Hogwarts

Mild language, it's only arse in this one. Also, HOGWARTS AU OH YEAH.

"What are you doing with a Slytherin?" The brown-haired Hufflepuff narrowed his eyes, inspecting the blunette standing next to his Ravenclaw friend. "Didn't you hear about He-who-must-not-be-named?" The blond Gryffindor beside him nodded but had a contemplative look on his face.

Alya, the Ravenclaw, rolled her eyes. "Not all Slytherins are evil, Nino." At Nino's skeptical look, she grabbed her newest friend's face and squished her cheeks together, earning startled wide blue eyes. "Does this look like the face of evil to you?" Nino stared at Alya while Adrien, the Gryffindor, snickered at the 'evil' witch's expression.

Marinette folded her arms, a generally done expression in her eyes. "Alya." She cut into the two brunette's staring competition with a flat voice, Alya's brown eyes flicking towards her.

"Yeah?"

"Let go of my face."

"Hmm... nope."

Sighing, Marinette reached for her wand. Waving it at Alya, she uttered a spell. "Rictusempra."

Alya shrieked as invisible hands began to tickle her. She dropped to the floor laughing hysterically, hands clutching at her sides as she wriggled. "Okay, okay! Make it stop!" She begged, choking on laughter.

Marinette giggled. "Finite Incantatum." She performed the spell to stop a spell currently in effect, letting Alya stand up and scowl playfully at her best friend before she turned back to the two boys.

"She's also freakishly good at spells. But not potions. She is terrible at potions." Alya slung an arm around her best friend, who blushed and giggled again. "But no way is she evil."

Nino shrugged. "How do I know that?"

Marinette's eyes glinted knowingly. "Cast Legilimens on me." At Nino's shocked expression, she nodded. "Go on, do it. See if I have any intent on killing anyone. Look into my past. Find the evil you so readily said was in me."

Nino's eyes narrowed once more. He reached for his wand. "Legilimens" He whispered and dove into the mind of Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

A bakery with magic-enhanced sweets. Loving parents teaching how to be kind, how to be grateful, how to understand. Saving a cat from a tree. Helping up an elderly man. Being bullied. Staying strong. A red and black spotted mask. A gold trophy. Getting her letter. Finding Alya on the train. Accepting the fact that she was a Slytherin. Ambition. Cunning. Resourcefulness. Accepting the fact that she was in the same house as her bully. Fear of being used. Fear of being unloved. Fear of being alone. Strength to push past fear.

Adrien watched as the two remained stock-still, Marinette's challenging blue eyes staring deep into Nino's brown ones. Alya was still grinning at her best friend's bravery, she could've been in Gryffindor just as easily as Ravenclaw. But the Sorting Hat decided to put her in Slytherin, so she was a Slytherin.

Nino blinked and clutched at his head as his spell faded, breaking out of the magic-induced trance. Marinette, too, blinked, but she just tilted her head.

"So? Tell me, Nino. You've seen into my mind, into my memories. Am I evil?" Her tranquil voice, ever so soft and sweet and showing no remorse or anger towards Nino.

Said Hufflepuff sighed. "Nope. You're as sweet as your parents baked goods. Sorry for accusing you like that." He rubbed the back of his neck while apologising, to Alya's victorious smirk.

Marinette broke out into a smile and waved off his apology. "Nah, don't worry about it. I know Hufflepuffs are dedicated. You wouldn't have dropped it until you saw proof."

Alya couldn't hold it in. "I was right!" She triumphantly crowed, pumping a fist in the air. "Who was right? It was me! The Ravenclaw was unsurprisingly right! Come on, admit it Nino. You were wrong, I was right, oh yeah!"

Nino folded his arms and grumbled. "I was wrong, you were right, congratulations, smart-arse, you can continue your smart-arse ways."

Marinette chuckled at his antics. "Anyway, I don't believe we actually properly introduced ourselves." She stuck a hand out for Nino then Adrien to shake. "I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Slytherin."

Nino took her hand. "Nino. Hufflepuff."

