Kevin sat on the couch in the living room of the missionaries' living quarters, holding a book in his hands, as per usual. However, this time, he wasn't reading it. He had his back pressed to the arm of the couch and was staring past the edge of his book at the person on the other end of the couch.

Connor was currently watching the news on the incredibly small TV that the missionaries owned. It could only get three channels, The News, and, to Kevin's absolute delight, Disney Channel, and PBS- no, not PBS Kids, just PBS.

Kevin usually bickered with everyone who touched the remote to not change it from Disney Channel, but when it came to McKinley, he would shut up. He didn't want to have to choose between looking at Disney or looking at Connor, so if the ginger wanted to watch the news, it meant Kevin could casually stare at him or steal glances every few seconds.

It was this particular day that Kevin noticed one detail above all else.
It was early in the day so the sun shone bright through the wide window of the living area, casting brilliant rays down onto McKinley's precious head, dappling his ginger hair to make it look a dusted, bright color that Kevin couldn't help but adore.
Connor's hair curled just at the edge, so as to give it a gentle look, and Kevin desperately resisted the urge to scoot over to Connor and run a hand through the boy's hair. It looked so soft right now, and Kevin's heart was swelling. He bit his lip to contain a smile but it only made him look like he was concealing laughter.

Kevin had given up long ago on trying to be straight — after he met Connor, he knew that wouldn't be possible.

"What's so funny?" Kevin snapped out of his fantasies as Connor questioned him, looking over to make eye-contact with Kevin.

Kevin glanced back down at the book he had been supposedly reading, "O-Oh- um- just something a character said-"

"Really? What'd they say?" Connor smiled.

Kevin wanted to fall at the fact that Connor was smiling because he was actually interested in what Kevin had to say.

Kevin blinked, "O-Oh um, I don't remember."

"Oh- well, I've read that book, show me the page, maybe I'll remember." Connor suggested.

"Er- no, no- it's okay, really-" Kevin cleared his throat but Connor was already scooting over and now was pressed against Kevin, trying to grab at the book in his hands.

Kevin held it away from him but Connor was determined and snatched it, leaning into Kevin by now as he had the book in his grasps.

"Let's see..." Connor began, head against Kevin's shoulder without particularly seeming to notice.

Kevin's breath hitched as he felt Connor's hair brush his cheek. It was indeed soft and Kevin fell instantly in love, absently tipping his head until it rested on top of Connor's.

Kevin closed his eyes for a moment, rubbing his cheek against the shorter's boy's soft bundle of fiery red hair before hearing a quiet response.

"K-Kevin...?" Connor whispered, "What are you...doing?"

Kevin's eyes shot up and he sat up straight immediately, "U-um- nothing!"

"Kevin. You're on the dedication page. What have you been doing?" Connor looked up at him with curious eyes.

Kevin looked at Connor and couldn't help but smile before realizing this and shaking his head, "Just- um- it's just- you've got this really nice affect with your hair in like- sunlight and- it looks really soft and- it is and- I think you're cute and- I mean, your hair, your hair is cute- sorry, am I rambling? You're probably freaked out. You're freaked out, aren't you?" Kevin took in a deep breath.

Connor stared up at Kevin before squealing and burying his face in his hands.

"Oh, sorry." Kevin commented awkwardly.

"Kevin!" Connor threw his hands in the air with a gasp, "You're adorable! Oh em gosh!"

Kevin blinked in surprise, "Me? R-really?"

Connor took Kevin's hand and pressed it to his cheek, closing his eyes with a sigh before moving the hand up to rest on his head, he smiled, "It's soft?"

Kevin snickered in amusement and trailed the hand from the top of Connor's head back to the side of his cheek, "I'd say so."

Connor leaned back into Kevin's side, "Oh lord, thank you for this day."

"Oh lord, thank you for this gay."
