Lisa's P.O.V.
When Thomas returned we had fallen silent once again. Minho didn't seem all that happy to see Thomas. 'So what did that shuck traitor have to say?' He said with an angry frown on his face.
Thomas sat down beside him.
'Well?' Minho pushed.
'She said the reason they escaped was because they found out Wicked plans to start all over again if they have to. That they were rounding up Immunes, just like Gally told us. She swears that somehow they were led to believe that we'd already broken out, and they were looking for us,' Thomas paused and took a deep breath. 'And she'd help us if she can.'
Minho shook his head. 'You're a slinthead. Haven't you heard a shuck thing of what Lisa just said? You shouldn't have talked to her.'
'Thanks,' Thomas responded, rubbing his eyes.
'Hate to barge in here, muchachos,' Jorge said. 'You can talk all day about this crap but it means nothing unless we can get ourselves out of this nice little place. No matter who's on whose side.'
I took a deep breath and was about to say something in return when suddenly the door opened and three of our abductors walked in. They all carried bags that seemed to be completely stuffed full. A fourth man followed with a Launcher in his hands. He swept through the room, scanning for trouble and while he did the others started handing out water bottles and bread from the bags.
'How do we always get into these messes?' Minho asked. 'At least we used to be able to blame everything on Wicked.'
'Yeah, well, we still can,' I muttered.
Minho looked at me for a second, then grinned, sending a wave of butterflies through my stomach. 'Good. Those shuck-faces.'
I gave him a small smile but he had already turned away, *nudging* Thomas. 'Only one of them has a weapon,' he whispered. 'And he doesn't look so bad. I bet I could take him.'
'Maybe,' Thomas answered under his breath. 'But don't do anything stupid, he's got a gun as well as a Launcher. And trust me, you don't want to get shot by either of them.'
'Yeah, well,' Minho said. 'Trust me this time.'
Minho gave Thomas a wink to which Thomas could only sigh.
'Are you crazy?' Dawn muttered at the Asian boy but he merely shrugged.
Sharing a glare with my little sister, I knew there was nothing we could do to change his mind.
The kidnappers approached us and started handing out bread and water in silence.
I took it without looking at the man his face but Minho pushed it away.
'Why would I take anything from you? It's probably poisened,' he snapped and I almost rolled my eyes at his childish behaviour.
'You wanna go hungry, fine by me,' the man replied, moving on.
He had nearly passed when Minho suddenly jumped up and tackled the man holding the Launcher. The weapon fell to the ground and discharged, sending a grenade to the ceiling and back to the ground.
The kidnapper was still on the ground when Minho started punching him, struggling to grab the man's pistol with his free hand.
For a long second the whole room froze but then movement exploded all at once.
The three other guards dropped their bags and made their way towards us.
I jumped up quickly and hit one of the men in his knees, forcing him down on the ground but as he fell he took my arm, pulling me with him. A startled gasp left my lips as I fell *ontop* of him. However instead of being punched like I had expected I felt my *opponent* tense up. My name left his lips in a whisper and my heart started beating faster in my chest I opened my eyes, searching for his face. My entire body seemed to lock down as all my thoughts were thrown around in my head.Memories floaded through my mind as I stared into those eyes.
The first guy who had willingly volunteerd to join the Right Arm. The guy who I had made second in command. Long phone calls and hours of talking and dreaming about a perfect world. A man who I trusted and was ripped out of my life before I could figure out what was going on between us.
'Carter?' I breathed.
But before he could respond I was pulled off of him. Three people dragged him away from me, throwing him against the wall.
I stood up quickly, my head spinning from the sudden familiar face that had been pushed into my view.
The resistance had been short lifted. We had taken the guards by surprise and now we had them all before us on the ground, unarmed.
Brenda held the Launcher in her hand and Minho the gun.
All my attention was focused on Carter as I watched him being put besides the other guards.
He stared back at me with wide eyes and I could tell he was just as startled as I was.
'We have to get them to talk,' Thomas said, making me turn to him. 'We have to hurry before backup comes.'
'We should just them in the head!' a man called out, followed by shouts of agreement.
Thomas ignored the shouts and walked forwards, taking the gun from Minho. He kneeled down besides Carter and put the gun to his head.
I was about to run forwards but stopped myself at the very last second. He did kidnap us, maybe I should just hear him out.
'I'm going to count to three,' Thomas growled. 'You either start telling what Wicked plans to do with us and where you're going to meet them or I'll pull the trigger. One.'
Carter didn't hesitate. 'Wicked? We got nothing to do with Wicked.' He stared at me, his eyes burning in my soul. He wasn't lying, he had never been very good at it anyway.
'You're lying. Two.'
'No, I swear! This has nothing to do with them! At least as far as I know.'
'Oh really? Then you want to explain why you're out kidnapping a bunch of immune people?' Thomas asked him, venom at the edge of his voice.
Carter was still staring straight at me and finally people started to notice.
Minho turned to me with his eyebrows raised but I could only stare at the man who I believed to be dead.
'We work for the Right Arm,' Carter finally spoke.
I let out a shaky breath, not sure what to feel. Relieved that he still worked for the organisation that had become our dream or angry because he had still kidnapped us. It was a mess in my head and I hated myself for freezing up like this.
'What do you mean you work for the Right Arm?' Thomas asked.
'What do you mean what do I mean?' Carter asked, finally turning his gaze to Thomas.
I felt a weird desire to laugh. His way of speaking hadn't changed one bit. 'I work for the freaking Right Arm. Why's that so hard to understand?'
