chapter 14
Before the call
*Izuku ran to the alleyway and didn't assess the situation. He saw a tall, burly man and two female shadows. *Izuku ran and swung his cane at the men's neck, knocking him unconscious.*
Izuku: Are you girls?
*Izuku turned around as his eyes widen. The girls came out of the shadow. One was a pale girl with green hair that he instantly recognized as Tsuyu's little sister, Satsuki Asui, and the second girl that came out of the shadow was his daughter Eri.*
Izuku:ok....
Eri:d...dad...
Later
Location: Izuku and Tsuyu's house
*We see a nervous Eri playing with her fingers while Satsuki was rubbing her back, trying to calm her down, although she had a frown on her face, glancing around at the room with a few pictures sprinkled around of Izuku and Tsuyu together. Both girls flinched when Izuku came back from the kitchen, giving his phone to Satsuki.*
Izuku: Your mother would like a word with you, young lady.
*Satsuki groaned a bit, looking a bit paler. If that was even possible, she took the phone and walked to the kitchen so her mother could scold her in private.*
*Izuku sat down on the chair in front of the couch. Both he and Eri were in an awkward silence as he made the first move.*
Izuku: I called your mother; she's on her way. She did not sound happy.
Eri:......
Izuku: You want to tell me why you were out at 2 in the morning, and please don't tell me you were in a club with your friends.
Eri: No no! Of course not, I would.
Eri saw Izuju trying to hold his laughter.
Eri, you're messing with me; that's not funny!
Eri threw a pillow at Izuku, who chuckled. The smirk on his face gave him away.
Izuku: Look, I'm not mad. I'm not in any position where I have a right to be mad, at least not yet, so please just tell me what happened.
Eri: It all started with a rumor.
Flashback: Eri as Narrator
*Me and my new friends were in a circle since I brought one of your old quirk analysis books.*
Izuku: You still have it?
*Yeah, I have your first 3 volumes. Anyway, they were so excited to read the quirks of your classmates, aka the current heroes, and how you could beat them using their weaknesses when one of my friends, a boy called Marquis Dendy, spoke up.
Marquis: Heads up, Hater Alter is coming.
*I turned around and saw Satsuki walking with us. I tried to hide your books since she... doesn't like you to put them nicely.*
Izuku: Ok, and not nicely, how would you put it?
She hates you and thinks you broke her family.
Izuku:. Ah, more than 70% of the population hates me, not like I actually care anymore. Continue with the story.
Right, I tried to hide your book, but she saw it.
Satsuki: What did you guys get there?
Eri: Oh, just some analysis books, nothing fancy.
Satsuki:really? Because there's a rumor going around, you have books about that bastard.
*I instantly stood up, glaring at the girl who's supposed to be my best friend.*
Eri: First of all, I don't care what you think my dad did to your family; if you ever call him that again, you will regret it!
*The classroom gasped since no one knew I was your daughter for my protection, but I didn't care anymore since Satsuki used her tongue to grab one of your books and pulled it to her hands, where she proceeded to tear it in half. After that, I saw red and slapped her, Satsuki, who looked surprised, but then her surprise turned into a frown as she slapped me back. I could feel the sting of her hand on my cheek, and my eyes went white from what they told me. Satsuki and me started to fight, in which I managed to give her a black eye. We were obviously separated and sent home, where things only got worse for me. *
Inside the Yaoyorozu household
Momo, what were you thinking?!
Eri: She started it; look what she did to my book!
Momo, and just because of that, you decided to hit her?!
Eri: Yes, absolutely. It's one of the few things I have left from dad. I would have delivered her to the hospital if they hadn't stopped me, and I wouldn't even feel bad about it!!
Momo: My god, Eri, do you realize the kind of trouble you're now going to have now that they know who's your dad?!
Present
Izuku: Before you keep going, I completely agree with your mother that your life is about to get a whole lot worse.
Eri: But you, my dad, how could I have just stood there and let them keep talking bad about you?
Izuku: Honey, a good 70%–75% of the people out there hate my guts. I stopped caring about that, and you should too. Your mother was right in keeping it a secret. People are awful, and they will hurt you just because of my name now, so be more careful, Eri. All that hate will eat you like it ate me, and I sure as hell don't want you to end up a bitter person like me. I would prefer you smile even after that day. The memory of your smile always helped me brighten my time in that place.
