chapter 47
Later
With eri
We see her in her room scrolling on her phone with Monika's head on her lap.
Monika: what's wrong? I felt you flinching.
Eri: It's... it's UA. It's closing.
*Monika's eyes widen as she lifts her hand. Eri passes the phone to her, and Monika looks at it. Reading the article, she can't help but frown.
Monika: God damn it, I owe my mother 50 bucks!
Eri:why?
Minoka:I bet it would never get shut down with how corrupt Japan can be. No wonder she's been calling me...
Eri: Wait, your mother has been calling you, and you just ignored her?
Eri said she was surprised that if she did, Momo would have a panic attack and fly to Paris, thinking the worst. Monika just shrugged with a grin.
Monika: She knows I'm alive; that's all she needs. But seriously, thank Magneto, that place is dead and buried. I hope the little shits don't make it to another hero school and just live their lives with dead jobs.
Eri hummed as she thought about the article; she should be happy, should feel relief, anything really, but she didn't. She didn't; she just felt hollow when thinking about it. She was taken out of that thought when she flinched again and blushed deeply since Minoka kissed her inner thigh.
Eri:m..Mino!!
Monika: Sorry, you just looked so deep in thought that I had to tease you a little.
*Monika said with a wink and a grin. Eri huffed as she pouted, making Monika chuckle as she got higher and making Eri fall on her back on the bed as Monika spooned her.*
Monika: Let's take a nap, my little spoon.
Eri: mínoka You're not going to escape your homework like that.
*Monika started snoring, but Eri was having none of it.*
Eri: Girl, I know you're faking it.
*Monika grip became stronger as Eri tried to escape to no avail. Eri huffed frustrated as she just accepted her faith and got comfortable, at least feeling a warmth inside herself being held like this by her girlfriend.*
Meanwhile, in Japan
Everyone:cheers!
*The Midoriya and Bakugo families clink their Pepsi-filled glasses together as they drink and celebrate watching the news.*
TV
Lois: I'll repeat if you just turned on your TV: UA, the once-highest-ranking hero school in the country, is now going to be closed by the end of the month. It truly is the end of the era. Back to you in the studio. Clark
Clark: Thank you, Lois. I gotta say I'm not surprised that place has been on the decline for the last couple of years.
Jimmy: Tell me about it. Every time I looked up the ranks, it would get lower and lower.
Clark: It really is a show of how the mighty can fall.
Living room
Mitsuki: And all thanks to my husband right here!!
Mitsuki said, hugging Masaru and giving him a big kiss on the lips. Masaru blushed, embarrassed, as he rubbed the back of his head.
Chizome: Ha, from cold and calculating to a bumbling fool, you really are a mystery.
Masaru: At least I'm not scared of my wife like you are of your girlfriend.
Masaru said with a smirk that Chizome was about to say something when he saw Kaina smiling at him, and not the loving smiles Tsuyu or Ryuko would give Izuku and Inko. No, nothing like that; it was a "try me" smile that made Chizome shut up and drink his Pepsi.
Inko: Aw, the big bad vigilante is completely whipped. What a sad sight.
*Inko said with a smug look and a blush since Ryuko hugged her from behind, trying to make her crack. All the while this was happening, Izuku and Tsuyu were cuddling on the couch, looking at the TV. Izuku saw a flash go past the window.
Izuku: I'm going to go to the terrace and have a smoke break. I'll be right back.
*Izuku kissed Tsuyu's cheek and walked away from the small party. He grabbed some food along the way. Izuku closed the door to the terrace and placed the food on the table. Izuku leaned against the terrace, putting smoke on his lips and lighting it. He closed his eyes for a few moments, enjoying the smoke. When he opened his eyes and turned around, Bakugo Katsuki was there, enjoying the meal.
Katsuki: Thanks for the cake and sh*t.
Izuku: My pleasure; Tsuyu made it. How are things at work?
Katsuki: Ah, I can't complain about busting a huge drug operation a while back. Kirishima took the credit for obvious reasons.
