UNEDITED CHAPTER

Corania pulled herself out of the hole and looked around. They were playing with fire even she knew that. If anything they only had less than 30 minutes to retrieve a vehicle and get out of here. That was if the car was fast enough to outrun a vampire. Helping, Haru out of the hole. They then made their way through town, a shudder running up her spine as she swore she saw glowing red eyes tracking their every movement.

"It's okay, let's just hurry up. If we don't go now he will come looking for you." Haru warned her

Corania knows knew already knew that and would have to take this risk. Going to the car shop she stopped before they entered and took a deep breath.

Haru pushed the door open and waved her in. The shop was still dusty and smelled like mold.

"The cars are in the far back," she whispered. Her heart was beating rapidly as her palms started to sweat.

Haru just nodded his head and quietly headed towards the back. His shoulders were tense and stiff. Jerking his head to the left he held his hand out and stopped Corania from moving any further.

There laid out beside the truck was an old greyhound dog. Its large head laying atop its crossed paws.

"What? it's just an old..." before she could finish her sentence its eyes snapped open. They were a deadly red color, standing up the dog bared its teeth and growled. Slob landing all over as its teeth started to extend. A disgusting ripping sound could be heard as the skin from its head started to part. Showing its skull. The flaps of skin swing all over.

Corania eyes were wide as she saw the monstrosity that had once been a normal dog.

Haru quickly reached for the tire wrench and swung his arm back and at the same moment, the dog lunged. Corania quickly ducked down and hissed as his shoulder slammed against a metal table.

Haru grunted as the dog pushed him back fighting off its fangs as it wildly snapped at his neck.Hearing movement Corania quickly turned around and saw the machine making his way towards her.

"The mayor did say you would attempt to get a car. But I didn't think you would be so foolish to return with little old soldier boy here. Your Mate will be extremely disappointed." he teased as he tried to grab her.

Corania wouldn't be trapped again and swung her weapon of choice and was delighted when she struck him against his face. She didn't waste any time and hurried to grab a set of keys.

"If you weren't his mate, I would drain you dry." he scoffed while lifting his head. Corania could see that she had nicked him in his eye. Too bad she hadn't knocked it out.

"My toby is going to enjoy his snack and then you're going back with the mayor and I'll be rewarded." he laughed.

Haru yelled as the dog tore his shoulder. Corania's hands were sweating as she gripped the keys tightly. Pressing the button she quickly got into a large black armored van. Honking the horn she drove towards Haru and the beast as the older vampire tried to pry the door open on her side.Before the van could squash Haru and the dog he rolled to the side the dog was too slow as it met the tires. Slipping under the car and its body was squashed as it popped like a balloon.

Corania was breathing heavily as she stopped the car and tried to reverse so she could get the vampire off her fucking windshield. He was starting to make a crack.

"Press the green button on your right!" Haru yelled as he caught his breath.

Looking to her right she saw the button and pressed it. A large flame of fire came out and blasted the vampire off the car. Throwing it back into a table of metal scrape. Twisting and scratching he tried to run but he couldn't run the flames as it started to crawl up the walls of the building. Opening the driver door she stepped out and quickly ran over to Haru.

"Are you going to be okay?" she asked while reaching for his arm to help him stand. Groaning in pain he nodded and took a deep breath.

Corania looked at his shoulder and flinched. She could see that his shoulder was in bad shape. His left arm was limp. The dog must have torn the muscle.

"It's okay, we're going to get out of here and get you to a hospital," she said as she took the bulk of his weight and walked back over to the truck and pushed him in. Her already dirty clothes were now soaked in his blood.

The heat of the fire was getting closer and closer. Corania was about to get back into the truck but was yanked back by her hair as she was thrown across the room. Her body hitting the wall so hard that pieces of wood fell around her. Blood flew from her lip as she felt a horrid pain race up her left side. She must have broken a rib. Looking up she coughed as smoke filled her lungs.

"You thought I wouldn't have my vengeance? You took the only thing worth living for from me. She was my Mate!" Roselyn screamed as she bared her fangs. She looked crazy, her hair was disheveled and her face was wet with tears.

"I will make you suffer as you made her," she screamed

Cornia was tired of people throwing her around literally and figuratively. Standing up on shaky legs she held her side and laughed.

"Fuck you and that dead bitch. She deserved everything she got. If I could I would do it again." she laughed out. Corania no longer cared. If she was to die here than she would go down fighting.

Roslyn screamed and charged at her. The side of the building was carved in as someone broke through the flaming wood. A large tiring flying and knocking Rosyln back.

