My name is Vince. Vince Lloyd. I live in a small town called Central Cove. I've always loved the ocean. Living by it while also living in and co-running a nautical museum that belongs to my family helps my love for the ocean but there was still something missing from it. I'd been swimming in the ocean before. Hell i'd been skinny dipping in the ocean before. Don't tell my brother that though. He'd kill me. Anyway there'd always been something missing from my love of the ocean. So when I got a mysterious email from a company called 'Corporate' saying that they could help me if I applied to be one of their subjects for their newest project called 'The Mermaid Project' I felt like I finally knew what was missing. I wasn't completely one with the ocean. I filled out the application and the next day I left to the address they gave me telling my brother Jude that I was going to a friend's place. After our parents went on a business trip Jude-who's older than me by three years-became extra protective and bossy when it comes to me. So he would never approve of me being a part of the project. But I didn't care. This was my chance. 

I finished the experimentation not feeling much different. The people from Corporate told me to take off my clothes which weirded me out but they said it would help prove if the experimentation worked. I did as they asked and saw that I wasn't exposed whatsoever. There was a patch of blue scales covering me like they were natural shorts. The Corporate guys brought me to a pool and put some device on my wrist. They called it a Monitor that would make me immune to an immense amount of pain that would occur when I transformed. I dived into the water and my legs began to fuse and were covered with the same scales that appeared after the experimentation. Then my legs were completely replaced with a blue fish tail. The experimentation worked. I was a mermaid now. But how would I explain this to Jude. After getting out of the pool my tail turned back into my legs. I dried off and put my clothes back on.

I went back home to Jude and immediately just went up to my room. I didn't know if I should have told him about where I really was. Oh God.
