chapter 31
*Momo woke up in a daze. After multiple meetings, coffee, energy drinks, sleepless nights and days, her body finally collapsed on the bed Friday. She looked at her clock/calendar and basically jumped out of bed.*
Momo; lies!! Lies I say!! How the fuck is it Monday already?!! Where did my weekend go?!! Wait, OH FUCK ERI!!!
*Eri left running to the bathroom to get ready for her normal routine that normally takes her 1 hour; she did it in 5 minutes, and my god did it show. Running with two different pairs of shoes, she made it to the dining room, seeing Eri and Kyoka there having breakfast.*
Momo:hi Eri!
Momo quickly kissed her daughter before grabbing a banana and running away.
Momo:bye Eri I completely forgot to pick Eri up. I'll be back soon!!
Momo left running as Eri and Kyoka just stood there, hearing the car turning and leaving at full speed.
Eri:. 20 minutes
Kyoka:1 hour
Eri:bet
1 hour later
*We see a self-hating momo in her car over and over again insulting herself for sleeping through the pickup time for her own daughter when her brain finally caught up to her and she hit the brake pedal with all her force, almost causing an accident. Momo ignored all the honks as the event of that morning came back to her.*
Momo:Eri was eating breakfast; Kyoka was eating with her; Kyoka picked Eri up and
*She looked at her phone, feeling a little better about herself as there were no messages from Kyoka warning her she was going to do it. With a sigh, she turned around and started driving back home. Now her self-hatred turned into pure, raw embarrassment.*
Another hour later
*She made it home seeing Eri and Kyoka on the couch. Eri was pouting while Kyoka had a smug grin on her face, waving the 50 bucks around.*
Kyoka: Well, well, well, look who decided to join us.
Momo: Shouldn't you be in your own home?
Kyoka: Hey, how about a thank you for picking your daughter up?
Momo: Oh yes, thank you for now texting me that you're going to do that.
Kyoka: Even if I did, the results would've been the same: you running for your life since your body crashed and made you sleep for days, but after only 3 days of sleep, I was for sure you wouldn't wake up until Thursday.
Momo:mimimimimi
*Momo said in a high-pitched tone that was supposed to mimic Kyoka. Momo pouting crashed on her couch, lazily taking off her shoes before glancing at Eri.*
Momo: Shouldn't you be at school?
Eri: It's a holiday.
Momo just groaned loudly as she was slowly becoming one with the couch.
Momo: I blame my alarm clock...
Momo mumbled, making Kyoka snort in amusement. The 3 of them stayed like that, just watching a samurai trying to get back to the past. When her phone buzzed, she looked and was surprised as it was a message from Izuku.
Burned nugget: Hey, are you busy?
Fat cow:not at the moment. Is something the matter?
Burned nugget: Do you think you could meet me at xxxx xxxx xxxx by sundown?
Fat cow: I'll be there.
Momo put her phone away, and a feeling of melancholy filled her heart and a lump on her throat as she had an idea of what this was about.
Hours later
Momo parked the car and walked to the location, seeing Izuku sitting down on a bench with a bit of a sigh. Momo sat down next to him, giving him a small but slightly forced smile.
Momo: It's a beautiful place and an even more beautiful location.
Izuku: Yeah, nostalgic location...
*Both didn't say anything; they just kept looking at the park. The both of them could see themselves as little kids: little Izuku standing up to bullies while she protected momo, and little Momo looking at little Izuku as her savior.*
The memory brought a smile to their faces, but Izuku sighed as his expression turned more serious.
Izuku: I'm.... I'm going to ask Tsuyu to marry me. I thought it was only fair, you know...
Momo was a smart woman; she knew this was coming, but that didn't mean the words didn't hit her like a ton of bricks. She looked down, her hair covering her eyes as she gave a hollow chuckle.
Momo: I had a feeling I knew it was stupid to ask, but...you don't love me anymore, right?
Izuku: Yes, yes, yes i still love you, momo. Even after everything, you'll still have a place in my heart, but I can't take you back.
*Those words were so bittersweet for Momo; she didn't say anything and just nodded her head so Izuku could continue.*
Izuku:momo, we leave certain things in the past for a reason. What you and I had was a wonderful thing, and as much as I still have a great deal of love for you, our time is over. I love somebody else.