The flames and smoke were so dense that she couldn't make out who was stalking towards her. Coughing she lifted her shirt and pressed it against her nose and mouth.

"You dare lay a finger to her," Clay questioned as he stood over Roslyn dazed form.

"She killed my mate, it is only fair that I kill her. I don't care if she is yours," she screamed back while lifting a piece of flaming wood and swinging it at him.

While they fought Corania didn't waste any time and dragged herself back over to the driver's side and pulled herself in. screaming at the pain it caused her. Her vision started to fade in and out as she struggled to stay awake. Shit, she must be bleeding internally. She needed to get out of here before she lost consciousness.

Starting the car she looked over to Haru and saw that he must have fainted.

Pushing the gas she plowed the car forward not caring that she was destroying everything around her. Speeding towards the hole that Clay had created during his entry she applied more gas and flew out the other end. The back of the car had caught fire.

"Shit. Haru was the fuck up!" she screamed

Groaning he opened his eyes and looked around."What's going on?"

"The car is on fire. What do I do?" she asked

"The car is fireproof, well be okay just keep driving."

Nodding she speed forward the car was almost out of the town. But like everything that happened to her she saw that a line of vampires was blocking the exit. It was a small horde. Stopping the car she looked to Haru.

"Just run them over, or we aren't going to get out of here."

Pressing the gas she started to head forward. The vampire that was close enough jump on the car banging and pulling at the car. While some weren't as lucky and went under the car. Corania screamed as her already damaged window was shattered. Hands clawed at her while some tried to grab the wheel from her. Thinking quickly she turned the wheen hard and the car went flying towards a building crashing into the front. Throwing most of them off the car. Corania groaned as her head hit the sterling wheel.

Behind her, the car shop was in a full blaze now covering the whole shop as the fire started to spread along with the town. Far away from the town miles ahead the blaze could be seen. Haru pressed a button and bright lights shone from the car. The vampire screamed and ducked away.

"UV lights, they don't last long but they will keep them away. Reverse the car and let's go." Haru said

Cornia shook the fog from her head and put the truck into reverse and started to pull out. The fire had now spread everywhere.

"CORANIA!!" a deep-voiced called out. From the flames, Clay emerged dragging the fully dead body of Rosyln behind him. Throwing her corpse to the side she could see that his shirt was ripped to shreds and he had scratches along his torso.

"Get out of the car," he said while moving closer and closer.

Corania frowned and shook her head. "No."

"You think even if you escape me now that it will be forever? You are mine no matter where you run," he yelled now fully losing his patience.

"When I have you again. You will wish you never betrayed me mate. You will never escape me, I will have you and it will be up to you rather your mother will be alive to see you again." he screamed out.

Corania heart jumped in her chest at his cruel words. No one threatened her mother. Her eye was cold as she looked to him.

"Youll have to kill me before you do anything to my mother. You need me, I don't need you, Clay. That's the curse of being a monster. I will never feel the craving you have for me. I might be your Mate but that doesn't mean you are mine. I despise you. I hate you." she screamed out while pushing the car forward. 

The scream of the vampires could be heard as the fire engulfed them. To bad for her was that Clay was immune to the flames.

Looking after the truck as it left his town Clay roared with anger. He would punish her severely for the cruel words she threw at him. He would make sure she regretted them. He would lock her away and throw away the key. Ignoring the screams of the pathic vampires around him he turned around and went back to the house.

Clay smirked as he looked down at the dead body of the boy and entered his office. Grabbing a duffle bag he stuffed his important papers in and his laptop and made his way out. Clay wasn't stupid the high flames would alert the attention of the police here. The town was over and the weak vampire that rested here would be nothing but ash soon. But not him he would wait and then he would strike. Corania was his and she would not escape him. As the flames entered the house he smirked as he disappeared into the flames.

Corania kept driving until the pain became too much. Besides her, Haru had once again fainted but his body was twitching and his breath was labored.

"Haru?" she questioned.

His body started to seize and jerk around as foam started to spill from his lips. Corania tried to hold his body down but he was too strong.

Cornia screamed as his eyes snapped open and they were blood red. Jumping at her he tried to bite her.

"Haru please stop! She screamed. 

Bringing her legs up she kicked him back and scrambled from the door handle opening it and throwing herself back as she harshly landed on the dirt. Scrambling to her feet she ran to the front of the truck where the UV lights were still on.

Thankfully he didn't try to leave the truck. Taking a deep breath Corania slumped down and took a gasping breath. She felt like she was going to die as more blood dripped down her lip. The lights were blinding her as her head pounded.

Corania felt herself slipping into unconsciousness. Sobbing she tried to stay awake but the pain was too much for her as she passed out.
