chapter 28
*Izuku was behind Tsuyu, giving her a massage on her shoulder and doing his best to calm Tsuyu down.*
Izuku: Now repeat after me, I'm not going to kill them.
Tsuyu: Your not going to kill them, Kero.
Izuku: Tsu.
Tsuyu: They had sex in our bed; there's a picture of Eri inside; Eri saw everything, Kero!
Zuku snorted, finding all of this hilarious, but one angry glare from Tsuyu made him cough and continue the massage.
Izuku:I'm good I'm good. I'll behave. Eri didn't see anything; it's just a picture. Just take some deep breaths and enjoy the coffee.
*Tsuyu sighed and did what she was told, moaning softly when a snap was heard.*
Izuku; there it was; there's not what I was looking for. Now remember, you are not going to kill them. Your not going to scream, you are going to...
Tsuyu:.....
Izuku: Tsuyu, come on. I agreed that I would go to therapy in a few days. Work with me here, love.
Tsuyu: I'm going to hear them out, Kero...
*Tsuyu mumbled reluctantly. *Izuku sighed with a tired smile and sat down.
Izuku: Alright, I did the best I could to come down!
*After a few moments, Momo came down wearing borrowed clothes that Melissa left, rubbing her arm and looking anywhere but Tsuyu.*
Tsuyu: Where's the other one? Kero
Momo: She's still taken a bath, probably crying. Most definitely crying
Both Tsuyu and Momo glared at Izuku, who snorted in laughter and was clearly failing not to laugh.
Izuku, oh, come on, she literally exploded my eardrums. I think I've earned this!
Momo: Can you just not, please? Kyo and I are dealing with a lot of things. The last thing we need is the guilt of what we did a decade ago.
Izuku:fine fine I'll try
Momo: Ok, food looks good.
Izuku;thanks
Momo sat down and started eating, looking more and more nervous.
Momo: I can feel your eyes burning whole in your forehead.
Tsuyu:good Kero
Momo: I'm sorry, ok!
Tsuyu: Does my bedroom still smell like sex? Kero
Momo:......
*Izuku was slamming his fist on the table, crying legitimately.*
Izuku: I swear this must be magneto rewarding me for all the shit I've been through. Oh God, my cheek hurt so much.
They all heard the water upstairs stop. Momo's breath hitched in her throat.
Izuku: How bad was it when she woke up?
Momo:......
Flashback
Kyoka: Oh, God, my head...
Kyoka slowly opened her eyes and looked around.
Kyoka: Where the hell are we?
Momo: We're in the room they put you in before they locked you in the electric chair. the chair being Tsuyu Asui
Kyoka looked and was even more confused seeing Momo there.
Kyoka:momo What are you doing, what happened?
Kyoka's eyes widen as her memories come back to her. Momo clicked her tongue. She walked up to Kyoka and gave her a glass of water and a few aspirin pills. Kyoka took them and drank as if she hadn't drank in a month.
Kyoka: Oh God, Oh God...
Kyoka hugs herself. She started hyperventilating. Momo tried to help her, but Kyo slapped that hand away.
Kyoka: Don't touch me!!
Momo: Kyoka, your hyperventilating, just breathe.
Kyoka:breath? BREATH?!! I JUST CHEATED ON MY BOYFRIEND. I WAS UNFAITHFUL!!! CALL KAMINARI WHAT YOU WANT, BUT AT LEAST HE NEVER CHEATED ON ME!!!
Kyoka screamed as tears of frustration fell from her face. Kyoka felt nothing but disgust for herself. Did she have feelings for Momo? Yes, but this is not the way she wanted things to happen.
Kyoka: Not even in my nightmares could I picture something this horrible. Oh God, what did I do?! I was unfaithful. I cheated. Oh God, I'm going to be sick!
*The worst part of all that and what's really eating her up is that she would do it again; she would buckle under and jump on Momo's arms without thinking of the consequences or how this would affect Denki Kaminari, who is blameless in all this.*
Kyoka:I'm scum I'm absolute scum. I'm.... I'm..!
