Freshman Year 9

Everyone in the school Drama was sitting in the Theatre seats excitedly to hear the parts for the winter play.

The play that was chosen was High School Musical. No one was happy about it except for Happy Thompson, who was over joyed (She was a major fan girl of it). Max, Fang, and Iggy sat in the third row. Max grinned at Fang, "I bet your Troy."

Fang rolled his eyes, "You're going to be Gabriella, just watch. And I'll sit back and laugh."

Iggy laughed at Max's reaction. Max scowled at him, "Watch. You'll be Sharpay. You already have the looks. "

Fang laughed hard as Iggy glared at Max. Just then, Miss Kristen walked onto the stage along with Max's other favorite teacher, Miss Nora. The two women were very different. While Miss Kristen had red hair and brown eyes, Miss Nora had blonde hair and sky blue eyes. Miss Kristen wore indigo skinny jeans, and a white and black striped slouchy sweatshirt and navy blue toms. Her hair was in a messy braid over her shoulder. Miss Nora wore skinny jeans tucked into brown ugg boots, and a t-shirt that said 'LA Arts Football state champs 2011!'. Her hair was a ponytail. They both held clipboards in their hands.

"Alright guys!" Miss Kristen called, smiling at us. Max sat up straighter, listening intently to them. They were her favorite teachers and deserved her respect. "Miss Nora is going to announce the boys parts, and I'll announce the girls. If you didn't make it into the play, then you have four other options. You could work for Tech, Stage Setup slash take down, helping back stage with the actors and actressess or as the video recorders for the CD's. I want you all to work on this for credit. It'll be fun to!" She smiled at us all.

Miss Nora looked at her clipboard, then smiled at the class. "Hey y'all, I'm miss Nora. I'm one of the Writing teachers here as well as the Equestrian manager. Y'all did amazing in the warmups I saw, as well as the improv. I'm very proud to say this is a great batch of drama students!" Max smiled.

Miss Kristen then said, "Here's the girl parts. You all did an amazing job!"

She cleared her throat then called out, "The part of Taylor McKessie goes to Anna Blachford." A indian girl smiled and made a woo of excitement. Everyone laughed. "The part of Sharpay goes to Happy Thompson." Happy made a yes sound and danced in her seat. Max laughed. "The part of Gabriella Montez goes to..." Fang nudged Max who rolled her eyes, "Max Martinez!"

Max stared as Fang and Iggy laughed into their arms. Max could not be Gabriella Montez. She refused.  After all the characters were said, Miss Nora cleared her throat then called out, "The part of Ryan Evans goes to Iggy Griffiths." Max looked at Iggy, trying not to crack up at his face. "The part of Chad Danforth goes to Daniel Ku." An asian boy smiled. "The part of Troy Bolton goes to..."Max made a pointed stare at Fang. If she was Gabriella, he was definitly going to be Troy. "Dylan Cross." Max's eyes widened.

Dylan Cross. THE greatest actor, besides Fang, in the LA Arts Drama society this year. Shaggy blonde hair, beautiful turquoise eyes, a voice of an angel. Dimples appeared when he smiled. All the girls loved him. He loved the attention. He seemed sweet though.

Fang looked tense afterward. "I'll do Tech probably."

Miss Kristen had come up afterword to explain to Fang that there hadn't been a right role for him. He was an amazing actor, but none of the roles seemed to fit. Fang had shrugged and said it was okay. Max was congraduated on getting Gabriella. She tried not to hurl.

The next day, fliers were hung up all over school about the play and the Vertical Jam coming up the next week. Apparently, it was a big thing.

"What's Vertical Jam?" Max asked, that day at lunch. She was picking at her salad, making a face as the tomatos rolled around in it.

"It's a big dance sort of. It has the latest music, no classes all day, a party of the school lot and balcony. Music from the music kids and dancing." Fang explained, taking a bite of his macoroni. "Mine and Ig's band is playing it. We just need a lead singer."

Max nodded, taking another bite of her salad. "Sounds fun. Can I be a roady?" She grinned at Fang. Fang laughed and nodded, "Sure Max."

Just then a voice said behind Max, "Hi Fangy!"

Max groaned loudly, sending Iggy snickering. Fang forced a smile, "Hey Lissa."

Lissa wore a pleated mini skirt, and a pink tank-top that showed way too much. "So, have you thought about going to Vertical Jam with me next week?" Her voice sounded soft and pathetic.

Max rolled her eyes, looking at Fang and making a gag me face. "I thought you were going with me Fangy?" Max said, making an annoying voice like Lissa's.

Lissa glared at Max, who smiled at her innocently. "You slut. I don't sound like that."

Max looked at her, eyebrow raised, "I'm a slut? In case you haven't noticed, I'm wearing clothes. Not a thong and bra." Lissa's face got red as Fang tried to conceal his laughter. Iggy didn't hide it though. He muttered, "Burn."

Lissa glared at Max, "You're just jealous guys look at me. You're just a bitch who has no ass or boobs. You're such a boy."

Max looked at Lissa, standing up to face her full on. "I'd rather guys look at me for who I am. Not how much I show. And wearing a a shirt that shows you're boobs and shorts that ride up your crack make guys think you're a toy. I'd rather wear clothes that cover up my stuff then have everyone know what I have or don't have."

Lissa glared at Max before stomping away.

Max sat back down, smiling at Fang and Iggy's shocked, incredolous but amazed faces. "So, anyone want my cookie?"
