"Logan! What did you do?"

Ella, Iris's friend from earlier, comes rushing with worry and anger. Her emotions get heightened at seeing her unconscious friend.

"It wasn't me, it was this dude, right here."

He motions towards the injured man standing not too far from them, holding a metal pipe, while using his other hand he puts the USB that he took from Iris into his pocket.

"Here, hold her."

The guy, whom Ella referred to as Logan, puts Iris's arm around Ella, while Ella checks to see if she's bleeding or not. She sighs due to relief after finding out that she wasn't.

On the other hand, Logan picks up the knife from the ground, belonging to that man from earlier and throws it straight at the man. The knife hits directly at the man's forehead, killing him on the spot.

"What do we do now?"

Ella agonised, looking at the passed out Iris.

"Let's just take her back to her house, we sneak in, put her on her bed and when she wakes up, she will think it's all a dream."

Logan suggested, while checking to see if the rest of the guys were breathing or not, if they were not, he would then choke them till they died.

"Good plan.....but she recognised me. Iris wouldn't let this go. She's not stupid, she will keep asking me about it."

Ella gave a nervous smile which was more a response due to tension. Six months ago, Ella joined the company and there was a special rule for her that was Iris must never know that she belonged to The Mercurial. Because the reason she got hired in the first place was to make sure, her friend was safe. She was like a body-guard to her non-biological sister. She didn't know much except that some bad people might come after her because of Iris's dad, whom Ella thought was a simple, common police officer. She wanted to know more, but they wouldn't tell her anything. 

Yes, she was one of The Mercurial. The world-wide recognised company known for helping and doing whatever you asked for, responsible for all the peace or so they say.

"You didn't hide your identity. Lucy is gonna be mad...."

Logan smirked, emphasising on the word mad, although his eyes could not be seen behind the dark shades but Ella knew that there was the hint of playfulness in them. She knew he was trying to scare her by using their boss's name, but what was worse is that, it was having an effect on her. She became terrified. It had only been six months since she joined and as far as she had heard, Lucy will kill any person who disobeys her rule. Although this information was given to her by Logan, so she still had her doubts about whether it was true or not.

"Help me then!"

"Just lie to her if she asks, how hard is that?"

He shrugged and spoke in a tone that felt like he didn't really care, while dragging the dead bodies at one corner.

"You know, I am terrible at lying and Iris is pretty clever, she can easily detect when someone is lying. She's not someone whom you can lie to."

Ella explained, terror overtook her face, along with sadness clouded her features when she thought about all the bad things that could happen if someone were to know about this

"Relax, you're being way too tensed...it's not a big deal. If it consoles you any better, we can take her back to the safe house and then you'll see that it's not a big problem. Plus, if you don't want to lie then just tell her the truth."

Logan replied with calmness, taking off his black gloves, he was wearing from the start.

"How are you so calm? We all will be dead if things go south. Taking her back to the safe house where there is Lucy, is like taking the prey back to the predator! It's dangerous! How do you know nothing wrong will happen? And I can't tell her the truth, she will hate me for keeping a secret from her."

"You'll see. Besides she's not gonna hate you. If you tell her the truth, I'm sure she will understand. Because she seemed to trust you before and whatever you told her without freaking out. Now, come on, let's go. We can't keep standing here for long. Luke said that he is having difficulty keeping the area clear."

Ella thought for a second and then said,

"Fine. Help me carry her."

"Step aside..."

Logan responded, Ella moves to the side and he hold Iris in a princess-carry, without an effort.

They all start walking through the streets.

"Why did you say that Lucy wouldn't say anything?"

After a long silence, Ella broke it by inquiring

"I never said that she wouldn't say anything, she definitely would but it would not be as bad as you seem to think."

He remarked without glancing at her and just moving forward.

Iris feels her head throbbing, when her conscience slowly decides to come back. Her eyes flutter, her blurry vision slowly starts to become clear. After blinking three to four times and wailing, she sits up suddenly and finds herself in a modern, yet plain bedroom. A simple bed with side tables, lamps, closet, desk and a chair. There was only one door which is an access to go in or out.

Iris quickly gets out of bed, while the events of earlier flashes through her mind. She runs towards the door and soon as she is about to open the door, the handle turns and in comes Ella, followed by Logan, who was not wearing glasses nor the cap and his deep black eyes could be now seen, and another guy with short brown hair.

"Iris, thank god, you're awake!"

Ella beamed with joy, excitedly hugged Iris.

"What's going on? Who are these two? And what was with all that USB and those guys following?"

Iris went straight to the point and started asking various questions.

"Well, this is Logan, the one who helped you....and that's Luke."

Ella pointed at the two men who nodded and gave a slight smile in return. Upon hearing Logan's name, recognition dawned on her face. She was getting strong sense of déjà vu. She gets the feeling of familiarity like she had known him for a long time. But it was not true, because she knew this for sure that she had never seen this guy before. But just to confirm her suspicions, she inquires, looking at Logan,

"Do I know you from somewhere?"

Logan's eyes widened for a split second but returned to normal and he finally responded after a slight pause,

"...no, this is the first time we have met."

Iris hums in disbelief. She still can't shake the feeling.

At that moment, a woman comes inside, talking loudly,

"Hey guys, what's going on here?"

Recognition dawned on both the woman's and Iris's faces, their eyes go round with surprise. After which, the woman starts smiling politely but Iris's expression hardens, her face becomes serious.

"Lucy."

Iris utters one word to break the tension and silence in the room, it was the name of the woman now standing in front of her smiling.
