kwami. That smile remains on her face for a long time.
"Today was a good day Tikki. Perhaps the best I've had."
Tikki nods. "That it was, Marinette."
GUYS THAT WAS OVER 3500 WORDS LONG I DID NOT MEAN FOR IT TO GO THAT LONG BUT I HOPE Y'ALL APPRECIATE IT I liked writing it, because I imagine that Chloe is mean because she's afraid of people using her and she's really insecure, and I love the soulmate thing, and I ship Tikki and Plagg, strange as it sounds. Alright, I'm going to go and publish this and write new one-shots. BYE!