*Momo, seeing Kyoka's emotional state getting worse, didn't care about the consequences. She jumped towards Kyoka and hugged her tight. Kyoka pushed and punished, but Momo didn't let go. After a bit, Kyoka went limp on Momo's body and just started weeping.
Kyoka: I hate myself...
Present
Momo: Very bad, so please don't say anything.
Izuku:. So I shouldn't put Unfaithful by Rihanna on the stereo?
Momo, my god, were you always this much of an uncaring jerk?
Izuku: No, but you all made me this way, so what do you expect? To be honest, I'm glad that this happened. The only thing that would make this day perfect for me is if somehow you two managed to send a video of what you did last night to that good-for-nothing piece of sh*t. Oh, that would just be icing on the fucking cake.
Momo decided to just eat and not respond, seeing as she knew where that conversation would go.
Tsuyu: You can't really blame him for this one, momo. I mean look at his limbs, kero.
Momo: I know, I know, just... please try to at least be considerate. As a favor for a friend
Izuku groaned but nodded reluctantly.
Izuku: Fine. When the hell did I start seeing you as a friend anyway?
Momo: That's on you, but I can't say anything sad about it.
*The conversation ended quickly when Kyoka walked down, rubbing her arm and wearing borrowed clothes from Tsuyu. The two of them could see Kyoka's puffy red eyes as she sat down and started eating, not looking at anyone.*
Meanwhile in Greece
Nejire pov
*I'm terrified. There's no other way to describe it. I'm scared to death. Looking down at the bed and seeing Penelope on death's door, Tamaki was sitting down next to his daughter, checking on her as if that would somehow change.
Tamaki:24°C Yup, honey, you have a cold.
3rd person
Penelope got sick, and Nejire was freaking out as this was the first time dealing with a sick child.
Penelope: My throat hurts, papa.
Tamaki: I know, honey, I know.
*Tamaki kissed Penelope's forhead and got up, leaving the room; Nejire freaked out and followed him running, almost falling down the stairs.*
Nejire: "What are you doing?? We need to get her to a hospital!
Tamaki: No, I need to make her chicken soup. It's just a cold nejire; it's not the first she's gotten, and it won't be the last.
Tamaki said as he took out a few ingredients to make homemade chicken soup.
Tamaki: While I do this, can you give Penelope some warm milk with honey? That would help her throat.
Nejire:r..right!!
Nejire looks all over the kitchen, becoming more and more erratic.
Nejire: Where's the honey? Where's the honey?
Tamaki; on the shelf, it's the yellow bear. Will you calm down? So she got sick. Kids get sick.
Nejire: But it's my fault she got sick!
Tamaki:. . . Ok, walk me through your process on that.
Nejire: I was the one who took her to Chucky Cheese; that place is filled with germs! Full of snot-nosed kids whose parents don't clean up after them. Oh God, we ate pizza from that place; that must be it! Some workers must've sneezed on the pizza! It's my fault for taking her there!
Tamaki:. God, it's a good thing you're beautiful. Nejire, you did not get Penelope sick; shit just happens now. The longer we talk, the longer it's going to take for Penelope to feel better. Just get her the milk with honey.
*Nejire huffed, angry that Tamaki was looking down on her and her completely legitimate reason for why she's guilty and why she should be sent to the deepest pit of hell.*
Nejire:fine!
Nejire did what she was told and left, stomping up the stairs.
Tamaki, yeah, she still has the attitude of a child.
Tamaki said to himself, chuckling as she placed the food in the chicken broth.
Upstairs
Nejire took a deep breath before opening the door with a forced smile.
Nejire; Hey, honey, how are you feeling?
Penelope: My throat is very itchy...
Penelope said, sniffling, making Nejire's "guilt" feel even greater. Nejire sat down on the bed and gave Penelope the glass of milk.
If not, then this should help you feel better—some nice milk and honey!
Penelope took it and drank it, making Nejire feel a lot better.
Nejire:there see? Feeling better?
Penelope:yeah. I like being sick.
Nejire:you do?
Penelope: Yeah, it means Daddy takes the day off and spends all day with me.