Momo: Oh Zuzu, I wish I could do something to make you happy.
Izuku: There is something you can do, Mochi. Live your life. Live it as wonderful as you can. I love you, Mochi.
Momo: I love you too, Zuzu... So...this is it, huh?
Izuku—not yet. Did you know in school they called us Izumomo?
Momo:seriously? Not really creative
Izuku: Yeah, for you, what was the last Izumomo moment for us?
Momo looked down, hugging herself with self-hatred, and Izuku nodded, thinking the same thing.
Momo, when they attacked you and my stupid self threw you the ring
Izuku: Yeah, that's arguably our last Izumomo moment, but... I don't want it to be. I don't want that memory to be what we think of. I would rather be this.
*Izuku chuckled as he took his phone, which was connected to some Bluetooth speakers. Momo looked confused until she flinched as a melody she knew by heart started to play. Izuku got up and gave Momo his hand with a soft smile.
Izuku: What do you say Mochi wants to give me the world one last time?
*Tears threaten to fall from her face, but one managed to escape. Momo cleaned it up with a smile as she grabbed Izuku's hand and got up. She holds Izuku by his neck while Izuku holds her by her waist, and they start to dance.
Music:You keep me holding on. Bated breath. It's always something.
Momo gave a hollow giggle, resting her head in the crook of Izuku's neck and remembering that dance from so long ago.
(Chapter 7)
Past Momo: Come on, Zuzu, let's dance!
Past Izuku:momo, I don't know!!
Baby, you like to play your games.
Messing with my brain like it's nothing
*Izuku dipped her slightly, making Momo chuckle at his boldness.*
Music:When you call, I come running right over the edge. And I'm falling. Got me chasing these eight letters, three words, just say it.
I'm all in.
Momo started humming softly as she hugged Izuku's neck a little tighter, getting closer to him.
Music: Don't you know, baby?
I would give you the world.
But you take it from me.
Can't you see what I would do?
Oh, everything for you?
I'd steal the moon, the sun, the stars, and every one
If you would just say I'm your girl
I'd give you the world.
I'd give you the world.
*Izuku stepped on one of Momo's feet on purpose, making her cackle and remembering that dance from so long, making her stop dancing for a moment to catch her breath.*
music:I didn't want anyone.
I was over love.
Always something
Baby, you caught me off guard.
And you held me in your arms.
Heartbeat pumping
Momo rested her head on Izuku's shoulder with a content sigh, wishing this dance could last forever.
Music:When you touch me, I melt in your hands.
Like your fire in December, yeah.
But no matter how close we get,
You never seem to surrender.
Momo closed her eyes and started singing next to Izuku's ear.
Music/momo: Don't you know, baby?
I would give you the world.
But you take it from me.
Can't you see?
I would do, oh, everything for you.
I'd steal the moon, the sun, the stars, and every one of them.
If you would just say I'm your girl
I'd give you the world. I'd give you the world.
Izuku: You're my girl.
*Izuku mumbled softly, making Momo smile, feeling as if she's reliving that memory, as if she and Izuku were young, 14 again, so naive, so happy, so free.*
music/izuku: I'm giving you all of my love.
Music/momo:But boy, it's been long enough, oh.
Music/momo/izuku: Don't you know?
I would give you the world.
But you take it from me.
Can't you see?
I would do, oh, everything for you.
I'd steal the moon, the sun, the stars, and every one of them.
If you would just say I'm your girl or boy
I'd give you the world. I'd give you the world.
I'd give you the world.
The music stopped. Izuku and Momo looked at each other before their faces got closer and they closed the distance and kissed each other. It wasn't a couple kiss, it wasn't an unfaithful kiss, no, it was a loving kiss, it was a memory kiss, it was a goodbye kiss goodbye to what they were. A kiss goodbye to Izumomo. Momo slowly let go of the kiss, hiding her face on his chest.
Momo: I know it's stupid, but I really thought I could get a happy ending with us, you know?
*Izuku chuckled softly as they sat back down, the sun almost completely gone.*
Izuku, there's no such thing as a happy ending, momo, there are only happy moments, and yes, we had a lot of happy moments, moments I will treasure, but..does moments are over? We can't go back to the past; I've moved on.