Eri smiled a little at that, and that made Izuku smile as well. In Izuku's mind, he saw the same little girl who smiled at him whenever he would buy her apple candy.
Izuku: There it is; there's that diabetes-producing smile anyway.
Back to the flashback Eri as narrator
Eri: I don't care. I love my dad. I absolutely hate having to hide it. I hate that everyone keeps saying awful things about him. Do you have any idea how much vile crap I have to hear just from walking to school?!
Momo: About the same amount I deal with put in the field, I still get comments that I should help that bastard Todoroki get out of jail?! I should get back to him?! Believe me when I say I have to deal with a lot of shit from the public, but I would never hit anyone over it! Go to your room and get grounded.
Eri:but mom!
Momo;room now!!
Eri, I hate you!!
*I ran to my room crying out of frustration. I kind went on a meltdown and just destroyed my room. I don't know how long I was there. There was a lot of screaming, crying, and destroying, but in the end, I came up with one very stupid conclusion that I'm kicking myself right now for doing. I left a note saying I ran away. *
Present
Izuku:you what?!
Eri, I didn't mean it! It was just to give mom a scare. I was just going to spend a few days with Aunty Kyoka.
Izuku, my god, I can't even think of something more immature than the fact that you are so dead when she comes here.
Eri: I don't suppose...
Izuku: Don't you even think about it, little candy apple? I am not saving you from this whatever punishment your mother will give you; it's what you deserve, my god. If I did that to your grandma, it would have broken her heart. Just think about how Momo must be feeling right about now.
Eri looked down as tears started to fall. She quickly cleaned them up by rubbing her eyes furiously in the background. Satsuki returned, giving the phone back to Izuku and sitting down next to Eri.
Eri: I'm almost done retelling the story. After I left the note, I ran in to Satsuki, and we started to fight again. But it didn't last long as that creep came closer to us. He must have had a paralyzing quirk because one look in his eye and me and Satsuki couldn't move. After that, you found us, and here we are.
*The three of them stood there in silence for a few minutes until Izuku started to chuckle.*
Eri, what's so funny?
Izuku: Just imagining your mother's red-eyed, snot-ridden face driving here, I find it amusing.
Satsuki: That's messed up.
Izuku: I think I've earned the right to be messed up.
*The door was knocked, making Izuku sigh and rub his neck*
Izuku: I don't know who I'm dreading more to see, your mother or Tsuyu's mother.
*Izuku got up and grabbed his back-up cane to walk to the door. He opened it, revealing a red-eyed, snot-ridden momo with her hair making a mess.*
Izuku "2 out of 3 is not bad; oh God, this is going to be a long couple of days. I can feel it."
now
Izuku:Momo, you look... not gonna lie, you look like shite. Come in.
*Izuku let her in; momo walked as fast as she could to the living room and saw a nervously sad Eri.*
Eri: Hey mom, you look lovely.
Momo didn't say anything; she just ran up to her and hugged her tightly, crying a little.
Momo: Don't you ever scare me like that again? Do you have any idea how worried I was?!!
Eri:i..i... I'm sorry, please calm down.
Eri rubbed Momo's back while Momo sniffled.
Momo: Calm down. Calm down?!!
Momo let go of Eri and looked at her like a furious mother. She grabbed Eri by her ear and started to pull and twist it.
Eri:owowowowow!!!!
Momo, just what in the magneto Forsaken Charles Xavier hell were you thinking?!
Eri, dad, help me!
*Izuku flinched a bit since he calmed down. He came back to his senses and realized he hasn't been called dad in years, but he is still a parent.*
Izuku: I would defend you, Eri, I would but... I'm kind of on your mother's side. Eri What you did was completely out of line. If you were living with me, you would be grounded for a long time.
Eri:traitor!
Zuku gave a hollow and bitter chuckle, making the girls tremble a bit as he glanced at Eri with a bored expression but slightly amused eyes.
Izuku: Yeah, I don't think you or anybody in my old life has the right to use that word against me.