Nejire: Ah, that's nice. But he must spend a lot of time with you, doesn't he?
Penelope: But daddy has to work a lot; when I'm sick, he drops everything and stays with me.
*Penelope said, smiling brightly. Nejire grew again in force as Tamaki walked in, making Penelope smile brightly.*
Tamaki:daddy!
Tamaki: Hey Princess, I have your chicken soup ready, and while you eat, how about we watch some Disney?
Penelope:Notre Dame, Notre Dame!!
Nejire:Notre Dame?
Tamaki is the hunchback of Notre Dame; it's her favorite movie. Do me a favor and feed her the soup while I put it on.
*Penelope sat up right as Nejire looked between the father-daughter duo like they were insane. With a shaky hand, she grabbed the spoon and started feeding Penelope. Tamaki puts the movie on and sits down next to his daughter, rubbing her head and making her smile brightly. Penelope was a bit too young to understand why she was so happy, but right now she felt like she had a father and a mother.
With Eri
Eri took a sigh as she finished ordering her new room and putting everything in its place. The door knocked, and she walked to answer. She opened it and saw one of her legal guardians while in France, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, smiling at her.
Marinette: hello eri, How are you liking your new room? I hope it's alright for you.
Eri: It's fine, thank you.
Marinette: Of course, if you're finished with decorating and all that, please follow me to the living room. Me and my wife need to tell you all the rules of living here.
Eri nodded reluctantly and followed behind her. Eri liked Marinette, not because she was being nice or because she was sweet. Because she was a mumbler like her father, it made Eri feel calmer about her situation. *
Marinette: Oh, and of course you'll be starting school here—hero school, of course—you'll actually be going to my old school, Collège Françoise Dupont.
Eri: Wait, your old school?
Marinette:yes. While Collège Françoise Dupont is an old school, it just added a hero program like 8 years ago, and let me tell you, I wish they had that before. When I was your age, I had to learn everything as I went.
*Marinette giggled, remembering those frustrating times.*
Eri, are you a hero?
Marinette and Chloe are the heroes of Paris. Ladybug and Queen Bee
Chloe: I think you mean queen bee and ladybug love.
*Marinette rolled her eyes playfully as they made it to the living room, where the rest of the teens were waiting. And what do you know? The only spot available to sit was next to Mínoka. Eri took a small huff since she knew this was on purpose and sat down next to the grinning lionfish. Chloe coughed and got their attention. She smirked, feeling empowered.
Chloe: Alright, you are all living rent-free in my family's hotel complex.
Marinette: Actually, Izuku and Yaoyorozu are footing the bill for all of them.
Chloe:hush you. So if you are living for free here, there will be serious rules you will need to follow while living under our roof and eating our food for free.
Marinette:paid for
*Chloe looked at her with an exasperated look while Marinette gave her an innocent smile. *
Chloe: Do you want to do this right now? Like really undermined me right now? While I'm in the middle of something here,?
Marinette: Fine, look, kids, we don't expect much. Just don't be stupid, wear protection, if you're going anywhere, tell us first, and if we say something, you best believe it like it's a law understood.
Mínoka: Yeah, now Chloe, keep telling us how you founded Team Miracle.
*Chloe flinched and could feel her wife looking at her with an angry smile.*
Marinette: Yes, love, please tell them all about that.
Chloe: Well, uh... um, how about instead I tell you how I got my kwami?!
Marquis: So, I'm guessing you weren't all that truthful with that reaction.
Chloe: Well, the team did get better after I replaced that stupid cat.
*Chloe mumbled, blushing, thinking of a way to escape the hole she dug for herself.*
Marinette: How about you tell them how you were before? I feel like that would help them.
*Chloe's breath hitched in her throat as she looked at Marinette and instantly knew what she meant. With a sigh, she sat down on the armchair and rubbed her neck.
Chloe: Well, I'm not going to lie, I was just a total bitch towards everyone. I was a bully, no two ways about it.
This got Eri's attention as she looked at Chloe, who was playing with her hands.