*Katsuki said with a shrug as Izuku passed the joint to him. Bakugo took it and took a puff, coughing a bit.
Izuku: Heh, still a fucking noob.
Katsuki: Piss off, will you?
Both chuckled as Katsuki passed the joint back to Izuku.
Izuku is kind of funny when you think about it. U.A., the dream of our younger self closed forever, almost symbolic in a way, closing the chapter of who we used to be.
Katsuki: I'll cheer do that. Goodbye, younger me. You were an overly arrogant piece of sh*t.
Izuku, goodbye, younger me. You were a pansy-ass doormat.
*Katsuki toasted to the air his drink while Izuku took a deep puff of his joint*
Katsuki: So what now?
Izuku: After our little conversation is over, go back to the party and enjoy it for a few hours. We all go home, and me and Tsuyu make sweet love to end the night. How about you?
Katsuki: Keep an eye out on you until you go back home; go back to my base; and probably do the same with Kirishima.
*Katsuki finished the food and drink Izuku brought for him and got up next to him, both leaning against the railing, sharing a joint, enjoying the cool night air and each other's company.*
Katsuki: Did I ever apologize?
Izuku: Probably, who cares? The sh*t you did a lifetime ago doesn't compare to what the others did and continue to do.
Katsuki: Still tough. Sorry for being an insecure piece of sh*t.
Zuku passed the joint to Bakugo and looked at him with a small grin on his face.
Izuku: Do you realize you were a little kid back then?
Katsuki: A little kid that was a piece of sh*t, yes.
*Maybe it was Mary Jane taking effect, maybe it was the mood, or maybe it was their friendship starting again. But that statement made both of them give out a good, hearty laugh for a bit.
Katsuki: Ever think about coming to my side? You know vigilante life and all that?
Izuku, man, your resistance must be weak if you're already saying shit like that.
Zuku took a puff and let the air fill his lungs as he looked at the slowly rising moon.
Izuku: You know what I'm going to say: a quirkless person can't be a hero. The same goes for vigilantes. We're not the ones that people count on to save the day. We're the ones that need saving and the ones that will die out in a couple generations.
*Izuku said it not in a sad tone, or in any tone for that matter; it was just blind acceptance. The way the world works, soon no one will remember quirkless even existed, and Izuku made peace with that reality. Bakugo hummed as Izuku passed him the joint. Bakugo smoked it and actually showed some semblance of sadness.
Bakugo: Those words are engraved in your mind, huh?
*Bakugo muttered sadly, looking up at the moon, remembering every single time he said it to Izuku over and over again.*
Bakugo: another regret I'll need to dish out with my therapist."
Izuku: It's just reality, bakugo. I'm aware of my limitations, and I'm aware that this world hates my kind. I'm living proof of that.
*Izuku finished the joint and squashed it with his foot.*
Bakugo: So you gave up?
Izuku: Yeah, what's the point of fighting a changing world? I've fought long enough; it's easier to just let the wind take me wherever. At least I'm not alone; I have Tsuyu with me on that journey; she's more than enough. And I'm sure Kirishima is the same for you.
*Both young adults didn't say much else after that; they just kept looking at the night sky and keeping each other company. After a bit, Izuku yawned and tapped Bakugo's shoulder.
Izuku: You should get going, knowing your mother's going to come check up on me any second now.
Bakugo: Right, see you around Zu.
Izuku:later Ka-chan
*Izuku closed his eyes as the door opened. When Izuku opened his eyes and turned around, Katsuki was gone as Mitsuki walked out.
Mitsuki: Yo brat, your mother asked me to check up on you; were you talking to somebody?
Izuku: just a phone call. Don't worry about it, aunty. I'm coming back inside anyway.
*Izuku walked past Mitsuki; Mitsuki looked outside. Katsuki was hidden in the shadows, looking at his mother with sad eyes. Katsuki flinched since he swore his mother saw him. Mitsuki could almost make out a figure in the distance but ignored it as she turned around and walked inside with Izuku.
Katsuki:bye mom....