Adrien eyed her hesitantly before taking her hand and shaking it firmly. "I'm Adrien Agreste. Gryffindor." He offered his hand to Alya.

"And I'm Alya, Ravenclaw." She grinned as she shook the blond's hand. "We're all in different common rooms, what fun!"

Marinette groaned. "At least you're not stuck with Chloe." The two girls shuddered and giggled. Adrien's brow furrowed.

"Chloe Bourgeois? She's in Slytherin?" He questioned, turning Marinette's gaze back on him.

(A/N BOURGEOIS IS A WORD A REAL WORD HERE'S THE DEFINITION

belonging to or characteristic of the middle class, typically with reference to its perceived materialistic values or conventional (normal) attitudes.

IT DOESN'T DESCRIBE HER AT ALL BUT OML EVEN CHLOE'S NAME IS A PUN)

"Yeah. And while I'm not evil, she might as well be. Spoiled, whiny and greedy, and that's being nice." She ticked traits off her fingers. "And I've got Lila the professional liar in Slytherin too." At Nino, Adrien and Alya's confused looks, she sighed. "She was going around the dorm yesterday proclaiming how she was best friends with the witch Ladybug, which I know she's not."

Alya's eyes lit up and her face split into a huge grin. "Oh yeah! I can't believe I almost forgot!" Alya turned to the still confused boys. "You guys know about Ladybug, young witch prodigy? She competed in last year's games, and won by a landslide, but didn't want to reveal who she was?" Adrien and Nino nodded curiously. "Well, guess who Marinette is?"

Nino's jaw dropped as Adrien's eyes went wide. "No way! How did you even hide that when I searched your mind?"

Marinette rolled her eyes for the second time that day. "You saw a mask, didn't you? And a trophy? I didn't hide that, you're just unobservant." She grinned at their gobsmacked expressions. "Close your mouths, you'll catch flies."

At that moment, a blond girl came charging into the courtyard where they were talking. "ADRIKINS!!!"

Adrien groaned. "Merlin's beard, help me." He smiled very falsely as the owner of the screechy voice attached herself to him. "Heeeey Chloe."

Marinette didn't hide her snort of distaste as she tried to kiss the uncomfortable boy. He glanced at her and mouthed a 'Help me'. She giggled quietly and whispered a spell, pointing her wand at Chloe. "Aguamenti."

A burst of water drenched the girl head to foot. She shrieked in horror and immediately turned this way and that, trying to find the culprit. However, Marinette had also cast a spell to make herself and Alya blend in with their surroundings, causing Chloe's dull blue eyes to dart right over them and not notice.

It wasn't a difficult spell, just a little complicated, as it involved blending objects and people into the background, like a shadow or someone far away, and it also required the stillness of the person or object affected. It also didn't work on experienced witches and wizards, sorry to say, as they trained to be able to see through such a spell. Sadly, Marinette would not be sneaking around in the corridors any time soon, unless she somehow got an invisibility cloak.

Chloe stormed off finally, letting Marinette end her spell. The two girls fist bumped as they watched Chloe fume.

"Pound it!" They chimed simultaneously, earning curious looks from the boys.

"Well boys," Alya began, tapping Nino's nose with her wand.

"We've got a Defense Against The Dark Arts class to get to." Marinette finished with a smile, looping her arm through Alya's. "Catch ya later!" She waved as the two of them walked to a classroom.

Adrien and Nino both sighed. They glanced at each other before identical grins formed on their faces. "To unfortunate crushes, dude." Nino held out a fist, which Adrien met with a fist of his own.

"To unfortunate crushes."

Adrien and Nino both got to know the two girls very easily during lunch the day after, catching Alya tugging at Marinette's sweater while she peaked around a doorway. They heard alarmed whispers and hushed giggles, and eventually they saw what was going on. Marinette was looking into a shed where the school gardener was, and had her wand out, readying herself.

As they neared, they picked out their conversation. "Marinette, come on, you'll get caught! Chances are of 76% probability!" Alya whispered in a panicked state of tone. Marinette only shushed her.