Satsuki: Why not? It's true.
*Satsuki said, frowning, looking at the man who ruined her family. *Izuku glanced at Satsuki, then glanced back to Eri, not even giving her the time of day. *Momo flinched at all the tension in the room and scratched her cheek. *Izuku sighed and gave a big yawn.
Izuku: alright...
*Izuku's phone rang; he looked, and it was Tsuyu*
Izuku:excuse me
*Izuku got up and went to the kitchen, while Momo looked at Eri.*
Momo: What ever possessed you to do something like this?
Eri:i....i..I'm sorry...
Eri started crying as Momo hugged her, rubbing her back. Momo was also crying, both crying loud enough that Tsuyu could hear them in the background.
Momo, oh honey, I'm not mad, just extremely disappointed. Now come on, let's go home.
Eri: But what about dad?
Izuku: What about me?
*Mother and daughter duo looked at Izuku, leaning against the door*
Izuku: This is my home, and even if I have reluctantly gotten used to Momo and being at the very least civil with her, I'm not going to suddenly go stay at her house. That's just not how the world works, not to mention that Tsuyu would skin me alive if I did.
Eri: But... can I at least come to visit you?
Zuku sighed and looked at Eri. She looked so hopeful, and as much as a bitter, angry Jerk, Zuku has become, he still has a soft spot for her.
Izuku; maybe later down the line we can do something like you staying the weekends or something.
Eri smiled brightly, cleaning her tears, but Momo crossed her arms.
Momo: After your punishment, you are grounded for 4 months!
Eri:4 months?!
Izuku: I would make it six. You ran away and made your mother have a heart attack. Be thankful she's a softy.
Eri sighed and nodded her head. Izuku glanced at Satsuki, who'd been quietly glaring at him through all of this.
Izuku: So, when is your mother coming to pick you up?
Satsuki: She said she'd be here in 2 hours. Why the hell do you make Tsuyu live so far?
Izuku: Because Tsuyu wants nothing to do with your family and I want nothing to do with my old classmates, we made it 4 years without most of them finding us, so I say it was worth the money.
Satsuki glared at Izuku even harder, and he just waved his hand dismissively.
Satsuki: Don't you dare say that!
Izuku: What is the truth? Sorry, little girl, but you're far too young to understand this, but your father was a bastard that broke one of my rules and put his hands on his daughter, and your mother did nothing; she didn't help, didn't stop him from making Tsuyu leave, and oh yeah, she did nothing as your father slapped Tsuyu, so excuse me if I don't exactly like your family. Hell, the only reason I don't kick you out is because I promised to be good to you and your mother, which is a struggle. Believe me, it's a fucking struggle.
Momo: And Tsuyu's father?
Izuku: Oh, him, I can punch like I punched your father.
Eri: Wait, you punched your grandfather?!
Izuku: You didn't tell her that?
Momo blushed a bit as the eyes were on her, and she coughed a bit, looking professional.
Momo, no, no, I did not. I thought it would be wrong for Eri to know.
Izuku, to know what? Did I knocked your old man with one punch? I don't know if I'm still that strong or if your father is just that weak, but I'm sure as hell not complaining.
Momo: Yes, yes, if it was very cool, can we move past it?
Izuku: I think we shall, on an unrelated note, both of you get out; it's 1 in the morning, and I still have to wait for Satsuki's mother. That's going to be a fun conversation.
*Izuku said with a roll of his eyes*
Momo:w..well here's and idea and here me out
Izuku: I'm hearing and already regretting where this is going.
Momo: Why don't me and Eri stay here until Beru makes it? I mean it's been two hours, and I'm not sure you and Satsuki have a lot to talk about.
Zuku and Satsuki glanced at each other before looking at Momo and Eri.
Izuku: I am going to hate myself in the morning, but fine. I'll make some coffee while we wait so the girls can play with Tsuyu's game system.
Satsuki, since when does my sister play games?
Izuku: Since your father kicked her out She just loves to play games.
Izuku walked away with Momo, following him to help.
Momo, you know that was a low blow.
Izuku: Hey, I'm being as polite as I can be, but she's not making it easy with all the glaring.
