GALLY: FIRST MEETING
You felt the ground shaking, and as you opened your eyes, you realized you were in a metal cage lurching upward. Clumsily standing up, you accidentally hit your head above the steel, making you fall backwards. Just as you thought you were about to faint, you heard a siren going off.
Lights filled the box you were in and you realized it was the sun. Shielding your eyes with your arm, you managed to take a glimpse of silhouettes. It took you a few moments to adjust your sight and you almost cowered behind the crates when you noticed that the people above were all boys-- not a single girl on sight.
A thud made you shift your attention. "Oh crap," you muttered as you saw a boy with short cropped brown hair looming over you.
He knelt a little so he was eye-level with you. "Rise and shine, Greenie." You were taken aback with how deep his voice was and you were surprised when he hauled you up and out of the box, his touch leaving you all tingly.
A blond boy caught your arms and he helped you regain your balance. "Are you okay?" he asked and you nodded, still afraid of everyone. "I'm Newt, and you are?"
That made you froze. You couldn't remember your name. You tried to rack your brain for that little information but failed. You were about to cry when you felt a hand on your shoulder. It was the brown-haired boy from earlier. He had a little smile on his lips as he looked at you. "It's alright, Greenie. Most of us can't remember our names on our first day. It will come back to you in a day or two so don't worry about it," he said, his voice now taking a soft notch that made your knees go weak, causing you to fall to the ground.
As most of the boys dispersed, a dark-skinned boy approached you. "Are you alright, Greenie? Something wrong?" he asked, concern laced his voice.
"J-just a little dizzy," you replied and tried standing up just to fall again, but this time, you felt arms wrapped around you. You looked up and saw the brown haired guy staring at you. His face was inches away from you, giving you a good view to study his features. You thought he was pretty cute and what really took your attention was his weird eyebrows. (It's always the eyebrows lol).
A cough made you break the eye contact and fixed your stance. Before you could ask questions, the guy holding you spoke up, "I'll give her the tour, Alby."
"You sure you can handle her?" the dark-skinned guy, Alby, asked.
"Yeah. It shouldn't be that hard. C'mon, Greenie. Let's get you something to eat before I explain to you everything," he said and Alby nodded before walking away. Newt bid a little 'see you later, Greenie' before heading towards the other boys, leaving you and the nameless guy.
Your cheeks heat up when he held your hand and tugged you towards a small hut with tables and chairs outside.
It was when you've been able to study the whole place that questions and fear crept into your mind. Your hands were shaking and the guy noticed it since he squeezed your hand before halting beside a table.
"Hey, it's okay Greenie. We might be guys but rest assured that we're not going to hurt you. We were just as confused and scared as you are now." He tried to soothe you by making small circles with his thumb on your hand. That little gesture made your nerves calm down a bit.
You took a deep breath before asking, "Where are we?"
He gazed into your eyes before sighing. "Save the questions for later, Greenie. Right now, you need to eat," he replied, with a gentle smile on his face, although the look on his eyes told you not to ask anything before the tour.
But one question kept bothering you as you picked up the bowl of some sort of soup.
"I know you told me to save the questions for later but." You paused, taking a sideways glance at him. "What's a Greenie? And why do you keep calling me that?"
His laughter bellowed and suddenly, a butterfly-crazed party started in your stomach.
"It's a slang here. It means a newbie or a new arrival. We address the boys, I mean people like you, that way especially when they can't remember their names," he explained and you nodded.
"So I can call you Greenie too? Since you know, I don't know your name."
You saw a sly grin on his lips before saying, "The name's Gally. Smooth, Greenie. Real smooth."