Thomas pulled the gun away and sat back, confusion written on his face. 'Then why would you be out capturing Immunes?' He asked.
'Because we want to,' the boy from my past replied, his eyes now glued to the lowered gun. 'You ain't got no business knowin' nothing else.'
'Shoot him and move on to the next one!' Someone behind me called.
'Stop!' I screamed before anyone could respond to that. Everyone turned to me once again but I had only eyes for Carter who was staring right at me, his face unreadable.
Slowly I walked forwards and stopped only a few inches away from him. 'He'll talk to me,' I mumbled.
Thomas stared at me, a puzzled look on his face but then he stood up and handed me the gun.
I didn't kneel down by his side. I stood, towering above him and pointed the gun at his head. 'You're awfully brave considering you have a gun pointed at your shuck head,' I spoke, my voice cold and calm.
It was harder than I thought it would be, to try and keep any emotion from leaking out.
'Tell me why the Right Arm would want Immunes or I'll just have to assume you're lying,' I snapped, a sudden anger burning in my stomach. I never created the Right Arm for them to start kidnapping innocent people. Carter knew that like no other.
'You know I ain't lying,' he spoke, putting a stress on every word as if that would convince me to trust him.
Instead I turned off the safety of the gun.
'You ain't gonna kill me. You were never able to kill someone,' Carter whispered.
'Well, maybe I've changed!' I suddenly yelled.
Thomas stepped forwards and put his hand on my shoulder.
I looked at him and immediately felt the anger leave my body. Slowly I lowered the gun. I didn't understand why seeing him made me so upset.
Thomas nodded at me before turning back to Carter. 'If you work for the Right Arm, then we're suppose to be on the same side. Just tell us what's going on,' Thomas said.
Carter sat up, followed by the rest of the guards, even the bloody-faced man Minho had punched. 'If you want answers,' he said, 'then you'll have to ask the boss. We serieusly don't know anything.'
'Yeah,' answered another guard. 'We're nobodies.'
Brenda stepped closer with her Launcher. 'And how do we get to this boss of yours?'
The guard shrugged. 'I have no idea.'
Minho groaned and snatched the gun from my hands before I could even blink. 'I've got enough of this klunk.' He pointed the weapon at a guard his foot. 'Fine, we won't kill you, but your toe's gonna be smarting something real awful in three seconds if you don't start talking. One.'
'I'm telling you, we don't know nothin',' the guy yelled, his face pinched with anger.
'Fine,' Minho replied and pulled the trigger.
I winced the bullet hit the man in his foot, a scream leaving his lips. Minho had shot him right in the pinkie toe, his toe and shoe completely gone, replaced by a bleeding wound.
'How could you do that?' A guard screamed and pulled a few napkins out of his pocket and pressed them against the wound.
Carter stared with wide eyes at me but I didn't budge. The me he had known was long gone. And if this was the only way to get answers then fine, so be it.
Minho kept at it. 'Okay, while he's working on that poor foot of his, someone better start talking. Tell us what's going on or we're going to lose another toe.' He waved the pistol at the other guards. 'Why are you kidnapping people for the Right Arm?'
'We told you we don't know anything,' Carter snapped. 'They pay us and we do what they ask.'
'Are you?' Minho asked, pointing the gun at another guard. 'You wanna say something? Save a toe or two?'
The guard held up his hands. 'I swear on the life of my mom I don't know anything. But...' he seemed to regret that last part immediately. His gaze shot to Carter and the others and his face paled.
'But what?' I spoke, my voice cold as ice, which seemed to have a lot more effect than Minho's screaming.
'Nothing,' the guard spoke, but his voice was trembling.
'Do we really need to keep playing this game?' Minho moved the gun to the man his hand. 'I'm done counting.'
'Stop!' The guard yelled. 'Okay, listen. We could take a couple of you back with us to ask them yourselves. I don't know if they'll let you talk to the one in charge, but they might. I'm not getting my toe shot off for no good reason.'
'Trust me, they'll want to talk to me,' I hissed at the guard and I could feel Carter his eyes burning in my head. I ignored him.
'All right, then,' Minho said, gesturing for the guy to stand up. 'See, that wasn't so bad. Let's go visit this boss of yours. Me, you and my friends.'
The room erupted into a chorus of voices. Everyone wanted to come and no one was going to be quiet about it.
Then Carter stood up and screamed for everyone to shut up. The crowd went silent and I raised my eyebrows. 'You people are a lot safer here! Trust me, the world out there is not the same anymore. If we all went out there I can guarantee half of us wouldn't come back. These guys want to see the boss, then let them risk their necks. A gun and a Launcher aren't going to do one bit of good out there. But in here we have a locked door and no windows.'
He still had the "talking-gift" as I used to call it. He could sell anything to anyone and they would believe it.
The room didn't erupt in voices again when he was done talking. He nodded and turned to us. 'Listen, it's dangerous out there. I wouldn't take more than a couple of people. The more you have, the more likely we won't make it,' he paused and scanned the room. 'And I'd go soon if I were you. From the looks of it these people won't stay quiet for long.'
I walked forwards and narrowed at him. 'That isn't the only reason is it?'
Carter turned to me, his eyes awaking a thousand hidden emotions inside of me. Emotions that I'd rather see dead. 'There are Cranks everywhere. They're killing everything that moves.'

Oh no...Lisa met a familiar face! What do you guys think about Carter so far? Is he really getting paid by the Right Arm to kidnap Immunes or is there something else going on?
Minho is going to have to hurry and tell her he kissed her or else Carter might just steal his woman.
