Prologue

     "Master, Master, there he goes,

      Leaving us abandoned souls,

      Where he goes, no one knows,

     Mistress, Mistress, here she comes,

     Take away the master pain,

     Let us free, we will go,

     A place of safety, to and fro,

     Abandoned, lost, where fear grows,

    We fear Mistress will never return,

    Gone forever, in the abyss,

    Mistress, Mistress, save our souls."

Summer of 1980

       "Mother, you promised." A little girl cried. She had long black hair with crystal blue eyes and long dark eyelashes.

      "So I did, little one. You will find promises are broken." The mother replied.

      "But... mother. You said you would never die. You promised you would be there always." The little girl mourned.

      "Child, child, hear me out. Promises are never kept." The mother said back, and died of a spear wound.

      "Mother! Mother! Wake up!" The little girl screamed.

     "Child, she is gone. Mistress will never return." The child's nurse said, stroking the girl's hair.

     "But... mother... she said..." The little girl could take no more, and burst into tears.

     "Hush, child. Your big brother will be here soon." The nurse tried to comfort the little girl, but explosions shook the floor. "Come, child. Go with your brother!"

      "No! I will stay with mother!" The girl said petulantly. "I don't want to go! I wish to stay!" The nurse managed to get the stubborn girl to safety, and she crash landed on Earth. Since children from her planet tend to live a long time, she didn't become a 16-year old teenager (by Earth standards until 2010 on Earth. She was 8 when her planet exploded. She had the powers of her people, and she was the last survivor... or so she thought.
