THOMAS: FIRST MEETING

It was another day in the Glade, and you've got ready on doing your assigned job-- cooking with Frypan.

It had been a year and a half since you've first came into the Glade, and everything was going dandy for you, except for the fact that you still haven't found the way out of that hellhole. Your relationship with the boys was also doing fine, and you were also the third-in-command (if that even exists, but let's pretend that it does, okay). You were an ex-runner just like Newt, however, after a close encounter with two Grievers, everyone decided, especially your best friends: Newt and Minho, that you stay in the Glade. You hate to admit it but you were also scared to go back to that more hellish of a place so you pretended to be hesitant at first but then agreed after some time.

You fixed your hair before going to the kitchen. Frypan was in charge of making breakfast, while you were the one assigned to cook them some lunch. You sat down with your usual circle: Newt, Minho, Alby, Ben, Gally, Winston, and now with the addition of the greenie, Chuck.

"So how's the Maze?" you asked as you dug in your plate.

Minho swallowed his food, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. "Same scary shuck place."

Newt let the fork dangle on his lips. "Still no way out?"

"None that we're aware of," he replied. A sad smile planted on his lips as he took everyone's facial reaction. "But hey, don't worry. We're gonna find that shucking way out soon."

"Good that," you enthusiastically said. Everyone then got into a lighter conversation and you just sat there, half-listening, half-thinking. Ever since you got up this morning, you felt this empty space in your head, like your brain, was nagging you for forgetting something.

Newt noticed the frown on your face so he tugged at your shirt to look at him. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"I think I'm forgetting something," you told him as you took one last gulp of the soup.

He pouted before turning back to you. "Well then, look for it. Maybe you left it at your room."

Your eyes lit up as you nodded vigorously. You sprinted towards your room, but when you actually got there, you stopped in the middle, looked around, and slumped back in your bed.

You knew it wasn't just there.

(Time jump)

It was already noon and you were almost done cooking lunch. Frypan was annoyed at you and he was close to throwing you into the pit for the mistakes you've committed. So far, the worst thing you have done was accidentally spilling the tomato soup that took you half an hour to make. Plus the kitchen was a big mess.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, Y/N?!" Frypan yelled and you winced at how loud his voice was.

"I'm sorry," you squeaked and before you knew it, you were chucked out of the kitchen, Newt managing to catch you before your face planted on the ground.

He picked you up and you stood with your feet. "Are you okay, love?"

"Not really." You dusted the dirt off your shorts then you strolled towards the nearest table and sat down on the chair. "I still can't remember it, Newt."

"Maybe if you give it some-"

He was cut off when the siren signalling the arrival of the new Greenie went off. You and Newt gazed at each other before running to the location of the box.

The other Gladers were already there and you squeezed your way in front. Gally and Alby opened the box and you saw a dark-haired boy wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt cowering at the crates. Gally jumped down and pulled the Greenie upwards, making you roll your eyes when you heard his ultimate punch line.

The boy scrambled to his feet and you were all shocked when he suddenly sprinted off towards the Maze. Knowing that you were the fastest one among them, you ran after him, catching up with the boy in just a few seconds. You grabbed him on his collar but he still ran off, making you fall because of the unexpected force. The boy toppled down too, and you were laying on top of him, a groan escaping your lips.

"Shuck it, shank!" You yelled and he grunted in response.

And just like a cliche love story, your eyes met, and the fireworks started and you could feel yourself blush and-

No. The truth was when your eyes met, that was when something clicked in your mind. Gally helped you up while Newt grabbed the boy with his arms.

And when you turned to look at Newt, you had a smirk on your face. "I remembered now. I forgot that it was the Greenie's day today."