"Shut up, Alya, you'll blow my cover." She whispered just as quietly, eyes still on the teacher. "That still means a 24% chance I won't get caught and we'll be home free, right? Anyway, I'm just trying to fix Chloe's meddling, what's wrong with that? She switched our papers! I'm not going to let her go with my hard-earned grade." She waved her wand and even more quietly whispered a complicated spell, self-taught and kind of self-invented, to switch the names of two papers she'd found. Once done and the glow of magic dispersed, Marinette grabbed Alya's sleeve and the two of them darted away, running behind a building.

Leaning against the wall, the two girls slid down to sit, panting. Marinette looked around the edge of the wall and back, letting out a laugh and a whoop.

Alya still stared incredulously at the sky. "She did it. She actually did it." The brunette placed her hands over her eyes. "Defied the odds... Only she could, damn girl..."

Marinette was laughing now, fully appreciating the fact that she did it. She did it, Alya was wrong, she didn't get caught, and she'd get payback on Chloe AND she'd pay off her all-night study session last night! A very good day, in her opinion.

Nino and Adrien rounded the corner to see Marinette laughing and pulling her friend up, saying something about grades and pulling an all-nighter. The bubbly Slytherin caught her two new friend's gazes with a sly grin and winked at them.

"I'll tell all later, just as long as you don't tell Chloe."

After that night, Adrien discovered more to his first impression of a sweet girl. She was witty, rather cunning, sly, ambitious, extremely resourceful, all the characteristics of a full-blown Slytherin yet she was still brave, kind, loyal, determined, and understanding. If he were being honest, it only made him love her more.

As the years went by, four kids in all four different houses remained close friends. They visited each other during months at home, all of them adoring Marinette and her family's cooking, met outside classes, sometimes snuck out to sit on the roof of the school and chat. Adrien and Nino fell harder for the two girls, and Marinette and Alya had developed small (big) crushes on the guys. However, neither pairs saw the obvious mutual crushing, so everyone remained annoyingly oblivious.

Marinette and Adrien now shared a Defense Against The Dark Arts class as well as Potions. Adrien had to admit, Marinette's comical failures paired with her unrelenting cheerful and determined attitude towards Potions was adorable. And Marinette thought Adrien's patronus, a cat which he decided to call Plagg, was the cutest thing on Earth.

Practicing their patronus charms in the huge classroom, both Adrien and Marinette focused on their favourite memories.

Big blue eyes gazing up at the night sky, stars reflected in the cerulean orbs. A gasp of awe as he extinguished his wand's light, giggling as he talked of his best friend's love-sickness. A head resting on his shoulder with a content sigh, murmuring a soft 'thank you.' Tucking the sleeping figure into her bed before leaving with a warm feeling in his heart.

A soft crunch in the forest of a branch breaking under a weight, halting her and him. A majestic creature coming into view, white as snow, horn sparkling in the dappled sunlight. Hooves slowly moving towards them. A quiet laugh escaping her lips as she pet the unicorn. A louder laugh escaping her lips as it headbutted him gently. His loving gaze directed at her. Her heart beating wildly after bidding goodbye to the magical animal.

"Expecto Patronum." The two of them whispered.

A cat of whirling white magic bounded through the air, eventually rubbing against Marinette's face, making a giggle bubble through her perfectly pink lips. Adrien's patronus, Plagg. Marinette's patronus, a fox, leaped around Adrien and brushed his face with its tail, earning a giggle from her. He scowled playfully, which fell away into a laugh as she stuck her tongue out childishly.

The rest of the class stared at the two who had easily mastered their patronus charms within two lessons. The teacher clapped, congratulating them before going back to helping other students. The two grinned at each other and ended their charms, letting the magic fade away into glowing white wisps.

It was then Marinette spotted a flower in a vase. It was also in her knowledge that their laid-back teacher was had very bad hay fever. Even now, her nose was red and stuffy.

"Wingardium leviosa." She whispered, angling her wand at the flower. She lifted it up, carefully avoiding glances, and gently maneuvered it right above the older woman's head...

