Chapter 6 : The Cave Of Fafnir. Luinor's Awakening.
Lui was still asleep and lying on the bed. Free was watching him as he went through how to get the boy to accept it. He already knows that it's better if Lui sees his true face clearly since the mask and all, that can be suspicious. But afterwards, he doesn't know. He must find something.
When Shu told him about the king, he said he was hard to convince. He didn't trust the first comer like that. It had to be the same with his heir, that's what Free thought anyway.
Maybe he should hang out with him, or talk to him. But above all to put him at ease. Yeah, he doesn't know how to do it.
He took the enchanted knife in his hand and observed the blade. A long time ago, this same knife had reacted with her boyfriend. It was Silas Karlisle. He thought this boy was a trustworthy guy since the knife had chosen him but ... When he accompanied him to a place hidden from everyone, where his friend Fafnir lived. The creature killed and devoured him. Free was surprised, his friend told him that Silas was not a good person and that he should not have stayed with him.
Maybe he should take Lui near Fafnir. His dragon has always known how to find intruders.
He looked at the boy again after thinking and taking her hand to feel it.
His smell was not like the others. Not even like Silas. The green haired boy had attracted him with his courage to respond and his pride but after Fafnir explained to him. He understood his mistake. Silas was a traitor.
The flaming boy started to stir a bit, catching the blond's attention. He put his hand on Lui right cheek ( since he was on the left side of the bed.)
Lui opened his eyes slowly and saw the monster next to him and felt his hand on him. He blushed again at the contact.
Eye contact had been a long time for Lui. Free was just looking at him and it looked like he was trying to observe how he felt in the present moment and then.
"You are going to come with me somewhere today and I will watch you."
Lui knew his two hosts would be more wary since he had tried to run away. He lowered his head and replied, "Where are we going?"
"In one place. You don't need to know that."
"And what is this place for?" Lui asked raising an eyebrow, "What are you going to do?"
"Take you near a friend of mine."
"And what, is he going to kill me?"
Free did not answer. He knew there was a risk yes. But he felt and he wanted Him to stay alive. He doesn't know if his choice is still wrong like with Silas. "I cannot confirm such information to you."
Lui looked down at him, "So I'm going to die right?"
"Do not say that." Free said taking him in his arms. "Why would you do it? You're not bad."
"If I died, I would have wanted to say goodbye to my loved ones."
"You won't have the chance to see them before that."
"but when will I do it?"
"Just wait."
Lui nodded. They left the room and passed Shu.
"Where are you two going?"
"To the cave," Free replied.
Shu opened his eyes wide, "No! You can't take him there. You want him to die, eh? I've been tasked with protecting him, Valt confided in me so you're not gonna hurt him. . "
"Sooner or later my friend will have to examine it."
"A dragon, Free. A dragon! He's not going to refrain from devouring it raw." Shu said, not understanding what went through Free's mind. "I thought you wanted to keep him alive."
Lui, hearing this word, froze in place. Free's friend was a dragon. He is sure he will die now.
"I want his good but if he's like the other."
"He's not like Silas, Free. This little one isn't dangerous."
"If he magnetized the knife, that means he has something."
Shu sighed, "You are laughable, I am accompanying you."
"You know my friend doesn't love you."
That's the problem in their relationship. Fafnir doesn't like Shu because he (Fafnir) hates Spryzen.
"We don't care Free, I just want to make sure he's got nothing."
"Alright, but you don't want your mind to disturb things."
"What do you mean ?" Lui asked, drawing the attention of the other two. "Spirits?"
"Yes, in this place, everyone can awaken the spirit that is in them. Free did it but something else happened. His spirit became free while mine does not want to." Shu said. "The dragon, Fafnir, is the spirit of Free. He managed to escape their worlds and now remains hiding in a cave. Mine, Spryzen, was not so lucky. He can only appear in some magical places, which nourishes spirits with power. "
"And I have one too?" Asked the Glace Prince.
Shu nodded, "Yes, everyone has one. Every spirit has a different shape. Free, he's a dragon. Me, a-"
"A monster in the shape of a monkey." Free laughed.
"Don't laugh! I can't help it."
"But it's funny, come on."
He thought about how his mind could be. He assumes it would be in fresh blue tones.
"Okay, come on, let's not waste time." Free said.
The three walked towards the place. They saw a cave on top of a mountain. They went up and in to see only black. It reminded Him of the pit with the snakes to Him.
Free walked forward until the other two couldn't see him. "Go ahead, Lui. We'll see what fate has in store."
"But where's the way?"
Shu took his hand, "I'll take you there. Just hold my hand and you'll be fine."
Lui nodded. They descended the stairs until they found themselves in a room where crystals illuminated the place. There was a big hole in the side. Shu knew this was where the dragon slept.
They saw Free come out of there with a creature behind him. A golden, yellow dragon. Lui swallowed and Shu squeezed his hand more to reassure him. Free stopped and the dragon was beside him. They were facing the other two.
"So, are you bringing me my meal or is it for something else?" Fafnir asked looking at the two boys.
"Me? Your meal? Is that an insult ?!" Lui said, not liking the dragon's tone of speech. Free felt nervous since he shouldn't talk like that to his friend if he didn't know him. Shu too, he was biting his lower lip, he didn't want anything to happen to Valt's friend.
The dragon approached the duo and Shu decided to let go of Lui since he saw the dragon order him that. The blue boy was feeling very nervous at the look that Fafnir was giving him.