Momo, Izuku, she's a kid...
Izuku is a kid who thinks she knows the whole story and is mature enough to understand it.
Momo: Just be patient with her and with Eri. Don't think I don't see how uncomfortable you are with her; I can see it in your movements.
Zuku sighed as he took out the insta coffee.
Izuku: It's not like I hate her. You know that it's just...soon more soon than I thought it would be. I thought I would have another 3 or maybe 4 months before I would be ready to see her again. Tsuyu definitely would be here next to me since she helps me with keeping me calm.
Momo, and what do you feel when I'm next to you?
Izuku:an annoyance
Momo: Oh ha ha
*Izuku chuckled as the coffee was ready and they served themselves a cup.*
Izuku: With you now. I guess I feel tired but calm since I know you're not going to tell anyone where I am, although Kyoka was just plain bad luck.
Momo: I heard she and Denki are actually on the rocks since he just doesn't want to grow up. He still acts like a high school kid with zero responsibility.
Izuku: Hopefully they will get divorced. The worse things that bastard gets, the better.
Momo: I can't say I can blame you're hatefulness. He did this, did you?
Momo got a little bold and rubbed her hand softly on Izuku's arm. Izuku rolled his eyes a bit, but let it happen. He didn't hate it, but Tsuyu's hands were softer.
Izuku: It's in the past—a past I can't seem to get over, but what can you do?
*Izuku walked past her, taking a drink of his coffee. Momo sighed sadly, looking at him go. It took a minute, but Momo followed.
2 hours later
*We see Izuku the only one awake as he places a blanket on Momo and Eri, who were sleeping on the couch; as for Satsuki, she was sleeping on the lazy boy recliner that Tsuyu groaned when he got it. Izuku chuckled softly, remembering that day.*
Mini flashback
*Tsuyu opened the door of her house tired of a long day of work.*
Tsuyu:Zuku, honey, I'm home. How was... what the hell is that thing doing in my living room? Kero
Zuku turned around with a big smug smile on his face as he sat down on the lazy boy.
Izuku: I got it as an early birthday present.
Tsuyu:izuku Your birthday was a month ago. Kero
Izuku:a very early birthday present. Now come sit on your king's ever-expanding throw.
*Tsuyu rolled her eyes but sat down on Izuku's lap.*
Tsuyu: You are going to pay for ruining my living room with this thing, Kero.
Present
Zuku chuckled softly, rubbing the chair.
Izuku:Now she loves sleeping on this thing when it gets cold.
Zuku heard a knock on his door, and he sighed, cracking his neck.
Izuku: Let's get this over with...
Izuku walked to the door and opened it, revealing a very worried and surprised Beru Asui.
Izuku: So we meet again, Miss Asui. How's your car?
Beru: It's fine. It's good to see you, and thank you for saving my daughter.
Izuku: Oh, think nothing of it; it was a pleasure. She's a real character. Please come in.
Zuku walked ahead with Beru close behind him; she didn't miss the picture of Tsuyu and him together.
Beru: I'm guessing my daughter is sleeping.
Izuku: It depends which one you mean. If it's satsuki, then yes.
Beru;and.....and tsuyu?
Izuku: She's probably still at work; she works as a teacher in Africa now. I'm sure we could talk about it for hours and we probably will in a couple of days, but for now, it's 3 in the morning, and I just want to sleep. Take your daughter and leave.
*Beru nodded, grabbing Satsuki like a baby, and as she walked away, she stopped at the doorway.*
Beru: Tsuyu looks very happy. Thank you for that.
Beth walked away, and Izuku closed the door. He glanced at his guests before climbing the stairs to his room.
Izuku: Oh God, what a night! I'm definitely taking the day off today.
*Izuku collapsed on the bed, groaning loudly.*
Izuku: There is still more than a month to go before Tsuyu comes back and we go to France.
*Izuku got a bit more energy and got up; he went to his sock drawer and opened it, grabbing the family heirloom.*
*Izuku smiled softly, rubbing the emerald.*
izuku: Just a little bit more, and I'll ask once the final time comes: will you marry me?
Zuku's mood got better as he put the ring back in its place and went to bed to finally get a good night's sleep.
