Happy April Fools Day, spacers! Many Star Wars fans were left unfilled by the ending of The Rise of Skywalker, the final installment of the Star Wars franchise, and a new rebellion simmered as die-hard fans wanted closure (or a do-over) on what transpired between Kylo Ren and Rey.

In the Del Rey novelization of the film by Rae Carson, there is some clarity to the deep, longing looks and unspoken angst:

Still, many fans would like a definitive do-over of this epic moment in time from a galaxy far, far away. So, here's your chance to set the record straight! In 500 words or less, rewrite this scene!

Prompt: After the real death of Emperor Palpatine, alone in the shadows, what transpires between the galaxy's most beloved couple in their final moments together?

Attention to details will make sure your story is understandable and accessible. Paragraph spacing is important. We'll be assessing stories based on grammar and spelling, narrative voice, and overall creative execution of the prompt. Try to convey feelings and emotion in your story with ample depth and detail.

The entry must be in English. (Sorry, we do not have a universal translator, but we're working on it).

FAQs

Do I have to make a new book?

You can submit an existing or separate book. Please ensure that when submitting, the link must be your contest entry. We cannot add your existing book in our respective reading list.

Does it have to be 500 words?

This is a scene frozen in time, the word limit is that, 500 words, and not over. Being under the word count is fine though.

Can I do a co-written story with someone?

Yes, you can! However, if you choose to publish on both your profiles, be aware that we can only add one story to our respective reading lists, not both.

Can I enter more than one entry?

As much we love to read your creative stories, only one entry per user is allowed.

Are OC characters allowed?

No, while we love original characters created by Wattpad users, this is a very character-specific moment between Kylo Ren and Rey.

What about Mature?

Mature is allowed as long as it follows Wattpad Content Guidelines and please remember that it must meet the contest criteria in order to be accepted. Also, it's a single, brief scene.

How will our stories get judged?

Stories are judged on various factors, such as writing quality (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), originality, and relation to our prompt.