"You are very reckless young human, to answer me like that. I think you deserve your punishment." the dragon raised its mouth to open it and pointed it wide open towards Him. Shu and Free gasped.
"No wait !" Free shouted. Shu stopped him. "It's no use, you have to see what's going on."
Lui dodged the big jaw and went to take cover behind a crystal.
"You wanna play, eh? The game will be fun." said the golden dragon.
Lui observed the place where the dragon was and saw nothing more. He felt a presence behind him and met Fafnir's teeth. He got out of there and tried to find a way to get away. He entered the gallery, which was actually the marker where the dragon slept.
Free still wanted to go help him but Shu held him because he wanted to see what was going to happen. Fafnir the pista to the place.
Lui, for his part, found a dead end. And then, something that shone. It looked like a spinning top, it was glowing a blue and purple color.
Lui took it and this at that moment that Fafnir arrived. "You're a petty thief, actually. Is that right? You want to steal my treasure." He looked all over the place to see right from gold coins and things of value. "And yes, this is my treasure and you will give me back what you took."
When Fafnir was about to reach him, the spinning top began to glow brightly, forming a whirlwind.
The dragon roared but he wasn't the only one. A fire drove him away. Lui let go of the object and something appeared.
Lui opened his eyes wide. There was a huge ice dragon in front of him. Fafnir roared since he had been attacked. He didn't know who the other dragon was.
"Wow ..." Lui said not believing his eyes.
"Who are you ?" asked Fafnir.
"My name is Luinor. And I am the guardian and spirit of the boy behind me."
"A poor human like that can't have such a big avatar." said Fafnir. "And especially a dragon. The dragon avatar is made for the brave, those with a unique character. But this human has none."
"I don't think you know him well enough."
"Gaaah, I will show you that I am better than you."
Fafnir attacked the other dragon and a battle ensued.
From Shu and Free's side, they heard dragon roars.
"Something is happening." says Free
"Yes, another dragon appeared but how?"
Then they seen Lui run out of there. Free ran to hug him, "Are you okay? Fafnir hasn't done anything to you ?!"
Lui shook his head, "Something happened. I touched some kind of spinning top and a dragon appeared from it."
Shu and Free looked at each other. And Shu then smiles, "That's how I got to know Spryzen too. Now this dragon will protect you when you need it."
"But didn't you say they can only spawn in this cave?"
"Yes, but a spirit can be as free as Fafnir." said Shu
A cloud of smoke rose from where the two dragons were. They saw Fafnir being waltzed against the wall by Luinor.
Shu, when he saw the beast, was surprised. "I didn't think it would be such a dragon... Huge."
Longinus roared and approached Fafnir dangerously. "You shouldn't have tried to hurt my master."
"We have to stop this." Free said. "We did not come to create conflicts but to have answers. Fafnir!"
The two dragons turned to the group.
"Stop the fight." Shu said. "We came to discuss, not to fight."
"I can feel something new in Luinor." said Fafnir. "Like I wanted to pit myself against him all the time."
"Looks like you catch a glimpse of what rivalry is, Fafnir." Luinor said, "and it happens to me too."
"It's been a long time since I've measured myself against someone as powerful as him. Maybe because I haven't seen almost any spirit too."
"Sure, but I would like to ask you something." Free said. Fafnir came to him, while Luinor went to him. "Can you tell me if ... Lui's good. Like I asked you with Silas."
"Hmm." Fafnir examined Lui closely. "That's a pretty unexpected question you're asking me here. I didn't think you were drawn to this little one."
"I am, more than with Silas himself, but I want to know if my instincts are playing tricks on me."
Fafnir sniffed all over to smell Lui and then looked him in the eyes. He looked into her amethyst eyes and saw the child's past. The golden dragon then walked away, looking at the face filled with fear but above all insecurity of the human and then turned to Free, "What do you think, you?"
"That I can trust him. I know he might try to run away again but I guess that's understandable. I can understand that you can't trust someone like that. don't know. And then when that person hurt him too. I'm sorry about that. "
Free looked at Lui, and He lowered his eyes. He knew Free had just apologized to him and he knew he wanted to redeem himself for what he had done to him. "I forgive you ..."
Free smiles and so does Shu. They should get along better with him now.
Fafnir observed the face of Lui during the words of his master. "I think this little one will be good for you for now. But ... Nothing ever lasts long, we'll see what he does afterwards."
"What do you mean?" Free asked.
"You'll see. This little one doesn't mean harm to you but ... Be careful what consequences his past may have later. I can see in his future the flames and the cries of pain.
Free turned his head towards Lui. This prediction was something catastrophic. The flames, the suffering, these are not events that would be good to experience. He didn't know if it was a bad sign but if the boy didn't mean harm to him, that was all that mattered.
"Here we go, Shu, Lui." says Free
"Yeah, we've got the answer. You might as well go." said Shu
Luinor turned into a spinning top again and went into Lui's hand. This time it had no more shine, you could clearly see how the top was. It must have been metal and it was heavy, lots of metal dragons were on it.
"Yes. We're leaving."
Lui and Shu left first. "Come on, Free, come on!" Shu said.
Fafnir says, next to Free, "This little one is not normal. What he's been through before is appalling, that's what will cause problems in the future if you stay with him."
"Then I will face them, I will overcome his famous problems."
"And I'll help you if I need to."
Free nodded and joined the others. They went back to their "houses".
End of the chapter. Longer than the previous ones, eh?
Fafnir can see the future of others and I have the impression that he is not the most beautiful. But you will see later.
