Thirty-Two
Chapter Thirty- Two
Dinner and a Trip
"Luna Carson!" I shouted over the phone.
Val giggled, "I know...isn't it wild?" Then she sighed. "It's alright, right...like not too soon?"
"Val..." I sounded, I took a seat on one of Priscilla's deck chairs outside.
After Braxton had showed me the invitation to my sister's presentation I excused myself to call her.
"You've got to stop worrying about how quick things are going now...like I told you, when it comes to Weres there is no such thing as too fast."
"That's what Trace says, he said it's even more intense since we're mates."
"He's right." I smiled. "If this is something that Trace thinks you're ready for and it's something you feel comfortable taking on, then why not?"
"I feel like it's what I'm suppose to do...like it just feels right and it makes me proud that he wants me to do this you know?"
I felt a little bad because here was my sister, same situation as me but I sort of rebelled and denied all of Braxton's offers and Valerie just openly accepts them, with grace and pride no less.
I felt horrible...but I had been giving it my all these days and feel like I've been doing pretty good at it too.
"Val, Braxton and I will be there beaming with pride as you are presented as the Luna of your new pack, and I can't imagine a more selfless and deserving person."
"Other than yourself." she sounded.
I laughed and rolled my eyes, "Suffice it to say I've found that I am quite the selfish person...something I'm working on though." I congratulated her once more before cutting the convo short as I did still have a dinner to attend.
But before I could make my way back into Priscilla's home Braxton stepped outside.
"Everything okay?" He asked.
I nodded, "Everything is fine...my sister is happy and I am happy for her." I smiled.
"I'm glad to hear it." He said before pulling me into a hug, "I've been meaning to ask you something..." he sounded, a glint of mischief mixed with nervousness seemed to dance across his eyes.
"What are you up to?" I asked, but before he could answer Priscilla opened the back door.
"Dinner's ready." She smiled.
Braxton took my hand and led me inside.
The three of us sat down to enjoy our meal and we all ate and talked.
"How's Ryder settled into his Beta role with his brother?" Priscilla asked sweetly.
To be honest it had been a couple of months since Trace's Masquerade pack party even though it only felt like a couple of days had passed in reality, so much has happened.
Braxton filled her in and even told her about my sister. As dinner wrapped up we told Priscilla good bye and left shortly after, Braxton helped me into the car before going around to the drivers side, I simply sat there and watched his as he went through the various actions.
"What?" He asked as he caught me looking at him
I shrugged, "I thought you wanted to ask me something when we were in the backyard."
"Oh, that..." he said as he began driving. "Just wondering if you'd like to go to the lake house?"
"What about Valerie's Presentation as the future Luna?"
"Technically your sister is already the Luna as she's been marked by Trace and has been presented to the council...also her presentation is on Sunday, we can take outfits with us...we'll go out tonight, and just take off to Trace's pack Sunday evening."
I nodded, "it has been a while since we've been out there and I do love the Lake house." I smiled "But is that really what you meant to ask me?" I don't know why, call me crazy but I felt like he was going to ask me something else entirely. "You sure you didn't mean to ask me something else?"
He shook his head, "Not to my knowledge...is there something I was suppose to ask you?" He asked with a slight confusion on his face now.
"Oh Braxton, no...my handsome I would love to go to the lake house, I guess I just picked up the wrong vibe. " I admitted slightly embarrassed now.
"Don't worry about it Gorgeous." He said as he smiled and took my hand into his own and we continued on our way to our house.
Once home I packed up my bag while he packed his own bag and made a call. He put it on speaker phone and sat the phone on the dresser so he could continue packing.
"Alpha?"
I could hear that it was Patrick.
"Hang on, I'm going to call in Vance too." he said before he picked up his phone and called Vance.
"Alpha?"
"Hey guys...now that I have the both of you on the line I wanted to let you know that the Luna and I will be out of town this weekend."
Neither of them said anything.
"Harper and I will be leaving for the lake house this evening and we will be gone all weekend only returning him Sunday after Alpha Trace's Luna is presented to his pack Sunday evening...it goes without saying that the pack is under your protection, I expect that the both of you can handle this?"
"Yes Alpha." they both sounded.
"I will have my laptop with me as I will have to finish up some work so if anyone needs to reach me please reach me through email."
I rolled my eyes and smiled. "If either of you needs us feel free to call." I put in.
Braxton turned to face me and smirked "But try not to need us." He sounded to them once more. He finished up his call and also finished packing his bag and collecting mine before we headed downstairs. I set the alarms before locking up the house as he got the bags into his car and pulled around front to pick me up. I let myself into the car and soon we were off.
I grabbed his hand and he smiled at me before I resigned to looking out my window at the scenery as the setting sun painted everything with beautiful warm colors, soon the night's sky would fill the background.
And I know when the moon is out my handsome Alpha tends to let his wolf control his emotions. Also given that the full moon is this Sunday I knew he'd have little control over his wolf's arousal...I could definitely have some fun this weekend.
"What are you smiling about over there?" He asked smartly.
I shrugged, "Just really glad we're coming out here this weekend, I feel like so much has happened since we've last come out."
He nodded, "I know what you mean."
