Forty-Two

Chapter Forty-Two
Epilogue

I sighed as I rushed about the house in search for bobby pins.

"I swear they're never anywhere when you need one!" I grumbled to myself.

"Harper bring the hairspray as well!" Mariah yelled.

I sighed but smiled, "sure thing" I called back.

I finally found a pack of untouched bobby pins as well as my hairspray under my sink.

"What ever happened to the Bride not doing anything on her wedding day?" I asked with a small smirk

"We've tried letting you not do anything but you, Ms. Micro Manager won't let us do anything." Ellie sounded as she ushered me back into my seat in mine in Braxton's bedroom.

Mariah was working on my hair while Elise did my make up.

"Hey the boys just arrived." Valerie sounded as she walked into the room, "And I've been instructed to give this to you." She added as she walked over and handed me a little black bag.

The girls stopped working on me so that I could take the bag, on top was a card.

I opened the card and immediately smiled.

My Gorgeous,

I have looked forward to this day for as long as I have known you. You have exceeded any and all expectations as my life partner and I can't wait to take on this next adventure into our future with you. I've given you my heart, my mark, and today I will give you my name.

I know you didn't want to do the traditional thing but this belongs to you now, another Luna Heirloom if you will...I love you and i'll see you up at the alter.

-Yours Always,
Braxton

Elise sighed in annoyance and handed me a tissue as I had begun to tear up, I dabbed at my eyes, no doubt she'd have to retouch my makeup.

I finally pulled out the tissue paper and found the contents of the bag, inside house a velvet box.

"This isn't one of those joke gifts where theres another box in there is it?" Mariah asked.

I shrugged, "Only one way to find out."

I opened the box and found the most beautiful saphire earrings.

"Valerie smiled wide. "He told me to tell you they are your something old, new, and blue."

I smiled. Back when I began planning this wedding I had stated that I wanted to have a celebration of mine and Braxton's Love for one another, I didn't want anything over the top with hundreds of flowers, tons of people we didn't know, or anything we didn't truly need... instead I said family only, wedding dress, tuxedo, no bridesmaids, no grooms men...just my one maid of honor and his one best man...just a ring exchange and the signing of the marriage license and then we eat and drink and party.

I turned to face the mirror and put in my earrings, I smiled as I took in the reflection of not only me on my wedding day but my closest friends and family.

We had all come such a long way to get this day.

"It so strange..." I sounded in awe. "I can hardly remember a life where I didn't know about Weres, Mates, Lunas, Alphas, but here we are...smack dab in the middle as pack members, wives (I said looking at Elise), Mothers, (I said looking to Mariah now)." I turned and smiled at my sister, "And Leaders....I'm so glad that I have got to take this journey with you all."

"Hey," Ellie sounded a little choked up now, "This is only the beginning girl, we've got so many other adventures to go on."

Mariah and Val nodded, "Yeah you act like just because I have had a kid that I wont get married or have others or Elise wont have kids, you and Brax...Val and Trace...I mean hell there still so much to do." Mariah said.

I shrugged, "I know...it just....I don't know, it just feels like this is it...like my marrying Braxton is the finish line and then what?" I said, "And maybe I'm just freaking out a little bit about the future because who knows where we go from here...but I don't know, I can't think about that." I felt overwhelmed all of a sudden."

"Hey," Val sounded gently as she stepped forward now, she hugged me and I closed my eyes. "Chill H...I get that this is huge...you're getting married, but you're marrying Brax."

I looked at her and she smiled.

"He's your best friend and you two are mates, and you're right...who knows where you will go from here or what will happen... but no matter where you go or what happens you will always have Braxton right by your side." She smiled on "And we will also be there because like it or not, we are all family and family sticks together."

"Thanks." I smiled and then Elise and Mariah stepped in and we all group hugged.

"Okay this is super cheesy." Elise said and I laughed.

We moved and finished up last little touched of make-up and before I knew it they left Val and I alone in the room, she smiled and as soon as our Dad walked into the room she gave me another reassuring hug before taking off.

"You all ready kiddo?" Dad asked smiling.

I took in a deep breath, smiled, and nodded. "I am."

Together we descended the staircase and found Braxton standing at the bottom of the steps. My dad handed me off to Braxton and with my hand now securely in his I felt at ease. This was what I wanted.

We moved to stand in front of the podium that held our marriage license, we had technically been officiated as married by a court house representative, but all we had to do was sign off on the license to be official.

"I know we said we weren't going to say any big speeches or anything so I'll keep this brief." Braxton smirked as he reached into his suit pocket and pulled out my wedding ring. "I promise to love, honor, respect, and protect you always as not only the love of my life but the Luna of our Pack."

I smiled, they were his own little vows and I adored them. Val handed me his ring and I smiled in turn at him, "Braxton, I promise to you in front of our family that I will always love you even if I may not like you at the moment"I smiled knowing that even though we're mates, we can still have our disagreements. "I will also honor you as your wife and Luna, protect you in the ways I know how, and cherish our relationship always." I finished as I slid his ring onto his finger before we both moved behind the podium.

I signed my new name first.

Harper Ocklan

I smiled as I looked at it, I won't lie...I had practice my new signature for probably a week straight trying to perfect it for this moment.

And after Braxton signed his own name he kissed me and everyone clapped. We made our way out of our house and into the backyard where a large white tent had been set up.

My new Mother in-law had decorated it with flowers despite my objections as I wanted to keep everything low key.

I was now grateful for it as it looked beautiful and didn't just have a backyard barbecue feel to it.

Everyone helped themselves to the buffet style food and beverages while music played... we ate and talked. Afterward the tables were pushed to the sides and the floor was now opened for dancing.

Braxton took my hand before he led me to the dance floor and kissed me, "Hey there Gorgeous."

I smiled, "Hey there yourself Husband."

He smiled, "I can get used to hearing that."

"Well...I don't think you have any other choice." I pointed out feeling silly and then I laid my head against his chest, I could hear the sound of his heart beating and I smiled, "Thank you for coming into my life Braxton, you have made every single day that much more special."

I looked up at him now and he smiled down at me, "Well thank you for choosing me." He said.

"I will always choose you when given the choice." I smiled. He leaned down and kissed me.

We danced on but I couldn't help but look around in awe, this was my life and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