Dropping it right into her hands.

The teacher sniffed once in surprise, before a huge round of sneezing came on. Startled, she threw the flower away and continued to sneeze. She sighed and sneezed again. "I'll be going to get some tissues. Continue with your, achoo, charms."

Adrien turned to Marinette and folded his arms. Marinette held her hands behind her back innocently, whistling a random tune with nothing but the opposite of mischief in her bluebell eyes. He raised an eyebrow. She glanced at him and struggled to hold in a laugh. Eventually she gave up and giggled.

"Okay, but you have to admit, it was kinda funny." She pointed out, twirling her wand in her fingers. Adrien sighed and shook his head, chuckling.

"It was, but did you really have to do that?" He approached her and placed his hands on his hips. Marinette blushed slightly and avoided his eyes by studying other student's attempts at the charms.

She knew he was extremely handsome. His chiseled face could rival the paintings of gods from long ago, his enticing emerald eyes swirling with emotion that were as effective a lure as any amount of gems in the world. She knew his tall frame filled out all his shirts and she knew she could see his muscles through his tight shirts. She knew he was the most sought-after male in their year group, possibly the school. She dealt with fangirls on a daily basis, she dealt with his unbearable charm on a daily basis. She could handle him any day.

But when she forced herself to meet his eyes, the sparkling green lured her in and she didn't want to be set free.

He knew she was amazingly beautiful. Her soft features accentuated by an almost constant light pink blush could be mistaken for a goddess, her mysteriously tranquil sapphire eyes deep enough to drown many a man in their undeniable depths. He knew her petit body was small enough to fit closely next to anything. He knew she was the most longed for female in their year group, if not, the school. He protected her from suitors left and right, he dealt with them all the time. He dealt with her terrible proximity, and her alluring seductiveness all the time. He could handle her every day.

But when her eyes hesitantly met his, that deep, deep blue drowned him and he found himself never wanting to breathe again.

Neither of them noticed them inching closer, but both were shocked out of the trance when the teacher came back into the room. Both blushed heavily and avoided each other's gaze for the rest of the lesson.

Alya was the first to notice the awkwardness when they met with her again. Instantly, that familiar mischievous sparkle entered her eyes. Alya pulled Nino aside with a huge grin on her face and left the two with no more than a wink.

Nino stared at her for a moment. "Much as I enjoy being taken away by a pretty lady, why am I being taken away?"

Alya darted behind a wall and placed a finger on his lips. "Shh, they're so close." Before Nino could make a confused objection, she interrupted him. "Come on, Adrien, you're the brave one, make a move!"

Adrien watched the two brunette's leave with an amused smile on his face, before turning back to his midnight-haired friend and noticing the uncomfortable atmosphere. She glanced at him, noting the tenseness in his smile, and sighed. "Look, about what happened back there-"

"Do you want to finish what we started?"

She blinked rapidly and stared up at him with wide eyes, shock and surprise opening her pink lips into a small 'o'. That sweet, charming smile rested on his face, eyes glittering with nervousness and hope. Her heart sped up rapidly as a shy smile curled on her face, pulling him down by the collar to meet him in the middle, grinning at the sound of his muffled gasp.

From practically 20 metres away, Alya squealed loudly and pumped her fist in the air. "Adrienette is a go! Yes!"

Nino smirked. "There's just one more ship that needs to sail." And he pulled Alya into a kiss, earning a surprised squeak before she wound her arms around his neck and escalated their kiss quickly.

A random girl with brown hair and brown eyes stood to the side, watching it all go down with a huge, Cheshire-cat grin on her face. "I don't care, I ship it!" She yelled out before disappearing, leaving behind only a single white butterfly fluttering towards the heavens...

I'm just gonna make me a reoccurring character, to add humour. Maybe make an origins of the goddess or whatever. Or not, 'cause that would be self-centered.... Meh. DID YOU LIKE THE HOGWARTS AU THO I really liked writing it, mischievous Mari is best
