Azura and Hatori had just finished a meeting with the doctor who would perform the surgery on her. Hatori was confused about most of the procedure while Azura simply looked at ease with the way he explained things. The two made their way over towards the elevator, shuffling and pacing on the multi colored tile. Hatori shuffled his feet and stuffed his hands in his pockets. He was really quiet. Too quiet.......
"You're really quiet Hatori. You ok?" Azura said as they took the elevator downward.
"Hmm. Yeah. Fine." Hatori said snapping out of his thoughts.
Hatori simply thought about Azura. He has grown accustomed to taking care of her every need. He would pamper her, but he loved doing it. They were so many things that could go wrong he thought. A heart surgery is a complicated one. You need a heart to live. One mistake could cost you a life. He wasn't so sure that Azura's decision was the right one...
Azura could read him as easy as she could read books. She knew Hatori well, like the back of her hand. His face wasn't connecting to what he was saying. His face was more thought provoking, as if he was in the mental state of thinking through variables all at once. He said he was fine, but he's overthinking things.
"You're worried. Aren't you?" Azura said.
Hatori didn't want to lie. He wasn't that kind of a person. Being the honest cheeky soul he was, he simply spatted the main idea of his thoughts.
"I didn't understand a thing Azura. Are you sure you want to do this?" Hatori muttered.
He heard so many medical terms that gave him migraines. His stomach turned into knots whenever he heard something negative about the procedure. Azura however picked everything up like a sponge. Being in the hospital so many times and hours made her pick up a few medical sayings. Terminology was complicated and Hatori just felt lost.
"I'm sure. I need to feel my heart again. I want to be human again. Not an Android." Azura said.
Not being to whelm herself was staying mute, unsteady and inconstant. Quiet, reserved and hidden. Emotions sunk to the bottom of her soul into a deep abyss that closed off the more time passed by. Day by day, she grew weary and emotionless although she was always a tsundere at heart. On that side of the matter Hatori did not understand, but he didn't want any harm to come to Azura even f it meant taking care of her until he could no longer do so.
"What will I do if something goes wrong?"
Blood clotting, heart failure, loss of breath, death.... Hatori did not want that decision to be an "I told you so" resulting in a funeral. It was just too much to risk.
"Have faith Hatori. I'll be fine. This is my choice. "
Hatori stuffed his hands in his pockets before sighing. There was no getting out of this one... Azura was confident about her decision although Hatori was the complete opposite.
"What will I do while your in the hospital?" Hatori said, "I'll be so bored."
Hatori tried tempting her out subtly but it didn't work.
Azura smiled, "Occupy yourself. The time will fly when you occupy yourself. "
Hatori glared, "You're not helping."
Curse her positive attitude. Hatori crossed his arms before exiting the building. Azura simply continued walking down the street, innocent as always.
"Look Hatori there's a farmers market." Azura pointed towards the genders and their little mobile shops set up along the street.
Azura simply walked towards it being attracted to many little Knick knacks being sold. Hatori watched as Azura made stops even few feet.
Hatori huffed, "Women...."
Azura pointed towards a Captain Marvel plushie. She held it before showing it to Hatori.
"Like hell I'm gonna quit! Have faith cadet." Azura imitated her voice, aspiring to be gutsy and sassy.
Hatori's cheeks slightly turned pink before saying, "Azura....not in public...."
Azura laughed, "What's wrong cadet?"
Hatori glared, "You know what. Don't even go there."
"Drop down and give me 20 cadet!"
Hatori sighed before saying, "Har har har. That's a very flattering impression of Carol but she doesn't sound quite the way you act her to be."
Azura sighed, "That's the last giant plushie. Oh well."
Azura innocently walked to the next gender along with Hatori who took three steps before turning around and purchasing the plushie. Azura hid her giggles before Hatori rolled his eyes, "Snips...."
"You still like Carol." Azura smirked.
Hatori rolled his eyes. Yes she was a fictional character and yes she wasn't real but Hatori still hadn't grown up to the point of saying goodbye to Carol. Azura from time to time teased him about it causing Hatori to blush from time to time.
"At least your cheeks are still functioning Hatori." Azura teased
Hatori lightly elbowed her as she snickered maliciously, "Yeah Yeah, whatever Azura. It's not like you've stopped liking Nightwing."
Azura replied, "Hatori Nightwing is a classic. Only a true DC fan would admire such a character."
Hatori rolled his eyes, "Uh huh."
They continued strolling around the market seeing new things and old things, some antique and some modern.
Hatori directed his attention towards a stand of music playing. He knew this music. It was a classic. Hatori took her hand before saying, "Look Azu-zu chan!!! Swing dancing!"
Azura sighed, "Hatori you have an ear for music."
Hatori grabbed his cousin as if she were a rag doll. Azura simply felt dizzy after the twists and turns Hatori took her throughout the dance. Her face simply dropped from happy to queasy.
"Stop turning me..." Azura mumbled as Hatori noticed how green she looked.
Hatori let her go immediately, "Sorry Azura..."
Azura wobbled to a bench before sitting down.
"You really did it this time..." Azura mumbled half dazed.
Hatori sat down before nervously chuckling, "My bad."
Once Azura had finally regained her balance, she and Hatori made their way towards the other side of town.
"Look Hatori! Cherry Blossoms!" Azura said as she reached for one of the petals.
"Now that's something you don't see everyday." Hatori replied.
Azura nodded, "Yes conclusively speaking. It's a rather beautiful specimen. It's petals are beautifully designed and perfectly soft. "
Hatori and Azura took pictures underneath the tree savoring the presence of it's radiant glow and dainty flowers. They watched the sunset from that very spot. The sunset was behind the cherry blossom as if it was bowing to it. Japan really had quite the scenery. The day went by fast however as they passed by a darker unlit alleyway, a hand came out and suddenly snatched Azura's bag.
"Hey! Come back with my bag." Azura said as they both began to chase the thief.
Azura became tired and exhausted quickly, her heart wasn't used to such a workout.
"I'll get it. Just stay here. You can't run." Hatori said as he sprinted towards the thief.
Azura sighed and she realized that she could cut the thief off at the other side if she sprinted through the alleyway. Azura disregarded Hatori's instructions. The bag contained valuables that couldn't be replaced.... She took a step before sprinting into the alleyway. Her chest burned and ached the more she sprinted. She pushed herself way too far and way too hard. She shouted as she stumbled. Her heart was about to explode. Then she saw him passing through the alleyway and jumped to meet him, tackling him to the ground. Hatori looked at Azura as she snatched her bag back.
Redemption had been served.
"Azura.. are you ok?" Hatori said concerned for her health.
"Fine Hatori." Azura mumbled as she grasped her chest.
"You ran didn't you? I told you not too." Hatori stated.
"I'm fine. Let's go home. I need to rest." Azura said gasping for air.
The man ran away once Hatori told him he would call the police. He was just a thug looking for an easy target... She got up and made it a few steps before falling on to her knees. She breathed heavily. It was almost as if she couldn't breathe. She held her chest as she tried standing up but she couldn't. She wobbled onto her feet once more before Hatori witnessed her go down. He caught her in his arms. Her face became pale, lips were purple.
"Azura!!! Wake up!" Hatori lightly patted her cheek.
They weren't rosy anymore. Hatori tried to feel a pulse only feeling a faint one. Her heart was barely pumping blood and oxygen to her system. It could barely keep up with any stimulus. All this time her heart had been wanting to catch up and now it couldn't. It was seconds behind. Hatori held her tightly before calling the emergency phone number for the hospital. Her breathing rate was slowly declining before she puffed her last breath. Hatori immediately began compressions.
"1...2...3..."