Chloe: I did horrible things towards everyone, but especially at Marinette; I abused her mentally; I would harass her, steal her stuff, and... a lot of things that I still, for the life of me, can't figure out why she forgave me.
*Chloe said as she cleaned away a tear from her face. Marinette walked towards her and rubbed her shoulder, giving Chloe the smile she loved so much—the smile she doesn't deserve but is still blessed with.*
Chloe: It got worse when this girl, Lila, came to our school. She managed to manipulate me into being a worse version of myself, and it got so much worse. Until my kwami appeared and dragged me to Marinette's house, And... I saw her crying, like, actually crying for the first time. I saw her broken. I saw what my actions had caused.
Eri, and what makes it ok? Just because you saw her crying, you suddenly saw everything you did as finally bad? It never came to mind that you might be wrong.
Eri said harshly, and Chloe chuckled softly to herself as she looked at the young girl who was seeing her like she was Satsuki.
Chloe: No, it doesn't. Nothing that I did made my actions okay. But I did change for the better because of it; I stopped hanging out with Lila and started defending Mirabel. It took a long time to gain her trust—like a very long time.
Marinette: can't blame me for that.
Chloe: fair. But I did change, even if I was the only one in that class who saw the truth. My point being and the reason I'm telling you all my story, especially you, Eri. Is it true that people can change? Hopefully, military school will help her change, like seeing Mirabel cry helped me. And maybe one day you two can become friends again.
Eri: It's still too fucking early to see that ever happening.
Eri mumbled, crossing her arms. She calmed a little, and Mínoka rubbed her back.
Chloe: That's completely natural; it took me almost a year to get Marinette's trust. Just don't focus your time on that hate because it can consume you, and I can promise you, as someone who used to let it control her, it's next to impossible to escape it.
Eri sighed and nodded, but she wasn't really listening.
Marinette: Alright, so it's still early, so all of you go explore the city; it will be your new home for the foreseeable future, and Eri, tomorrow I'm taking you to therapy.
Eri: Oh, come on, I don't need it...
Eri whined, and Marinette just chuckled slightly, looking at her phone.
Marinette: Yeah, your father texted me, and I quote, "If I'm going to therapy, so is Eri."
Eri: Gee, thanks, dad...
Mínoka: Hey, it's going to be fine. Hell, my mom goes to therapy. It's completely healthy.
Eri: I am not sick. Mínoka, I don't need to sit in a chair and talk to some quacks for 2 hours.
Kotsuzui: Your wrists would say otherwise. Girl, they are red.
Eri cursed under her breath and hid her arms behind her back. Even with her quirk, at this point, She can't rewind far enough without causing herself damage. Mínoka frowned and grabbed Eri, walking away with her with a smile on her face.
Mínoka: alrighty! So me and Eri are going to walk around the city and just...take it all in. We'll see you all later.
*Mínoka left with Eri before they could say anything else. They got out of the hotel and just walked around, not saying a word.
Eri, it's not that bad...
Eri mumbled out loud the first word said between the two of them.
Mínoka: If it's not that bad, why are you fighting so hard against things like therapy? If it's not that bad, just go; the doctor will see that you're right and you don't have to go back.
Eri:.....
Mínoka: Hey, look at the ice cream, let's get some
*Mínoka said this in an attempt to change the conversation. They grabbed their ice cream, and Mínoka paid for it.
Eri, you didn't have to do that...
Mínoka: I wanted to
Mínoka said, smiling brightly. Eri gave her a small smile back and ate her ice cream. They sat down and just enjoyed the icy treat while the world moved around them. Mínoka shifted closer to Eri to the point their arms touched, and on instinct, Eri let her head rest on Minoka's shoulder.
Mínoka: Something tells me Paris is going to do great things for you and for us.
Minoka said softly. Both knew the implications of Minoka's words and the words she left unsaid, but they weren't there yet. Eri wasn't there; she wasn't in a place mentally where she could see herself with another person, and Mínoka knew that and was more than ready to wait for when she was, even if it wasn't with her.
Eri:yeah....for us..
Eri said softly, as they didn't say anything more after that. They just sat there and enjoyed their ice cream and, more importantly, each other's company.
