Miraculous Marinette
SORRY ABOUT THE LACK OF ONE-SHOTS! Bad case of writer's block, but I'm rewatching the series to kick-start my brain!
Chloe may act like the queen bee of the school, but in reality, it was always Marinette's class.
Marinette was the endearingly clumsy girl who learned from her mistakes. Marinette was the overly kind girl who could still seriously kick ass. Marinette was the missing presence that everyone felt when she wasn't there and Marinette's was the voice and laugh they all heard.
Kim and Marinette always had a playful relationship, forever teasing and playing pranks on everyone, including each other.
"Mar! Check out this video of Chloe I got!" Kim called her over, holding his phone out for her to see. It played a clip of Chloe walking through a door and a bucket of water falling on her, which was attached to a string which made a bag of flour fall on her as well.
"Ugh! Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous! Who dares do this to me?!" Video Chloe screeched, stomping her feet.
Marinette didn't hide her laugh. "That is gold! Send it to me and Alya, it'll be such good blackmail material!"
Nathaniel and Marinette were the two most creative people in their grade, always partnering up for art projects and assigned to design banners for school events.
"And first place is Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Nathaniel Kurtzberg!" Mr Damocles announced, even though everyone already knew it.
Marinette jumped up and pulled the shy red-head with her up to the stage, and once accepting their small trophy, hugged him with her free arm. "Who gets the trophy this time, Nath?"
He smiled, teal eyes sparkling. "I think it's your turn."
"You always say that!"
"That's because I already get trophies from art competitions out of school!"
Marinette laughed, arm still around his shoulders. "We really do make a great team, don't we? Marinette and Nathaniel, unstoppable artists!"
Rose and Marinette were considered the sweetest girls in the school, and the most enthusiastic when it came to environmental projects.
"Rose! Rose!" Marinette dashed down the steps to reach the blond from where she was talking with Juleka. "Mr Damocles is actually considering getting a school pet!"
Rose turned with a huge, giddy smile on her face. "Really? Can we get a puppy? Or a kitten? Or a hamster? What about a mouse? Ooh, can we take care of it? We need toys and a home for whichever animal we get! Ooh, this will be so much fun!"
Alix and Marinette were the best at martial arts, and had the most fun commentating over sports and other competitors.
"Ooh, that's a bad move, left an opening on his right side - which his opponent has taken full advantage of!" Alix snickered as a guy from their rival school got a kick to the side from another school, the wind knocked out of him.
Marinette winced in sympathy. "That's gotta hurt, but wait! He's quickly bounced back up and gone right back with an attack followed by a block!"
Mylene and Marinette both had a flair for the dramatic, especially when it came to acting.
"It's not safe, Joan! You will surely get hurt or worse! I beg of you, stay, stay where it's safe!" Mylene pleaded, emotion radiating off her as she reached for Marinette's shoulder.
Marinette turned. "I'm sorry, Catherine, but if not me, who will? There are people in there, my family in danger! I must save them!" With that line, she quickly hugged Mylene and dashed off stage, leaving Mylene to fall to her knees with her face in her hands.
"Great job you two!" Ms Bustier congratulated them from the seat at the foot of the stage. "I cold really see the emotion!"
Mylene got up and grinned, bowing as Marinette slid back on stage on her socks. "Thank you, Ms... Marinette, you remember what happened last time you did that!" Mylene turned to see Marinette sliding around and immediately chased after her, earning a sigh from the literature teacher.
Max and Marinette were unstoppable video game champions, always discussing new games and strategies.
"Max, did you hear about the latest upgrade?" Marinette swiveled in her seat to face her preferred partner in video games.
"Of course I did, I also downloaded it and have already tested the new abilities. It seems that most are simply used in combo moves, but there are a few that are strong on their own." Max adjusted his glasses, a small smile tugging at his mouth.
"Wanna test it out at say, 4 pm today at the tournament?" Marinette's grin grew mischievous, blue eyes glittering with excitement.
"Yes, I believe that would be a good idea."
Needless to say, they won.
Ivan and Marinette acted like siblings, always there for each other and always helping each other out.
"Hey Ivan, can you help me? I can't reach the shelf and Mylene's using the stepladder." Marinette popped her head around the corner to see Ivan putting his brush down and the making his way towards her.
"Sure, Mar." He laced his fingers together, lifting Marinette's petit body up onto his shoulders so that she could reach a can of red paint.
"Thanks!" She hugged him briefly before nimbly climbing down.
Juleka and Marinette the most insightful girls in the grade, who always knew what was up with everyone.
"Okay Mireille - what's up with you and Theo?" Marinette folded her arms with Juleka beside her, the two with concerned smiles on their faces.
Mireille sighed, slouching suddenly. "He's just... he's always just..." Tears escaped her brown eyes as she bit her lip.
Juleka was quick to envelop her in a hug, comforting and caring. "Hey, it's okay. Tell us when you're ready."
Sabrina and Marinette would always study together, whenever Sabrina needed a break from Chloe's attitude.
"Sabrina, can you help me out with this question? I think I've got it, but I keep getting the wrong answer." Marinette bit the end of her pencil, letting Sabrina look over at the question.
"You've got the right method, you just need to remember to perform the action of both sides of the equation instead of just one." Sabrina tapped her mistakes with her pen.
"Oh, right, thanks!"
Nino and Marinette were, well, they were cousins. What more to it could there be?
"Mar, is Aunt Sabine bringing back that cloth she borrowed off Mum anytime soon?" Nino turned around in her seat to face Marinette. Marinette paused in her sketch, before slapping her forehead.
"Maman told me to grab it this morning but I forgot! I'll get it during lunch, promise!" Marinette grinned sheepishly as Nino rolled his eyes.
"Also, do you have any croissants? I'm starving over here!" He pouted, earning a giggle from the blunette and an outstretched hand with a croissant. "Thanks, Mar-bear!"
"Anytime Nin-bro!"
It was always Marinette's class, which was why Alya and Adrien were so lucky. As new students, there was usually a month or longer before they fit in, but because of Marinette, they easily fit into the picture that was their class. Alya was anticipating one friend for a while at least, the day she met Marinette, but after a single day, found that her class was like a family, and Marinette was simultaneously the mother and the sister and the friend. She was the definition of the girl next door, kind and sweet and accepting and cute.
Adrien had always been astounded by how quickly he fit in, and couldn't figure it out at first. But then he noticed how often Marinette confronted Chloe, defending everyone, including him. He noticed her friendship with the rest of the class and the way she treated him too, trying her best to include him in everything. He noticed how many waves and smiles she would get, how every time she would return them.
"You're really miraculous, Marinette."
She stopped for a minute, glancing up at his gentle smile from where she was rummaging through a drawer for her measuring tape. She smiled, cheeks dusted with pink.
"Everyone's miraculous, Adrien. I'm just a girl trying to make the world a better place, one smile at a time."
