Chapter 7 : What Do You Have In Mind , Valt ?
Lui, Shu and Free had just returned from the cave housing the dragon. The road had been calm, no one dared to speak. Finally, especially Free. He kept thinking about what his friend had seen in the future. How could this future be so dire?
"Free, are you okay?" Shu asked. Red could see very clearly that his friend was in a trance and that means he was thinking about something important.
"Yeah yeah, I was just thinking." He looked out of the corner of his eye at the blue boy next to him. He noticed it and tilted his head and smiled at him. It was too hard for him that this boy would cause him problems.
"Come on, aren't you hungry?" Shu asked.
"I'm going to go hunting." Free said.
"Do you think there are humans still venturing out?"
Free shook his head. "No, I don't think so. I think they're scared more now."
Shu put his fingers on his chin. "The King must be very worried about his son's disappearance. Maybe he will come and pick him up. Or he must think he is dead."
"I don't know. I killed all the soldiers except him. There is no one who could have passed on information."
"They have to prepare something, don't you think?"
"No, humans are dumb." Free said, receiving a growl from Lui. He smiled, "That's right, let's see. Even you, my little one, you're not the smartest, only the most reckless."
Lui just gave him a "Tsk."
"Come on, I'm going to hunt game."
"Aren't you covering yourself up?"
"No need. There are no soldiers, no threats and if not, I'm calling you."
"OK," Shu said. "Are you coming, Lui? Have you ever eaten ***?"
They entered and went to the kitchen. Shu prepared everything, and Lui just watched.
At the Glace Palace
The King was going in circles and you could see that he was very worried. All the highest ranking officers were gathered. His advisor too, Valt had decided to come. "My son ... dead? He can't be dead ..."
Everyone smelled sad except Valt. Shu had communicated to him that Lui was alive but that Free had hurt him. For Valt, the main thing is that Lui is alive. He could blame Free a little for hurting Lui physically but he knew the blond didn't know how to take good care of someone, so he was just reassured that his friend was alive.
"How could this have happened ?!" cried the King, resting his elbows on the table. "There was the army, I even charged General Tarl to protect him and he died. Tarl is dead! So when is my son, eh ?!"
"Master." said a general, kneeling, "Let me bring the prince back among us. I'm sure I will be able to beat the monster."
"But if he's dead." Valt said. He didn't want more deaths. He didn't want any problems on either side.
"Do you hear ?" said another general. "We all have to hope he is alive."
"We haven't found his body. He may be alive."
"But maybe the monster devoured him raw."
Everyone started talking at the same time and it was a total mess. Then, the counselor tapped the cane on the ground to silence everyone. "Silence silence everyone. Listen to me." Everyone stopped and turned to the woman. "There is no reason for you to make such a racket. Talking will not change anything. I will take care of finding information about what happened. I have close contacts with some mages, I can myself find out what happened to our heir. "
"Do you really think so?" The Roy asked hopefully, just so the kingdom wouldn't think the heir is dead. "If you find something, will you tell us?"
The old woman nodded, "I have always served the crown. I will obey no matter what."
"Alright. We'll let you do that then." said the father of Lui.
Valt grew more serious about the counselor's words. If she found something and reported it to the king ... he didn't even want to think about it. The King is already so tough and sometimes mad, known for his steadfastness. It didn't hurt to kill someone like that. If he tried to kill Free, his friend. He had to avoid this.
The king ordered everyone to leave for the time being. The woman left for her rooms and Valt followed her. "Wait ma'am!"
The woman turned to the blue boy. "What is it, young boy?"
"What do you plan to do to find the prince?"
"I once practiced magic, I'm going to cast a spell."
"Isn't there a simpler process?"
"and what do you want me to do?"
"You like Sul. Don't do anything." Valt said. "I will take care of finding Lui, he is my friend and it is my duty to help him."
"And I'm the King's advisor, I've been helping the royal family forever so you're not going to stop me from accomplishing my mission."
"Unfortunately it is." Valt said, "I won't let you find him."
"Come on, my little one. What are you talking about? Don't you want me to find your friend?"
"No, because I know where he is."
The woman seemed curious. "Really? And where is he?"
"With the monster, far from any danger so I advise you not to go about their business."
"Safety with the monster. Don't be ridiculous my child, the prince must be in pain right now."
"Ma'am, I have a lot of respect for you, you know that. Just give me time, I'll bring it back myself."
"sorry kid but it's still no."
"So I'll take you there with me. We'll take him back together."
"I don't need your help."
"I know where the monster lives, I know everything. I'll take you to him and the prince, deal?"
"I don't believe you. You can't know him."
"He's my friend and I know him. You still know I never lie."
The old person looked into the blue boy's eyes. She knew the character of the young boy. She had known him before several times. Mainly because Valt stayed with Him often and the adviser watched the prince's actions when he was at the palace.
She closed her eyes, "Alright, Valt. I'm going to follow you but no sneaking, okay?"
Valt smirked, "Thanks!" He hugged her, "I knew you were better there!"
"Come on, boy. We should get ready for the road. Do you know where we're going?" She patted him on the back.
"Yes, I've been there several times before! I'll introduce you to my friends!"
The woman smiles sweetly at the boy in front of her. But she thought on the contrary, she would use the boy to find the prince and be rewarded by the King. She would also make sure to kill the monster and take Lui back to where he should be.
Valt, on the other hand, could sense the woman's bad intentions. But he pretended to be very nice. He would make sure to kill her later or ask Free to kill her. He just hopes that Lui won't oppose this idea.
The two were trying to manipulate the other even though Valt had won. Entering Free's territory is a big risk. He doesn't know the woman but he is a friend of Valt's. It means that Valt has the advantage, besides that Shu is there too.
When they were prepared, they left the palace, warning the King beforehand, of course.
The woman followed Valt with her eyes, so as not to lose him. They were mounted on horses. It was the fastest way back then. But when they entered the forest, the wind was cold.
Valt dismounted his horse, letting him do whatever he wanted. The woman imitated him. Both saw blood everywhere, the more they entered the forest. Red on white was a sign that the place belonged to someone.
"We have to keep going straight. We should come across the monster as well," Valt said.
"I want the prince to start, to find out if he's alive."
"He is. Patience."
"Hmm ..."
The two continued to walk. The two were watched by a person hidden in the shadows. "What do you have in mind, my dear friend?" asked a blond boy with a red streak, looking at Valt. "Hm ...?"
End of the chapter! Thanks for reading!