*Izuku gives a CD disk with Kyoka's face on it.*
Izuku: It's time you do the same.
*Izuku said softly as he got up and walked. He saw Kyoka walking to Momo. Both stopped when they're next to each other.
Izuku: You know Momojirou has a nice ring. Do it.
*They didn't say anything else as Izuku left. Kyoka made it to Momo and sat next to her. Momo leaned her head against Kyoka's face. They didn't say anything. Momo's heart was far too weak for any sort of relationship right now; she needed time; she needed a friend, and that's what Kyoka was, but both felt hopeful that maybe in the future something might become real.
Not all stories have happy endings. Izuku and Momo prove that even after redemption, it doesn't mean you'll get the happy ending you've wanted, but that doesn't mean there's not one coming later on since we all deserve happiness, but it's up to us to get it.
*Izuku woke up in his bed alone, frowning. He really did hate sleeping alone; he got so used to sleeping with Tsuyu next to him that it was almost impossible to sleep without her. Izuku sighed, getting his eyes red from forcing himself to sleep as he got up, almost stumbling to the floor. Slowly, he made it downstairs and saw Tsuyu sleeping on the couch. Izuku walked up to her and kissed her forehead before walking to the kitchen to make breakfast. After a bit, Izuku felt the arms of his beloved around him and her face hiding in his back.
Izuku: Morning, how did you sleep?
Tsuyu, fine, Kero you?
Izuku:also fine
Tsuyu/izuku: I know you didn't sleep well. Kero
Izuku/tsuyu:....
*Both laughed softly. Tsuyu kissed the back of his neck and let go of him as she went to place the table. You're probably wondering what's all this about, well...
Flashback last night
*We see Izuku walking inside his home and see Tsuyu reading.*
Izuku: Is it a good read?
*Izuku said, walking up to him and kissing his forehead as Tsuyu just hummed as she closed the book, taking a deep breath.*
Tsuyu: So how was therapy? Kero
Izuku: The same as always.
*Izuku said he was walking away, then Tsuyu said something that made his blood run cold.*
Tsuyu: You mean not going and lying to me, Kero?
Izuku flinched and turned around, looking at Tsuyu, frowning at him.
Izuku:Tsu....
Tsuyu: Oh, please go ahead and tell me what excuse you have for me, Kero.
Izuku: I didn't lie; I said I would try it out, and I did; it wasn't for me.
Tsuyu: You call only going once "trying it out." kero
Izuku:Tsu, come on, I've told you therapy; it's not for me.
Tsuyu, oh, you don't get to say that when you've never gone kero.
*Tsuyu's didn't notice, but her tone was rising, and she wasn't alone as Izuku crossed his arms.*
Izuku: I know plenty! I know that paying someone 300 dollars an hour is not worth it when I'm fine!
Tsuyu:fine?! You call not being able to sleep alone fine?! You call having to take sleeping pills just to sleep through the night fine?! How about when you wake up and start to cry? Is that fine?! It's not fucking fine, Izuku, and you know it! kero
Izuku: What I know is that you're not my mother! If I don't want to go, you can't make me. Whatever problems I have, i can take care of them by myself, but I won't need to because I am fine!!
Tsuyu:GOD DAMN IT IZUKU NO YOU ARE NOT!!
IZUKU: I'm not saying I'm perfect, but everyone has their own problems. They don't need my useless problems to deal with my issues, which are nothing compared to what they all have, which is something so little and insignificant, so just let it go!!
*IZUKU screamed; he couldn't have known that that was the same thing Eri was thinking about her problems.*
*Izuku and Tsuyu were face-to-face both looking at the other with a hateful expression, until Izuku looked away with a click of his tongue and walked away to the bedroom.*
Tsuyu:izuku We're not finished talking. Kero
Izuku: I have. I'm going to sleep. Goodnight.
Tsuyu:izu...!
*Izuku closed the door to the main bedroom as Tsuyu gave an angry huff going to the couch. As mad as she is right now, she couldn't take the bedroom; she wasn't about to make Izuku sleep on the couch with his back problems.*
